But 70s horror is dry and boring, just because there are some exceptional kinos in that decade does not mean the majority of horror just falls flat. 80s horror is infinitely more watchable and fun >but 70s are more like real filmsyeah, but horror should be amateuristic, experimental and trashy.

I'm not saying I'm now part of the fandom that loves this movie, but I don't hate it. For me it's more like Rob Zombie's take on Halloween 2 where I respect it more for really being its own thing, for better or worse the director really took a gamble and was able to do whatever he wanted. I don't even hate some of the changes made like how it showed James's life falling apart, or how they brought back more elements of the occult so it would be more in line with SHs 1, 3 and 4. Some new introductions I'm more mixed on like James being a stereotypical young rebel when it just sounded like him in Mary were more like broken autists in both the OG and remake games, and the biological outbreak even if its just a reason to create a sense of urgency. Some nice camera work though, even if it shows its tight budget with how rough the CG can be.

I hated the fake VCR artefact effects, they didn't look at all like a worn out VHS tape. But hey, generations Z and alpha won't know the difference. Watched resident evil while I was going to bed last night. Overall it was average, better than the 2000 slop ones but not a high bar. Fell asleep during the sewers and then finished it today. Not a fan of the reddit millenial humour undercutting the horror atmosphere in literally every scene is my biggest criticism. Ending wasnt very good either. I normally love bad endings but this one felt shit and I wish we saw one of the a-listers of the franchise like ada wong or something

Pretty decent liminal space horror film, absolutely sparse on scares (the one thing I'll give The Backrooms over it) but the eerie vibes were immaculate. A week ago I watched my first SOV horror which was also THE first SOV horror: Boardinghouse (1982). Not a good movie btw. Tonight I watched my second one and my first good one: In The Dark (2000). Has an engaging story, eerie atmosphere, a great lead performance, and a creepy lo fi digital look.
