First for Picnic at Hanging Rock
>>223417483I meant more that these people really did disappear at Hanging Rock and no trace was found.
I love the 90s.
>>223417503now that's lesbian subtext
>>223417505>live near Hanging Rock>tried visiting once but the park closes at some stupid time like 6pm>yet to try againIs there much to see? I honestly haven't even seen the movie yet.
now that backrooms was a financial success (even though it sucked)why won't they make SCP movies where tacticool special forces guys go against the paranormal?closest thing I've ever seen is pic related
>>223417506>I meant more that these people really did disappear at Hanging Rock and no trace was found. It is entirely fictional. It is based on a book.
>>223417526It's a bummer that VHS somehow got SCP. I feel like it could have been a great film series.
>>223417526because SCP has been about wacky nonbinary doctor who ripoff self-inserts going against the paranormal for the past 10-ish years
>>223417526Something like F.E.A.R with a little retooling could be kino, but I can also see how they could easily fuck it up. There was something so damn fun and interesting about a horror game taking place in pretty mundane offices.
>>223417548>for the past 10-ish yearseverything really does suck these past few decadesthanks Obama
>>223417524I dunno mate, I haven't been there but it isn't that far away from me since I live in Melbourne. It's a good movie, but it is quite slow and not overtly horrific. It has an uncanny atmosphere though.
>>223417526I wanna see Delta Force go against demons.is this really too much to ask for?
>>223417505>>223417524the area around it looks pretty damn nice, sort of has a new england look
>>223417579there's that one VHS (I can't remember which) that had the segment where a special swat team that guns down paranormal shit went into a project building and had to kill a bunch of zombies and then the alien that made the zombies at the top of the building
>>223417567>I haven't been there but it isn't that far away from me since I live in MelbourneBased, same.>quite slow and not overtly horrific. It has an uncanny atmosphere though.Good enough for me, I'll take atmosphere over some jumpscare shit any day.
>>223417526I want mother horse eyes turned into a high budget series

>>223417615Is it good though? I remember that name and Redditors going on and on about it, which really put me off looking any further. It might have even started on Reddit from what I remember, maybe Tumblr.
>>223417707yeah the whole thing is a masterpieceit even triggered reddit and they called it antifeminist
>>223417505Surprising there's never been a movie about Black Mountain considering the constant disappearances that happen. It's a pretty good guess that people just fall into the various chasms and holes, but the interesting shit is about the caverns and tunnels underneath.>It is believed that those who vanished most probably fell into one of the chasms under the rocks or after entering one of these places became lost. It is estimated only three in ten would survive such falls, wandering below the Earth's surface with only ground water streams and insects to nourish them.

>>223418143you may not know this anon, but The Grudge is actually the third film in the Ju-On series. because it's the one that got big overseas, most people start there.the first two are more like 1.5 films, because the second film has 50% footage from the first for some reason.
Pray for me, my friends
>>223418323
>>223418309I watched one of the movies recently, but I can't recall which one it was. There's Ju-On: The Curse and Ju-On: The Curse 2, but then there's Ju-On: The Grudge and Ju-On: The Grudge 2. I think I watched Ju-On: The Curse 2, which includes a recap of the first film and then some original material in the same vein. I've seen the The Grudge J-horror movies years ago as well, and I think the first one is a remake of Ju-On: The Curse, but I can't remember exactly. I should probably rewatch some J-horror classics this October, it's been some time. Might watch Ringu and its sequels, Audition, Gozu, Visitor Q, uhhhmmm... Three Extremes... The other ones I have rewatched too many times. I should watch the Sono movies that I haven't seen also. I've seen Tetsuo the Iron Man a million times but I never saw the sequels. Might also view Tokyo Fist although I don't think that's a horror movie conventionally speaking.
>>223418614Ju-On: The Grudge is definitely a film worth watching more than once, or at least if you're gonna watch it you need to do it with a notebook to remember who all the characters are.I've seen all the Japanese ones but weirdly none of the American sequel films. I can't imagine they're good but they're probably not terrible. If you haven't seen Don't Look Up, that's the October meme film we're watching for sure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVwMbpuS_hcIt's by the Ringu director.
>>223417468Watched this on ParaChud Plus the other day. It wasn't bad at all actually. Perfect high effort straight to DVD type kino that we used to get all the time back in the day but we never seem to get any more of these days.

>>223421286Haunted house J-horror released alongside a game adaption that went on to be a direct inspo for the original Resident Evil game. Watched it the other day, some great practical effects work. The tone is a bit all over the place jumping from pure horror to comedy to adventure but its a fun movie overall.

>>223421943Yeah good one for the season. Has those old school haunted house vibes
>>223421912It is true watch you say; but be weary, Van Helsing could be in the thread with us right now.
I'm not ashamed to say this. But 70s horror is dry and boring, just because there are some exceptional kinos in that decade does not mean the majority of horror just falls flat. 80s horror is infinitely more watchable and fun >but 70s are more like real filmsyeah, but horror should be amateuristic, experimental and trashy.

