spoiler : Kerry was the manhunter all along. Zoey was a misdirection engineered to take the fall. Kerry kept experimenting to create Noah, to propagate the manhunter race. Kerry also helped manipulate John into thinking Hal died (it was a clone Kerry created with manhunter tech). This was so the real Hal can get his ring back, which was otherwise out of reach on Oa. The overall plan is to have Hal create a lantern battery separate from Guardians so he can be a lantern forever. This will end up being a yellow ring/battery combo and the final "twist" is that Sinestro steals it from him.
