I'm old enough to remember before Blockbuster.When I was a kid my parents would go to this little basement apartment video rental place you had to go down steps to get into like a dive bar. They had life sized cutouts of Leatherface and Pinhead down at the bottom of the stairs before you turned to enter the shop. I was five I had no idea who they were but the left an impression.When Blockbuster first showed up they gave out this big phone book style directory of all the movies they had available.

My local mom and pop video store which I preferred never got more than a handful of new releases so I usually went to Blockbuster for new releases and then the local video store for kino. They were blocks away from each other so I would go to both. Once I stashed some weed in a Blockbuster DVD case for some reason and I forgot until the moment I dropped it the return slot that was mounted on the exterior of the store. I had to go in and explain I just dropped off a DVD and accidentally left something in the case. Luckily the 20 something clerk knew me cause I went there so often and he discreetly recovered my bag of weed, put it in a Blockbuster bag, handed it to me, and never said anything about it.
