Even when skipping around filler the show felt like it had the same crap pacing One Piece does. I stopped watching so long ago I dont even remember what arc, it was like one villain after Aizen and Ichigo had a skull thing on his face.

Bleach is a very very stupidly written show, you only need vague ideas of who is on which side of the conflict, and the basic characters and scenes will basically spell out everything you need to know. It's a show that you watch for the pretty scenes and animation, and to follow up the one or more characters which designs you liked the most. For me, it was the gigabased troon.

Because Kubo kept on introducing villains and protagonists, and the villains kept dying. In the end there were way too many shinigami, arrancar, quincy, visored, fullbringers and civilians, and it really showed. There was not enough pages or room for all of them in the last arc.

As as secondary issue, the power creep was a huge issue too. It made little sense storywise to hang everything on Ichigo when at anytime the upper tier captains could have just handed all the arrancar their ass.
