Why are post 9/11 zoomers like this?
>>
>>223340413
why, he's right
>>
>>223340455
Because he's not right. He's incredibly retarded. Needing every single thing explained to you isn't because you're from a specific generation, you're just an idiot.
>>
>>223340455
No, xhe's not, and saying "movies now" is implying all movies are like this now which is false, also what's the big deal?
>>
>>223340413
because their life sucked and they had to listen to millenials xers and boomers talk about how great everything used to be in the past

Yeah boomers are the first generation to ever write nostalgic movies about when they were younger

Zoomer nostalgia doesn't really exist so they have to make shit about things they never even experienced and are incapable of understanding, like VHS tapes and """frutiger aero"""
These people were born after the PS3 came out, meaning they have no past because not much has changed since then and that's why they're resentful and hateful to everyone older than them
>>
>>223340583
In my case older generations are just assholes for no reason but I can see how it can be the reverse for others. I remember those things just being cool when I was younger but I wouldn’t say it’s my culture.

The oldest zoomers were born in '95

>and are incapable of understanding, like VHS tapes and """frutiger aero"""
We don't have to understand them in the way you understand them for them to have meaning for us. There's not one objectively correct impression of how a VHS tape should feel. It's OK for us to feel one way when we see an old tape and for you to feel another way. We can explore each other's feelings and learn more about each other.
>>
neither tarantula or fincher or pitt are boomers, but they are more willing to suck their shriveled cocks for just barely missing out on possibly the best era of human existence
>>
>>223340647
95 - 99 are zilennial territory, they got to experience a pre smartphone analog world so I wouldn't put them in the same category as the zoomers born post 9/11 which are the ones I'm describing, they're two different breeds

Tarantino does believe Hollywood and movie culture was infinitely better when he was a child, so this is a nostalgia trip for him

You can break generations up more distinctly based on cultural milestones than hard years:
Do you remember what things were like before Covid? No? Then you're an Alphie.
Do you remember what things were like before 9/11, smart phones, social media, and mainstream internet? No? Then you're a Zoomer.
Do you remember what things were like before the fall of the Berlin Wall? No? Then you're a Millenial.
Do you remember what things were like before Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement? No? Then you're a Gen Xer.

Zoomers 94 - 99 were too young to indulge in the hedonism of pre-911 burgerland but old enough to see the transition to surveillance state and were raised to be taxcattle. We know we were cheated from a young age and bred to be the cleanup crew when the party's over/war fodder for Iraq2 since that was going to be our forever war.
Zoomers 00 - 09 don't even have dim memories of pre-911 burgerland and just know the surveillance helicopter parenting exclusively. Thats why they're all backseat mods and anal about any slight "transgression" while also being hilariously closeted degenerates underneath the confused ideological cosplay.

Watched Heart of the Beast yesterday for MMM. Thought it was Temu Brad Pitt but it was actually him. It was war propaganda of the "soldiers went around the world to kill people and they're SAD because the people they went to kill fought back" sort with an added dose of "what kind of sick bastard would throw a brick at a dog(that was brought into his country to kill him)?". Seriously there's a scene goes
>how'd he lose those teeth?

They're trained by Gen X and joneses boomers to hate white people culture. The post-racial "colorblind" utopia IS what zoomer culture is supposed to be but it's not the utopian cosmopolitan ideal everyone had. It's just accelerated third worldificaton of a mutt country and ritual humiliation and genocide for everyone else.
>>
>>223342543
a rootless territory devoid of all culture that isn't marketable is what these boomer faggots wanted. This is the fruits of their beliefs and politics and they're in denial of just how shit it truly is, which is why they have no qualms about openly hating their children.
They're mad their kids are rootless third worlders instead of some retarded cosmopolitan aristocrats with some "bootstraps" sob story and will absolutely use the courts to take their gay failures out on their children.

