They want to milk IPs and make bank and they pretty much control distribution too. Streaming killed rentals and they´ve even started to take over festivals lately so author and independent film makers don´t get many ways to reach audiences or make a profit these days. The number of small and meddle sized studios is like 3 or 5 so production is limited even if they do collaborations with foreign film associations and the like. You usually find out they made something "new" like 2 or 3 years after´s been done and only if you look for it yourself.
