This film was disappointing. Despite the excellent cast of Glenn Close, Jeff Bridges, Robert Loggia, and Peter Coyote, who all give solid performances, Close especially is fantastic despite the lack of chemistry with Bridges. Unfortunately even with the cast's efforts they are never able to elevate the film beyond feeling like a slightly better-than-average TV movie.Marquand's direction is fine, but doesn't bring any significant personality to the film, nor does the plot which, in spite of the twists and turns, is completely predictable. A thriller should have you enjoying the ride as things unfold (even if you think you know the ending), not have you waiting for the runtime to finish just so you can see if you were right.I've seen worse films (I've seen worse this weekend), but as legal dramas go, I've seen far better.
I watched this the other day, and it sucked ass. Whole cast practically sleepwalk through the film, I picked the twist out a third the way through the film and the big revelation is like "okay big whoop". The whole thing was dreary and boring. Just a waste of a film.
