It's an interesting portrayal of a child who is intellectually precocious but emotionally warped in some way, where she probably has diminished empathy and has already learnt to be manipulative. The decision to portray her as a diminutive little scamp adds to this of course, sure she is instantly weird but you wouldn't expect her to be, well, evil. >The braces also add to her weirdnessThat's part of said characterisation I feel.
