The creator was a nerdy and probably to some degree a self-hating nigger, at least at the time, and that made it probably the most sober and self aware piece of black media in America that has been made in a long time and definitely since it was running. It was very balanced in terms of humor and anyone could watch it and get something out of it/find a good joke to laugh at

It's one of the greatest inventions that a black man has made. Any episode that is trying to inform them to be better people, make fun of them for being shit people or hopeless people is when the show is at its best.
