Boomers weren't equipped to handle aging gracefully because youth culture was huge in the 70's/80's and any kind of movie, music, advertisment, etc was aimed at them. Meanwhile they have a sort of inferiority complex going with their Greatest Gen parents. You can see this reflected in a lot of their behavior. The toddler tantrums in public places when they don't get their way. The resentment for younger people(complaining about kids on their iPads all day but calling the cops if they see kids hanging out in public). Their interest in Evangelical Christianity(they want the apocalypse because they hate the idea of the world going on without them). I think the really telling scene is the one where he attacks the construction site with a rocket launcher. The movie seems to agree with his conclusion that the road construction is pointless. It exists just to vex him since he's the main character of reality.
People didn't look at movies how they do now.When we watched movies when we were younger, everybody knew movies weren't real. That you could depict heinous acts on film because we knew it wasn't real.Somehow though, over time, fucking idiots came into being. And now, because of social media, young people think movies are a direct reflection of society.Case in point: Obsession.This younger generation is dumb as rocks. No one told them movies are sometimes just a flick.

>>223436542Obviously pulling out a gun is an extreme overreaction but it is intentionally shown in the scene that the breakfast food he wanted was right there in the warming hopper but the store manager was flexing his tiny bit of power over someone just to be an asshole. The world is full of these tiny tyrants, running around like Chihuahua, nipping at everyone's proverbial ankles, to feel important. They get away with it because no one is willing to escalate into a true confrontation.

I wanted to send her some of my favorite books and she said not to bother because any kind of package gets stolen by their postal employees. Which got me thinking about how hard it would be to run a business if you couldn't even trust something like the mail. It got me thinking about how there's this very fragile assumption that most people aren't trying to screw you over and once it's gone it never comes back. It's happened to all the poor countries. It seems like it's happening to the USA too. People are scared to talk to strangers. Most job postings are fake. Half the calls are Pajeet scammers.
