The Smokey and the Bandit car was really popular after the movie. Too bad most of the cars from that era was cheaply built and didn't last long. The few that I rode in were horrible and would barely run worth a shit. They looked good when new but quickly fell apart.

They just wheeled a bunch of cars into a big lot and let the mechanics and prop guys just go fucking wild an build their childhood fantasy chopped up monster trucks and hotwheels cars. War Rig ends up being the real protagonist of the movie. I like the chromed out one from furiosa alright, but the fury road one has been through hell and bac and looks like it.

>>223486443If you've never checked it out, the mad max fury road video game is surprisingly good, and feels authentically mad max. The plot and throughline of the game is max loses the interceptor, and the game is spent upgrading your car until you can get the V8. They solve the ubisoft collectathon problem by making most of the crap you get for clearing out bandit camps result in upgrades and cosmetics for your car, or its doing a favor for someone who is going to give you an upgrade. The biggest flaw is that by the time you fully upgrade your car there's nothing to really do with it since you cleared out all the convoys and hideouts to get the upgraded car. One of the few times I finished a game and wished there was an expansion or a sequel in the works to put a little more meat on the bones. Max hardly speaks, they've got some memorable psychos, the movie is an immediate prequel to fury road so has some back story and references (like explaining who the little girl max saw in the flashbacks was). You can get it for cheap/free, and if you go in with low expectations you'll get a satisfying game that lasts a couple dozen hours. There's also a character called 'Jeet' which made me giggle every time I saw it because of context. One of those rare late age licensed games where the devs decided to put in a full days work instead of phoning it in, and the game is better than it should have been. Like x men origins: wolverine that had a wolverine that dismembered people and took physical persistent damage that lasted until you got blasted to smithereens, or you ran off and let your healing factor repair you.

When I saw grindhouse in the theater I was genuinely excited to have the challenger be the inciting incident and central to the plot in a movie with good old fashioned car stunts in the desert.
