Chris Hansen is a piece of shit who exploits socially dysfunctional men for the sole purpose of entertainment.There's just something that sits wrong with me about the dynamics of *To Catch a Predator*. He deliberately seeks out lonely, socially isolated men, gets them into compromising situations, then puts a camera in their face while an audience laughs at them.He'll smugly tell them to "get help" or "make better choices" as if he's some moral authority, when the entire premise depends on finding people at their lowest point and turning their humiliation into television.America has a massive loneliness problem. There are millions of men with terrible social lives, little money, and basically no meaningful support system. I'm not saying that excuses predatory behavior, but I don't think it's a huge leap to understand how someone can become profoundly dysfunctional without pretending that public humiliation is some form of rehabilitation.The West is literally overflowing with entertainment, so it makes sense that Hansen found a market in turning desperate people's worst moments into content.And somehow we're supposed to believe the guy holding the camera is the morally superior one.

The movie was basically a hyper-real/cartoonish take on reality almost like modern folklore and it works. Also the way Chris interacts with people ie his mistress was funny. It feels very intentionally like an exaggerated/blown up version of the real life events and is self aware of that.
