God it seems like a different lifetime when I first watched this.

This really was the end for horror. It was the first time some pretentious crap was sold as an actual horror movie. I know in the past there are movies that maybe kind of qualify as a horror movie, but no one fucking says ''dude Jacob's Ladder is such a scary horror movie! it's right up there with Alien and Exorcist!'' It's not a fucking horror movie. Eraserhead isn't a fucking horror movie.
But Babadook was sold as a horror movie. You went in expecting a monster called teh babadook who everyone says is scary, and you instead get shit in your eyes, ears and mouth.