I'm not saying I'm now part of the fandom that loves this movie, but I don't hate it. For me it's more like Rob Zombie's take on Halloween 2 where I respect it more for really being its own thing, for better or worse the director really took a gamble and was able to do whatever he wanted. I don't even hate some of the changes made like how it showed James's life falling apart, or how they brought back more elements of the occult so it would be more in line with SHs 1, 3 and 4. Some new introductions I'm more mixed on like James being a stereotypical young rebel when it just sounded like him in Mary were more like broken autists in both the OG and remake games, and the biological outbreak even if its just a reason to create a sense of urgency. Some nice camera work though, even if it shows its tight budget with how rough the CG can be.
>>223423449Damn...
I watched "Night of the Reaper" (2025). Man, the first hour drags on ... I almost turned it off. But the ending has a nice twist. I hated the fake VCR artefact effects, they didn't look at all like a worn out VHS tape. But hey, generations Z and alpha won't know the difference. Overall a 5.5/10 from me, the first hour doesn't really get going.
rewatched humanoids of the deephad apparently watched it 7 years agowhile i was watching it in bed and i somehow activated a tab with porn on my web browser so it started playing slurping and slapping sounds as the humanoids started attacking the town, thought it an odd choice until i realized what was going onmovie's still dope af, love how it just dives right into the meat of it

>>223424995Went out very early this morning and it was just over the horizon, really big and orange. Very atmospheric. Hope we get a nice full moon in October. Looks like it's going to be 5 days before Halloween.
Watched resident evil while I was going to bed last night. Overall it was average, better than the 2000 slop ones but not a high bar. Fell asleep during the sewers and then finished it today. Not a fan of the reddit millenial humour undercutting the horror atmosphere in literally every scene is my biggest criticism. Ending wasnt very good either. I normally love bad endings but this one felt shit and I wish we saw one of the a-listers of the franchise like ada wong or something
>>223420697>the main actress was super cuteIndeed she was.
I watched The Void (2016) yesterdayThe Plot is all over the place and it gets weird towards the end, but i really liked the practical effects influenced by The Thing

>>223425602Nobody at my local theater tonight seemed to like the ending. Lots of "oh that's bullshit" and "come on" coming from the seats around me. And the same people were into the movie up to that point - I think Zach wasn't able to overcome his comedy impulses quite enough to stick the landing. There's plenty of scenes that go "wouldn't it be funny if..." But a satisfying ending doesn't come from that line of thinking. Weapons, say what you will, at least had a satisfying resolution. Resident Evil kind of discards whatever little characterization it had built up for no good reason.

Pretty decent liminal space horror film, absolutely sparse on scares (the one thing I'll give The Backrooms over it) but the eerie vibes were immaculate. >>223434424>why do britcucks hate that series so muchFor the same reason I do, as it's the most astroturfed piece of shit designed to gaslight the public into believing that they've had a "Cultural Impact" and Art the Clown as a "Horror Icon", two phrases constantly pushed by their marketing departments to help sell merch which is what it's really about!Freddy, Jason, Michael, Pinhead, Leatherface, Tall Man, Chucky etc.... became cultural icons because their movies were, for the most part, good to great and memorable with each having a unique look and identity!Art the Clown is a shitty design while you're never going to top Pennywise, of the IT tv movie (starring Tim Curry R.I.P.) not those fucking trash recent adaptations where his design is fucking shit as the whole point of being a clown was to lure kids into a false sense of security before being killed, while any child with more than two brain cells would take one look at that hydrocephalic cocksucker in the two part film and nope the fuck out of Dodge.Whatever, so as a wise man once said, I think it was Gandhi, suck my cock and eat my shit you flotsam triple nigger uber power bottom twink fuckboi's while spell check corrected me on the "N word" because if you're going to do racism it seems that A.I. wants you to do it properly!!!FACT!!!
>>223434626gay amount of text>became cultural icons because their movies were, for the most part, good to great this is factually incorrectfor the most part, they are not
>>223434626What are you even talking about, weirdo?
Hello, thanks for the Picnic at Hanging Rock recommendation. I’m looking for another one to watch around 1 a.m. after watching Nightcrawler. Thanks!
>>223434626>astroturfed What bullshit. Art the Clown is about as natural of an icon as you can get. Unlike Freddy, who had a big budget film behind him out of the gate, Art was a snowball from a horror short, to a full length, to a crowdfunded sequel. There is basically nothing as violent as the mutilation scene in T2 and that's why news of it spread life wildfire.Terrifier 2 got there on the back of sheer word of mouth. If you could astroturf any shitty 250k budget horror to a $16m box office, everyone would do it.
>>223434754Based picnic appreciator. If you want something similarish, try Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. Beautifully shot film.
>>223434755one of those fags thinks child's play sucks and the other claimed the hellraiser movies were good "for the most part"
>>223434769>Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. BeautifullyBe careful, I've gotten temp bans in /hor/ for mentioning that movie
>>223430453She cute.
A week ago I watched my first SOV horror which was also THE first SOV horror: Boardinghouse (1982). Not a good movie btw. Tonight I watched my second one and my first good one: In The Dark (2000). Has an engaging story, eerie atmosphere, a great lead performance, and a creepy lo fi digital look. Apparently it's a cult classic and was recently screened for the first time in 20 years with a blu ray release on the cards. I watched it by ripping it off ok.ru.Trailer: https://vimeo.com/865659202
>>223434473>reminder that in your country it was literally illegal to own texas chainsaw massacre until the year 1999Not only that but The Exorcist had its UK ban lifted in 98 and know this because I was working as a waiter there and a bunch of us went to see it at the theater causing "Your Mother Sucks Cocks In Hell" to be used liberally on a daily basis!!!FACT!!!
