italians should be tall, waifish and ghostly
>>223543742I watched Terrifier 2 and 3 today
>>223543366Preferring Aliens, T2, Evil Dead 2 is reddit and always has been. Any sequel that de-horrifies for commercial appeal is not something I'm a fan of at all.The Devil's Rejects, Dawn of the Dead and a number of the Friday sequels are a few actual exceptions to muh original better rule because they go the other way and become even more punishing for the audience.I like Psycho II better than the first as well but maybe that's just because I'm a fag who loves slashers above all, and it's a post 80s slasher sleaze update to ol' Norman.
>>223543742Just put on Humanist Vampire
today I watched Jug Face (2013)

>>223543839her brother seemed like a dick I don't approve
Rise>Burn It's a bit of shame Nicki from Obsession stole all of this role's thunder because it was a pretty hot performance, and she was the most memorable Deadite in the movie. Most frustrating final 10 minutes in a horror movie I've ever seen Fuck your trauma, you stupid bitch just poke him with the one-tap kill dagger
>>223543742I have>The Devils >What Ever Happened to Baby JanePlus more The Terror
folk horror is fun
>>223543927The gay director stole her thunder by killing her off first. Imagine Scotty was the main villain throughout the original instead of Cheryl. Horror directors need to have an eye for women or they suck and the frogs are especially gay
>>223543827looks fun, i will give it a shot

>>223544063You think I'm about to put it on and I'll let you know in about a films length time
>>223543963I save folk horror for November
>>223544076Alright thanks anon, I'll go to bed
>>223543711Started off doing my normal marathon, house kitted out to the 9s. Then I fell flat on my face. My dryer conked out and I had to buy a new one. Then my washing machine went out. Then I found out I needed brake pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, and new tires. Then my cell phone screen stopped responding to touch. So yeah, pretty fucking depressed and my Halloween spirit is sapped.I did watch ANOES though just now and might just put on the second one. Thanks for reading my blog, remember to like and subscribe and call me a blogposting faggot.
>>223544051Might be cool but now I'm in the mood for Greek monsters
>>223544124I had the same thing last year with the washer and dryer needing to be replaced at the same time, sucks ass. ANOES is a kino start.
>>223544033Weinstein knew what he was doing
>>223544154Wouldn't have been so bad if the parts I bought for either of them had worked in solving my problem. Neither of my repairs worked. Oh well, cheers, Anon.
>>223544124you have a curse on you, i recommend a purification ritual

>>223544340>The Gorgon 1964>VHS 99These are both good, not sure about the rest
>>223544722one of those cases where I'd order them the exact reverse of whoever made that comment.Ti West has the most films that are enjoyable and has been making films the longest.
>>223543927Burn had so much potential. The house/environment was great, the characters themselves were set up well. but damn the frog director fucking sucks. >lets have silly grandma moments>lets have deadites with a specific goal>lets have dad + dog stand outside for 40 minutes staring at the house>lets have fake trauma>lets have the worst final deadite of all timei mean come on it's like whoever made this didn't even really like Evil Dead.

>>223544867ain't got no agua
>>223544805It might seem small in the whole scheme but I hated that they picked a jackhammer for the final weapon. Because a jackhammer wouldn't mulch someone up like that, it'd just pound straight through him like a pincushion. idk what I'd have gone with but not that.
>>223544892i mean he was crispy bacon at that point. a strong wind could have blown him apart. dumbass spent the whole movie walking to the house turning into embers only to have to walk all the way back to the funeral home construction site lol

>>223545664It's probably not fair for me to say that either version of either of those films are better than another because they are all great. It's just that I prefer the American remakes. Liking Naomi Watts a lot may have something to do with it.
A Dark Song will be my first spooky film of October. I don't know how to follow, what's the best option of theae sagas? Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Elm Street, Friday 13th, VHS.

>>223543711I was really excited about Breeder when I first heard about it, but I have a feeling it's not going to get a wide release. I buy all my movie tickets through fandango and they don't even have a page for it despite it coming out in less than a month.

