In TSS, the villain characters wore bright, goofy costumes because Gunn was mocking them as dumb, silly characters, not celebrating the source material. This is clear since all the colorful, over-the-top characters end up acting foolish and meeting gruesome ends, including Peacemaker, who’s portrayed as a send-up of jingoistic macho heroes from ‘80s and ‘90s action flicks. Meanwhile, the characters framed as the main protagonists were redesigned to look cooler. Just compare Bloodsport, Idris Elba’s character, to his comic book look, he went from goofy to tacticool and badass. The same treatment was given to Harley Quinn and Ratcatcher.

In Superman, the titular hero comes across as idealistic, yes, but also naive, and the movie’s problems aren’t solved by him or his ideals. Instead, they’re resolved by snarky characters who mock his naivety and aren’t afraid to kill to get results. Even Krypto the dog joins in, cutting off Superman’s speech about his inherent goodness to maul Lex Luthor, something audiences had been eager to see. The movie ends with Supergirl calling Superman a "bitch".

I would like the idea of this show more if it was so fucking slow. This is a problem I have with so many of these god damn tv shows, capeshit or not, they just endlessly waste time and drag stuff out.

I finished watching Daredevil and that show might genuinely be the best live action capeshit show ever created and the pacing of it's scenes are near perfect, while still having more episodes in each season. It's just jarring to come from that to watching an episode of this or again almost any other "drama" made in the last 5-10 years.

These writers and directors think the characters they're making are so much better and more important than they really are, these slow scenes are incredibly self indulgent. I don't think the characters and story of this show are terible but it's the slow pace that is ruining all of it and make me bored of the characters rather than more interested.

Problem is that the main Lantern has a huge stinker that Hollywood is scared off because that's just how it works, I guess. This show grew people interest in Hal, but it clearly overdone it, since every single plan after the movie was going to be not Hal at all. The Snooderverse was just going to bring Ryan for maybe one scene but their main one was also going to be John.

In the end, it's another case where the fans only wanted a good to decent adaption that's not as lame as the old one, and people would jump on it, and like it. Plus Kyle REALLY carried Hal's character in this, he's a really good actor selling a "loveable" asshole type character, even if it's not what Hal is just supposed to be.

Only question is how exactly Jon gets a lantern to charge his ring, because you can very clearly see he has one in the finale trailer when Guy flies down to him in Rushville. This scene with Guy and Jon in the finale also has a line from Guy saying "they're gonna send an army to put you down", with 'you' being Jon. So however Jon gets his battery (or maybe just from the fact that he took that Ring from Hal's corpse) makes him an enemy of the guardians.
