Judge Dredd (1995) wasn't that bad

From a production POV it absolutely made more sense to use his liking for traction rather than aim purely to the comic book crowd. It´s what´s called an acceptable tradeoff. More to the point the 95 movie is far more of a comic book movie than 2012. The cloning plot, the over the top exaggerated art design. All comic book movies should be transportative like that but this generation is obssessed with the grounded sleek and more mundane and relatable approach. Nolan´s Batman and the new Spiderman movies also suffer from it, in fact, it´s not even limited to comic adaptations, Villeneuve´s Dunc completely lacks the esoteric and eerie feeling Lynch movie had, Nolan´s Odyssey lacks the romanticism of the 97´s adaptation as well and don´t even get me started on Total Recall. It´s depressing.