I watched "Identity" (2003) and I liked it. Finally a proper movie, made by a real studio, with a good script and real actors. You may say it's only psychological horror, but this movie has atmosphere and it gets pretty creepy towards the end. A storm has the roads flooded in rural Nevada and ten strangers end up stranded together in a remote motel. They are being killed one by one and struggle to find out who's the killer before it's too late. But not only does the story come with a twist, it also has a second final twist in the end. 8/10, I found it a good watch, can recommend.
>>223546419beloved retardkino
>>223546419>finallyIt's from 47 years ago, bro
>>223546419Yes, I like it a lot. Good cast and atmosphere.
Planet Terror has aged incredibly
>>223546433I wish Tarantino had bothered to make his as interesting
>>223546419I consider it a classic. I've watched it a few times over the years.
>>223546410You’re retarded
>>223546439Death Proof is also good but its initial reception is completely understandable when you follow up a high adrenaline film like Terror with a incredibly dialogue-heavy and relatively much slower film
>>223546439>>223546433deathproof is way better than any rodriguez joint, tarantula's top 3 at least. planet terror's not even bad though, tarantino has a much better influence on rodriguez than the reverse.
>>223546419I really didn't like it though I wanted to so I'm glad you did. I believe the movie references And Then There Were None on top of being somewhat similar to it, which isn't horror but is a great book and it's also only like 300 pages so I would recommend it if you liked the set up of this one.
>>223546459>tarantula's top 3 at leastcontrarian as fuck
>>223546389Title is Sai (2025)I plan to watch it soon
>>223546459rodriguez is id to tarantino's egoit's nice and hard to complain that robert is happy and prosperous with spy kids but you gotta wonder what would have happened if they really continued working in tandem and collaborating
>>223545633It’s bizarre to remake such a thoughtful exploration of loneliness in the technological era and turn it into brainless schlock.
>>223546505he doesn't have a lot of hits to be honest, after he got cash money he's just been poorly aping exploitation shit he saw as a kid.>>223546516and if i had to name #1 tarantino piece of them all it's the first act of from dusk til dawn. a perfect fusion.
>>223546522they were literally just picking j-horror plot synopsis based on how much money they made domesticallythat's the only reason it and something like one missed call or dark water got remadethe ring worked, the grudge kind of worked, so they were willing to do anything else that made money
>>223546455you're not refuting my point so you know that on some level i'm correct
in this house we take slow-burning visceral j horror and add boobs and jumpscares
>>223546321>Mike Flanagan's New Stephen King Series Officially Hits Career Low on Rotten Tomatoesidk 83% is still pretty decent. Really this just shows how successful his career has been.

>“Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II” (citywide) is the “Blue Velvet” of high school horror picturesI'm not sure what he means by this but it sounds like I should watch this movie.
>>223546553This is surprising lack of tits in j horror. Aren't they supposed to be the number one porn producer? Don't they have ludicrous amounts of idols to draw from?

>>223546823Worth watching in cinema?
>>223546829i still like the horror stuff, but yeah. everything before that is elevated. its more psychological horror than standard fantasy stuff
>>223546725Looks sick. Cool choice too, might have to rewatch Demons this year.
One of the best horror movies that came out in that awkward time between the 90s and 2000s yet has horrible reviews Was it the pedo stigma????

>>223546844It depends if you have the specific tastes it goes for. French historical Catholic nuns and cardinals with erotica and some humor. Have you seen Flesh and Blood?
>>223546460>And Then There Were NoneI know at least three movie renditions of the Agathe Christie novel, but I thought "Identity" was different enough from it. One of the women (forgot if it was Paris or Ginny) mentions "And Then There Were None" in "Identity": "Hey, do you guys remember the movie where some people on an island are murdered one by one?"

i watched 85 one halloween and its not worth it. everything starts to blend. a good, solid selection of 31 films, new and old is better. no need to 'whale' movies
>>223546993Yes, but the trope of characters getting picked off one by one is found in so many movies, especially horror. And yesterday or the day before I found out that it's not even Agatha Christie who came up with that, one Anon posted here that she got the idea from the movie "The 9th Guest" that came out 5 years before her novel.