im a 45 year oldfag

desu, the biggest vibeshift occurred during and after covid

vibeshift around 9/11 was hardly noticeable

watershed moments of the country taking a significant turn for the worse in terms of daily life, societal cohesion, attitudes, etc are

1. Obama era
2. Covid era

Everyone became hyper political under Obama, before it was not nearly as important
Covid made a gigantic proportion of the population completely fucking retarded, unhinged and narcissistic
this comes up in shit when driving, or if you are in a store and there is someone oblivious to the fact they are blocking the aisle, or basic jobs/tasks, no one knows how to do their job anymore to an astonishing degree
>>
>>223342800
I'm a late Zoomer born in 97 and honestly Covid was by far the biggest thing just completely kill America off for good.

Like after that, all hope for a even a half decent future went down the drains and now everybody is just coping by doomscrolling and gambling on prediction markets until the wheels fall off eventually
>>
>>223341092
There's been a massive technological and cultural shift since the 90s, not because of 9/11 but because of computers, the internet, smartphones and immigration. There are no more bands, for instance, only artists/idols. Everything is instantly available to everyone all the time, and it just cheapened everything while making it more expensive through subscription services. Instead of experiences being shared by hundreds of thousands of people across states and nations, it's tailored to the individual, so each and every one has their own version of an experience.
>>
>>223342845
America died when you were like 4 years old kek.
Everything after that especially the fiscal crisis and Obama years forward were a snowball effect and covid simply accelerated things that were already coming. Nothing new or special except for the time that's been severely cut short.

I still think the 2000s at least before smartphones blew up still had some semblance of the 90s in it. I mean yeah 9/11 and the War on Terror was everywhere but we still lived mostly in the same way like burning shit on a CD, waiting for messages on messenger or listening to a new pop punk/emo band. I'd say 2007/08 had a way more noticeable shift when technology started making shit way more convenient for people
>>
>>223343005
>he fluff and edge of the 90s was shifted to paranoia, warfare, and the digitalization of reality.
The Columbine shooting leading up to 911 gave credence to push the surveillance state further since early Gen X was starting to have kids by the mid 90's and still had grievances over their parents neglectful habits. California also had severe earthquakes in the mid 90's and guys were dropping dead from overdose by 25. Not hard to see why everyone thought the world would end on 2000.
>>

the best prank got ever pulled was forcing boomers to age at a rate of 1 second per second

The way Americans see life is unhealthy. They cannot physically and spiritually not being angry at some group or individual. Literally unable to enjoy things because every minute they learn of a new enemy to hate.

File sharing in the early 00s lead to no green lighting of a lot of big new productions because investors pulled out and for some years they were running on fumes until Netflix finally replaced it, and by then it was too late, the talent was gone.
>>
>>223343058
Not for early zoomers and their parents weren't powerless dindus oppressed by the system. They voted for and endorsed the enshittifcation of their society in order to feel better about themselves.
2007/08 was when the internet started getting invaded by normalniggers en masse but it wasn't until 2012 when smart phones started becoming affordable to low income families that niggerfication took off.

Every generation had movies made for them by their peers who were now directors.
You think Animal House was made for 20 years olds in 1978? It was made for boomers by boomers.

At this point, there should be millenial directors pandering to millenial nostagia and soon zoomer directors making movies for zoomer nostalgia, but that hasnt happened yet. It's STILL older generations making movies about their lives growing up that less and less people can relate to.
>>

