not being able to tell the actresses apart is not a valid reason to not watch kdramas.
it's a matter of exposure, you'll be able to tell them apart eventually.
like these two actresses.

The sameface issue isn't as bad as the samescript dilemma. You've seen one KDrama you've seen them all.

(I do agree it's getting harder to find unique ones as time goes on, but I'd blame streaming slop, especially Netflix for that)

people seriously can't tell these two actresses apart?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>223463115
It's not same face that's the problem it's same name, hell even just stupid name, how can anybody take anything korean seriously

mostly though I just don't like koreans because of how much they whine about being forcibly civilized by superior japanese military force
>>
>>223463550
What if I want a sex scene or two sometimes? You'll say go watch porn, but the issue with that is porn actors can't act and usually there's no narrative to make me care about who the people fucking actually are. Even amateur often has the latter problem.
Of course, lots of shit just shoves it in for fanservice or to titillate.
>>
>>223466056
no, because once you open the floodgates you get modern american tv shows.
>>
>>223466208
I don't think that's true. There is a middle ground. And i could also just watch good film.
>>
>>223466218
korean movies are the middle ground in all of this, if you want that kind of content in the k-media ecosystem just watch korean movies, but once the barrier between the two falls apart it's gonna force everything that people liked about kdramas out and flood the medium with kmovie style content.

Squid Game had probably more characters in any show i've seen. Such a range of koreans of all ages and styles. The first season was a fun watch and thanos in season 2 was pretty darn funny. I like things a little more fast paced than the usual slow, meandering kdramas like you posted. Variety is the spice of life.
>>
>>223466240
sex isn't "kmovie style content" you deranged prat. you're here because your dad plowed your mother. if koreans want to tell stories in episode form and some of those stories contain people doing s-e-x, then be happy for them. you don't have to consooom everything and you certainly don't have to consooom things you dislike.
>>
>>223466451
there won't be anything for me to consume if the smut peddlers get their way, that's the problem. the smut will flow and push everything else out or to severely diminished amounts.
>>
>>223466240
I don't think exclusively Korean movies but yeah Korean cinema definitely has movies that fit the bill. But most of Korean cinema I've seen is trying to challenge the viewer, what I want is something as comfy as a kdrama but with a little testosterone, but not so much that it overwhelms the comfiness. Hard to find in most film that isn't European or Japanese, and even there it's very rare. It's easier to find in TV shows from anywhere, especially older good ones. This is not to knock kdrama, I'm sure there are some I would enjoy, I just haven't seen much. I tried goblin and found it just ok, also another one I can't remember the name of. I'm also not saying a show needs to have sex scenes to be good btw.
>>
>>223466476
you are aware that sex scenes in western shows and movies have gone down considerably recently. and many younger people are uncomfortable watching them (whether thats because they watch stuff with their roomates aka parents and its embarrassing or because they have some severe porn addiction and feel shame i dont know.) its a downward trend. now if that's because of viewers opinions then surely the pure koreans watching these smut kdramas will be incensed and help set a downward trend in kdrama smut. right?
>>
>>223466540
it's trending downward but it's nowhere near kdrama levels. I swear almost every recent western show I try there's always some kind of s*x scene or smut. People that only watch western shows don't even notice because they're seeped in it. Even with the downward trend it's extremely pervasive especially compared to kdramas.
>>
>>223466592
I swear almost every recent western show I try there's always some kind of s*x scene or smut.
>which recent ones did you watch?
>People that only watch western shows don't even notice because they're seeped in it.
This is just false. everyone who watched house of the dragon noticed the steep decline of titty.
>>
>>223466616
ok to be far I've long given up on western tv, last show I watched was probably Devs, that had a s*x scene. And I passively watched some of House of the Dragon because some other people were watching it where I live and it was full of smut, even the newer seasons. I'm not saying they don't notice the decline, I'm saying they don't notice that despite the decline it's still pervasive comparatively.
>>
>>223466712
>and it was full of smut, even the newer seasons.
There have only been 3 seasons, I dont recall any in season 3. then again it was complete shit so maybe i skipped through it.
>that had a s*x scene.
does it make you that uncomfortable? I just find it funny, novel.
the last three i watched didn't have smut:
The Terror S1
The North Water
Widows Bay
>>
>>223463115
YWNBAsian
>>
>>223466857
hmm perhaps they have been driven out of their home turf but they're certainly trying to bring it in to kdramas, maybe under the guise of it be foreign and exotic so they think they can get away with it. I will consider those 3 shows you mentioned, but if there ends up having smut that'll be the final nail in the coffin for western tv for me.
>>
>>223466928
cracking pair of tits on that lass in e05 44min mark.
its weird how lots of non koreans who dislike smut think they should get to dictate what koreans should have in their shows.
>>
>>223467129
source? any good korean investigative journalism which backs up your claim that koreans want more smut in their shows? no? oh well.
>>
>>223467236
yeah here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUa2h-tcTXc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHZd6zC6Q84
watch some kmovies. lots of smut, you know why kdramas have been virtually smut free, its because of overseas funds. you see it wasn't westerners watching. it was chinese. more restrictive. now that westerners pay a chunk to the koreans, we get more smut. and the koreans are ok with this. because they were already doing it in their movies. and very erotically might i add. so yes maybe you shouldn't hate on the cdrama watchers after all. it was their nation keeping your kdramas in line.
>>
>>223467456
Netflix Korea is supposed to be a reliable source on what Koreans actually want in their shows? Why would they make content with people espousing opinions contrary to the smut the they put out?
>>
>>223467574
I dont think you understand nuance. lets me explain it. some people have different opinions. hope this helps.
>>
>>223467603
I'm talking about the desires of large swaths of the korean population not about the opinions of a few people that appeared on some youtube netflix korea content, hope this helps.
>>
so do you have anything to back up the claim that koreans are fine with removing the distinctions between television and movies other that some korean netflix produced content?
>>
>so do you have anything to back up the claim that koreans are fine with removing the distinctions between television and movies other that some korean netflix produced content?
yes because its koreans writing, acting and starring in those shows. and they are happy to do it. and there aren't vast swathes of koreans protesting these shows. koreans love to protest. and i don't see it. koreans watch these shows. deal with it.
the only distinction between movies and shows are how they are presented. one is a story of 90-180mins, the other its a series. there should be no restrictions on telling stories. except for age guidelines. you are creating arbitrary distinctions like one can have sex and one can't simply to fit your preferences and then believe this should be imposed on others. tyrannical behavior my guy.

