Minus One worked because it was a grounded and simple movie with a human focus where Godzilla was nothing more than a destructive force that needed to be overcome with human ingenuity. Now Godzilla is traveling the world fighting another monster that's either an alien or made by a mad scientist who has a clairvoyant sidekick and the main character of the original movie is now flying through a CGI sky of nonsense and explosions.

I watched Godzilla vs Destroyah and it was entertaining from start to finish, I barely felt the urge to fast forward any japs talking scenes. Then I tried watch Godzilla Minus One, and it's complete and total misery porn from the very first scene until I shut it off. Fuck that movie. I don't care about the director's depressed outlook on life go make a sad manga and then hang yourself, I want an entertaining kaiju movie bitch.