>>223342845
i'm 37 and kind of agree though i will say post 9/11 was a bigger shift than people ITT are saying but it was mostly in the background. Obama era shift was annoying and ruined pop culture, 2012-2020, and covid just made survival the best you could hope for. I had a movie deal almost done in late 2019 and now I work in health care. It fucking sucks

iPhones did more to destroy the internet than any other single development, we now know. AOL did a lot to bring retards online in the early days, but the retards with mobile internet wiped out any exclusivity that remained.
>>
>>223343005
not for me and I was 21 when 911 happened
it was of course big news but that was it, it didn't effect me personally in daily life, unlike Obongo and Covid which absolutely have tangible effects

right after 911 banks were kind of fucked up, I remember I couldn't pay rent for 2 weeks because there was a freeze for some reason
air travel changed a bit but by how much is vastly overstated
flying in the 00s was still pretty normal, you would regularly be on flights that weren't packed so you could have a choice of seating and even lay down across all seats on night flights
people were still polite, people wore normal clothes on planes, they didn't show up in soiled pajamas and pick their feet during the flight

one of the worst things I think zoomers have to deal with I think is how imprisoned they must feel or be compared to previous generations due to the destroyed economy from globalization and how the internet has supercharged it's effects

when I got out of college, I was broke and stupid, but was still able to easily get a halfway decent appartment in a trendy (for young people at least) neighborhood with 1 roommate for 500 dollars a month in San Francisco

I think young people are mostly stuck where they are now because it's too expensive to move around, jobs are limited/highly specialized
it really was 'world is your oyster' back then, even into the early 10s, that's when things started getting bad

>i have no object permanence

>>
>>223343175
I think Millenials were fucked over by Gen X and Boomers not even wanting to let go of the producing power they gained since the 80's.

They prefer giving Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Scorcese (Boomers), Nolan, Fincher, the Russo Bros (Gen X) and other big names endless money because of name recognition than give a 30-something millenial that wrote their own screenplay their start because nowadays middle-budget movies all flop and go to streaming after two weeks in theaters.

And somehow now zoomer youtubers got the chance to make their first theatrical movie from studios and those made movies.

They jumped a generation. 30-40 year old people were skipped.
>>
>>223343563
>They jumped a generation. 30-40 year old people were skipped.

The 2000s had a darker feel to it than the 90s because of 9/11, which is why there was all the military stuff in the media, but there was still a greater sense of optimism than there is now. Some of it was because of the patriotism and unity that Americans felt in the immediate years after 9/11, some of it was because smartphones and social media were still barely a thing which meant most people's brains weren't completely broken yet, and some of it was because of Obama's hope campaign which made even the recession era feel like there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
I feel more and more that 2012 really was the flashpoint for when we hit the shit timeline and the Mayans were right. Doomscrolling wasn't a thing 20 years ago, but it's all most people do now.

Zoomers are like that because being self-righteous and complaining is easier than actually doing stuff. It was called "slacktivism" back when millennials tried to accomplish societal changes by sharing posts on Facebook. Zoomers took this principle and applied it to their personal lives like dating and finding jobs. The zoomer girls I date constantly complain about being broke and living with their parents, but they won't fill out any job applications I send them. They just expect me to be daddy and buy a house to turn them into my own personal kept women. Zoomers seem to think it should be feasible to buy a McMansion in the suburbs on a single income when that was hardly feasible even back in the 80's and 90's when boomers were buying houses.

I'm a zoom from 02. He's kinda got a point as much as it pains a 70s autist like me. Something about these "period" films being made now just don't seem to have that focus or substance that made films, documentaries, books of their time so interesting, or even the nostalgic love letter films of previous decades ala Grease, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Catch me if you can Etc. I'd argue that when it came time for the first films that looked to set stories in the 1970s (if you follow the 25-30 year rule), the 2000s seem to me like a bit of a glut for period stuff in general. I mean what, Almost Famous? Zodiac? Super 8? (Admittedly that one is a guilty pleasure). It never really had time to shine as well as previous decades and their respective "nostalgia" periods, as if nobody could figure out why the decade was interesting to look at. Cut to now and the only stuff set in the 70s is a weird subversive pastiche of what the decade (probably) really was. And thats just sad to me, I fucking love shit like the China Syndrome, new hollywood era films, the political thriller, period films (Chinatown, Days of Heaven) and it almost feels like we lost the chance to actually tell some interesting stories set in the time.