nice fantasy. you won't do shit to fix your kdramas.
>>
>>223463342
He's talking about the script not the plot.
>>
>>223467807
plenty of actors all over the world act in things and work on sets of shows that they wouldn't personally watch or like. some hot shot netflix ceo shows up in hongdae with a wad of greenbacks someone is gonna act his his smut, that doesn't mean they endorse it.
>>
>>223463115
Actually I can tell their faces apart, its the names that get me. I can only remember so many suns and parks.
>>
>>223468438
they have first names too ya know
>>
>>223468088
And the writers and directors are also encouraged to write smut yes?? What I think is happening is Koreans wanted to make these sorts of shows but couldn't because of TV network restriction and when Disney and Netflix came along, they were given the opportunity to tell these stories.
>>
>>223468545
yes they are encouraged to because that's what the western suits came demanding of them because that's the kind of slop that sells in the west.
>>
>>223463115
Every face is unique just like every pussy is also unique.
If you can't tell them apart it's a you thing.
>>
>>223463115
Kdrama just like anime is slop, the only reason you don't notice if it's full of tropes you've never seen before. Once you've watched two or three of these shows they all play out the fucking same.
>>
>>223468569
You paint Koreans as victims of western influence. As if they don't have agency to want to tell stories that may include nudity, as part of a TV show. What's wrong with them wanting to make something and then having people encourage them?
>>
The only one I know is Park Eun-bin and she looks and acts completely different in every show.
>>
>>223468747
>You paint Koreans as victims of western
uhhh, ever heard of the korean war? they're a lot more than just victims of influence.
>>
>>223468790
more like Park Eun-throw-her-in-the-Bin she's washed
I like her too
>>
>>
>>223468989
What? that thing that happened 75 years ago?
>>
>>223468545
Yes, they are encouraged. Who else would be writing Netflix's sex scenes?
>>
>>223472828
It's Koreans writing them. Unless you think it's white westerners secretly doing it. And then just give the Koreans credit?