>>223546544But they clearly put in effort with the ring, and the grudge they just gave the original filmmaker the resources to make the same thing with better production values and Sarah Michelle Gellar. It’s still strange to me whenever studios do pic related, and American Pulse is the biggest example I can think of.
>>223547327Two successful movies that are similar in some way is all it takes for studios to try and force a trend.

>>223547488What kino?
i really like how the whalefall trailer ends, with the titles closing in on austin's face as the music blaresit's neatstill pretty unsure about the film itself. concept has potential for something really lean and mean but it's 1h47m and a lot of that must be taken up by family drama

>>223545810Too often with these Shudder Originals I find myself thinking the plot is going in a certain direction and then, like you said, nothinghappens.jpgLike for example I really thought Ms. Downey was going to turn out to be Mrs. Hilshire somehow, either as a ghost or the real one. Also thought maybe it was a Shudder Island situation where Edward was actually admitted to the hospital and was imagining everything about being a security guard.Good idea, subpar execution imo.
>>223548750I just got back from drinking at the perfect time to rant kek.I wasn't 100 about the Ms. Downey situation either. I think the biggest miss was going so low budget at the end. They needed some more mannequin transformation content. Especially the last segment, and the final scene, because the glitches and camera shaking were copouts. I hate digital glitching in found footage, it's just annoying. That said I did feel a pull to watch the last part again and see if I missed something or could come up with a schizo interpretation.
>>223543762Evil Dead 1 is garbage with no horror that's just an entertaining 20 mins special effect demo at the end.T1 and T2 are both great movies, but T2 elevates itself precisely by being different and contrasting its tone with the first. While T1 is basically the greatest 80s slasher film ever made that happens to be sci-fi, T2 leans heavily into being a sci-fi thriller focusing on the psychology of Sarah and how she responds to everything threatening all she's fought for and the lengths she'll go to defend that. There's more 'horror' in that than watching her run away from Arnie in T1, as well executed as that was.I really love how strongly "of their decade" both films are, despite not being made that long apart.
>>223543927>that stinger at the endDoes anyone really care about the deadite mom from Rise other than the simps on this board? I was basically saying "fuck off" at the screen.
Out of curiosity, was there any movie/film/direct-to-tape/whatever that took place AFTER the murder, and is about the police/coroner trying to figure out what happened?I vaguely remember some video advertisement for Texas Chainsaw Massacre that was just that, and there's Rashomon, and there was that Trilogy of Terror thing but this one turns into horror, and that failure Autopsy of Jane Doe, but nothing that's really just figuring out what happened, the investigators are always in danger at one point or another.
>>223547767Finished it. Hot damn that was a great movie. I got annoyed at some parts where the sister wouldn't smartly call for help but could ignore it with how good overall it was. Best horror of this October so far for me.
>>223548799I also thought Edward had been turned into a mannequin but he was just sitting catatonic in a wheelchair; who had the camera? Who was chasing him down to the basement and then attacked him after he slapped Downey? i hate vague endings like that.
>>223548864there's Curse of the Blair Witch, as a connection to The Blair Witch Project
Are the two Town That Dreaded Sundown movies worth watching? I've heard the first has shitty humor which I cannot stand in slashers.
>>223548886I hope that's not Blair Witch 2, I watched that one and damn I hated it. I'll check the name out, thanks.
>>223546725Cemetery Man is excellent of course, but seeing this made me want to watch some more of his movies, so I have decided to put this on.