Boomers
Zoomers
Boomer had the white guilt and knowing they were dying off they programmed Zoomers to act the fucking same you dip shit
Zoomers are the new left tard. GenX went back to traditional America. the 1980s was trying to relive the 1950s values.

Get your logic straight

When was the last time you went to a self checkout at Target or Safeway? notice that green block turn red and lock onto you on the monitor above the cash register? Where ther fuck did they get facial recognition software from?
I worked as a security guard and they have a list of people the Gov agency have on watch list who do nothing illegal in the mall. and the system beeps when they come to the mall and we followed them

And I will tell you the malls or business we secured had ai software with facial recognition and connected to Triple Canopy software which people on Secret gov watchlist would push content to our company phones given to us to monitor and follow anyone in the area and take notes. this all happened after 9/11
Trip-Can was once apart of Blackwater Security if I remember correctly.

You guys are fucking morons if you dont think we live under deep state monitoring. and USAID that DOGE busted was rerouting funds to pay private contractors like Security and online watch dogs to place all of you 4chan and shardees and 8gag etc etc on a watchlist.

they're no longer funded. Only FVEY and Mosad are monitoring you. Still tax funded

People born 94-99 have memories of the 20th century but have no opinion of what the 21st century took away from society. At best they were told by adults over and over that life isn't the same but they don't know what they're talking about. But they do know what life was like before the socially paralyzing advent of smartphones with cameras and internet ready to broadcast anything out of the ordinary, that nuance is lost on anyone born after 911

Only the youngest boomers were 20 in '78. The core boomers were 30ish by then. The characters in Animal House are WW2-era kids, who are commonly assigned to the tail end of the "silent generation," but are mostly closer to the early boomers than to the kids born in the '30s. They're kind of like a hybrid like the so-called "X-ennials." The writers were mostly a mix of these same WW2 babies and early boomers, and the director was born in 1950.
>>
>>223350421

It is when the generation is uniquely reprehensable. Boomers and Gen-Xers could be excused, their idiocy and vanity were honed by decades of prosperity. Millennials survived 9/11, GWOT, the birth and growth of the internet from a pure wild west fun zone to the hellscape it is now, the 08 crisis, the culture wars etc etc etc and all they have to show for it is faggotry. Nothing with any staying power, just cultural flotsam that spoke to no one and that nobody remembers any more.

It's not a movie, but James Herriot set all his books in the 30s-50s despite writing them in the 70s-90s.

Come to think of it, all the Sherlock Holmes stories are set between 1885-1905 but were written as late as 1927.

I'm sure there's film and tv examples too.
>>
>>223350452
Yeah, but there's a big difference between kids born in the late '40s or early '50s and those born in the late '50s. Late '50s kids were born into a world where TV was already ubiquitous, missed out on the a-bomb drills in school, weren't old enough to be affected by the Kennedy assassination, were in elementary school during the British invasion and the Summer of Love, were far too young to ever have to worry about being drafted for Vietnam. etc. Basically they missed out on so much of the common experience that defines the boomers as a generation.

Overstated.
Zoomers are averse to doing anything without explicit instructions because they're raised to be obedient goycattle by public school teachers and pussy-whipped "men" they call fathers. No one is calling this out because everyone quietly benefits from zoomers not being even half the niggerish hellspawn that Gen X was in their youth.

It's a cultural thing. Yeah you can cop Cliff's look, especially if you're handsome, but what matters is he lived in that city during a cultural peak when it was full of music, parties, drugs, and hot girls that just wanted to have fun and bang, and you could get in on that pretty easily.

Nowadays, yeah you can drive around in casual fits and smoke all you want, but whatever city you're in is going to be full of bitter assholes addicted to internet feeds that are constantly pushing a message of suspicion and judgement for everyone around them, where everyone's mostly just holed up at home. You can't just drive around and pick up cute hitchhikers and follow them to parties, that world is dead
