"Can we just talk about the bonus situation?"
>>223564511There no bonus situation, only a space rabid monke situation
>suddenly moon piratesReally?
>>223566227Would you prefer butt pirates?
>>223564476maybe they should have mitigated it
>>223564476the worst scifi movie i ever did see
>>223564476about to marathon the teaser trailer, what am I in for?
>>223564476Legit 10/10 sci fi kino, interstellar sisters still coping
>>223566641something that's better than the movie
>>223564476Pretentious flick with dumb action in regular intervals. Looks nice though
>>223566227yeah that was weirdalso:>be carefull there are pirates we cant protect you>suddenly being attacked>calling for help and out of nowhere thery have air strikes to bomb the pirates
>>223564476Now here's a real underrated scifi movie.
>>223564476the meeting with the dad is a disappointment. if the dad is misanthropic, he shouldn't care about finding aliens. rewrite this shit, and don't make them talk about their family problems, no one cares. also remove the forced good ending
>>223564476Unexpectedly good, kinda weird it's not talked about more
>>223566824Damn right, it's a comfortable slow burn, which is why people hated it - they wanted marvel slop style action 24/7.
>>223566682>we can't protect youThey meant they're not going to send out the cavalry with them for an intimidating show of force.
>>223566824I love SF and it filtered me. What did I miss? Should I give it another go?
After watching that thing, I felt as if my IQ had dropped by 50 points from 140 to 90. Now I work at Walmart, and I’m very happy with my life.Great movie.
>>223566880Was it the emotional sentiment of trying to reconnect with his father?
>>223566880It's an anti-space movie.
>>223568037kikes need space travel to be verbotten because then actual humans would try to escape this jewish earth
>James Gray Says ‘Ad Astra’ Was ‘Taken Away’ From Him and Made Longer by 20th Century Fox: ‘It Would Have Been a Very Different Movie’ >“I control everything completely on this [‘Paper Tiger’] and, actually, I didn’t on ‘Ad Astra.’ That film was taken away from me. That’s not my cut of the movie,” he said. “You get into discussions and debates, there’s a studio, then the studio [20th Century Fox] got sold to Disney. You get caught in that stuff. The movie was $80 million, ‘Paper Tiger’ was $15 million.” >When asked his how his version differed to the studio’s edit of “Ad Astra,” he said there were considerable changes.>“It would have been a very different movie,” he said, adding: “It would be 12 minutes shorter. I’m the only director who makes a shorter director’s cut. I hope someday I’ll do it. I mean, it’s obviously not up to me, but I would love to do it — it would be thrilling for me.”https://variety.com/2026/film/news/james-gray-ad-astra-taken-away-by-studio-1236758244/
>>223568257True
>>223564476awful film.
>>223566227The concept of parts of the moon being like international waters with pirates is a good one. The problem is the types of vehicles everyone drives there, how they don't seem to care about having extra protection against the vacuum
>>223566736This works, too.
>>223568473>they don't seem to care about having extra protection against the vacuumTheir portrayal was not incorrect, nor unrealistic. Airplanes fly tens of thousands of feet above the ground at hundreds of miles per hour and yet their protection is so flimsy that if they impact a building or the ground they disintegrate into atoms.
>>223568620so you're saying everything will be fine as long as nobody... accidentally makes the moon's atmosphere a vacuum? is this what i'm meant to draw from your comparison?
>>223568620planes are not meant to smash into things. space vehicles KINDA require the ability to protect against the lack of air from what i gather.
>>223568667Did you gather that from the film? Looks like the space vehicles, moon buggys, worked just fine in the vacuum. They kinda rely on you not having an accident, like your plane analogy.
>>223568620>>223568774If you're expecting to be shot at, it would be better to at least be enclosed in the walls and windows of a car than be completely exposed like on those moon rovers. And if you're a military or company that's high tech enough to have built a moon base, you should easily be able to provide your men with armored vehicles better than regular cars
>>223568774>Looks like the space vehicles, moon buggys, worked just fine in the vacuum"looks like westeros has starbucks what's the problem?"
>>223568774no the film is what was being taken into question. i gathered my knowledge of vacuums and their power from many sources across my lifetime. Why is conversing productively such a struggle for you?
>>223564476Gave me apocalypse now vibes, I liked it.
>>223568806>>223568814 Being in a car while being shot at by militaries is a false sense of security. Plenty of YT vids demonstrate this. So no, it's not better to be in a car. High tech and high dollar aren't the same thing. You'd send a tank and APC convoy if you're high-dollar, not necessarily if you're high-tech. Obviously, they cheaped out on this guy. Bureaucracy is a thing, or didn't you notice the DIE hire that was supervising him while on the moon? Seems they had better things to spend their money on than armoured convoys to transport a single pilot.>>223568814>westerosI don't know what that is. Should I have lurked more?>>223568837>losing argument = other guy cannot converse productivelyDid you also gather from these sources that the moon buggys used in the actual supposed moon landings had zero bulletproof shields on them? They seemed to work just fine for their purpose of ferrying one guy around.
>>223568906>Obviously, they cheaped out on this guyExcept it goes both ways, both them and the pirates are making the retarded tactical decision to use that combo of armaments and no protection other than their space suits. Why is it such a symmetrical conflict, that way?
>>223568620Why don't they make airplanes out of Saudi passports?
What a shitty boring movie
>>223569020That's not explained so I can only surmise that in a future where moon/Mars travel is so commonplace that literal pirates start to appear, they would be not unlike modern pirates such as you'd see in the Somali or Malacca straits. They're not particularly well-equipped, either. They couldn't take on an armoured convoy but they saw a simple, open buggy and thought it would be easy pickings.