>>223548877I don't mind them, I just thought it was a bit plain. My interpretation was that Downey was Wilshire, and she had learned some kind of face reforming witchcraft to change who she was (which she was partway through). He was being chased by one of the mannequin people, either a former patient or someone else she had transformed. And yes he was going to converted into a mannequin as well. That's why I feel like the ending needed a special effect to hint at something. Or even go with the surgery pictured in the book he had.
>>223548965Oh, right. What's your opnion about Phenomena?
>>223548989I remember it being really good but it's been a long time since I saw it. Maybe I should throw that on the October list for a sneaky rewatch. It's been a while since I saw any giallos in truth.
>>223549018I remember getting nightmares for it. Then again, I was used to American mediocre slop, this was the first Italian movie I watched, and damn, the first-person camera is campy in Evil Dead, but in that movie, it scared me good.
>>223548989nta but it's both ridiculous and kino. a blender of ideas.
>>223548864A police procedural?
>>223548864There's very bad found footage movie done like a documentary that does that. Everything is interviews and photos after the fact. Forget the name
>>223549198Police, or just amateurish detectives. I'm still looking for that movie that doesn't exist where gentlemen gather in '20-'30 to discuss interesting cases while smoking and drinking in impeccable clothes.
>>223548828>Evil Dead 1 is garbage with no horror>Evil Dead 1>no horrorwhat?
Learned waifu extraordinare Audrey Hepburn is in a horror movie called Wait Until Dark. Time to watch
>>223549226You should read Asimov's Black Widower short stories.
>>223549295Will check it, thanks senpai.
>>223549225I remember a very good one, now that you say it. Something about zombies attacking a town, and you see everything through pictures taken by the local immigrant.
>>223549468there was a pretty decent one about a sheriff's department and a lone journalist investigating an attack near the border.
>>223549493Savageland, right. It's the one I'm thinking of.
Who the hell is bottom-middle?
>>223549602Gwen Jones, it's from the tv show
Never watched any of the newer Halloween or Evil Dead movies. Which ones do you like the most?
>>223549843zombie's halloweens had good violence but abysmal writing/filmmaking. didn't watch the other ones.new evil deads are basically for-hire stuff with each new one having a director coming in and giving it their own flavour. i found things to like about all of them but there isn't really a particularly spectacular one. they're worth watching though.
>>223549843I don’t think I liked a single one of the new Halloween trilogy films
>>223548728Lovely
>>223549869>>223549965Apologies, I did watch the Zombie's ones which I really liked. I was talking about the new trilogy they made after thatThank you frens, might watch the new Evil Dead later
>>223549989I never watched the new trilogy either. Didn't bother with H20 or Resurrections either.
>>223543762>Evil Dead 2 is reddit Evil Dead 2 is horror comedy - NOT FUCKING REDDIT!!!!
list of banned films- horror comedy- horror scifi - horror slowburn- horror thriller
>>223550108filtered
>>223550049>Didn't bother with H20 or Resurrections either.well that's a wise choise, anon
>>223550209choice* haven't slept for awhile
>>223544641No
>>223544722If this is what people are praising in the genre these days, no wonder shit sucks. Peele and Eggers have some tolerable films, the rest are utter baloney.
>>223550209It didn't appeal to me at the time and still doesn't. I felt like the 6 movies was enough and later the Zombie remakes were enough to satisfy any more from Michael. This pattern of Hollywood rinse and repeating everything multiple times has worn thin.
>>223546787Prom Night II is solid.
>>223547174Your brother's dumb. Go play Resident Evil 4. The original version.
Gonna bake the new thread at bump limit.
>>223550108Disrespect Shaun of the Dead and you didrespect me.
>>223550209I just remember what JLC said about them.
>>223550408>>223550408>>223550408
>>223549243The movie sucks balls even as a "so bad that it's good" low budget 'parody' of horror. It's just boring and a dull slog to watch up till near the end. Gore doesn't horror make.
>>223550308>Resident Evil 4>Not even original RE1There's no reason not to play the first game first unless you think the series is some glorified action title
>>223549602Huston was perfect casting
>>223550108My recommendation to you for this Halloween:- Tucker and Dale vs Evil- Event Horizon- Hagazussa- Misery
>>223550493Jesus you're an idiot
