So I decided to rewatch pic rel after many years since I watched it with my ex and loved it back then.Since many people claim that the film loses its charm while growing up, I was afraid I wasn't gonna like it anymore.I love it even more now than as a teen, it has everything I want in a movie: peculiar sense of humor (dad laughing at the teacher saying what Donnie told her never would stop being hilarious, and the Smurfette scene is better than any Tarantino dialogue), unique and immersive feeling while also having a weird tone through out it (this is also why Coraline is one of my favorite movies), tons of memorable scenes and quotes, and a mindfuck of a finale that, even if now I almost understood the whole thing, I still can't tell exactly what happened, and I think that's beautiful.I just don't get how someone could hate this, and I believe adults who claim that they "grew up" from it just lost their souls on the way.

>>223470637The plane engine went through a cellar door which causes the accident in Donnie's house at the start of the film, but it's actually a part of the plane where his mom and sister die in the future.The rabbit is a mix between Donnie's hallucinations and an actual entity that's trapped in the loophole, if you get killed during it, you'll be trapped there forever until it stops. This is why Frank touches his eye at the end of the movie.Now, I assume that with "the fire" you mean the scene where the sky is full of black clouds or smoke. This was a sign of the world coming to an end, because the loop was doomed since the engine messed it up. This is also why Donnie sacrifices himself at the very end, to free his loved ones out of the loop and saving their lifes.
