Dilator of Destiny met the usual low standard for Indy sequels.
>Temple: infantile shit, but as an 80s film it is viewed through the nostalgia goggles.
>Crusade: rehash of Raiders with unfunny comedy crammed in, but again, nostalgia goggles.
>Skull: it was the same shit as before, but it compounded the offense by coming out in 2008 when fans were all over the age of 20. It seemed so much worse to eyes that were now older and less forgiving, and the cry went up: "George Lucas raped my childhood!"
>Dilator: really just another serving of the same shit, but the fans were even older and more jaded now, and there was a new culture-wars angle to seethe over.

Raiders was the only film in this franchise made with care and passion. Every other instalment has been nothing more than a cyncial and lazy squeeze of the cash-cow's teat.
