Maybe, but why are they fighting?
>>
>>223566663
so the movie can happen

It'd be funnier to have them fight themselves from 20 years ago when they didn't suck as much.

It's more like 30 years at this point
>>
>>223566695
it sure would be nice to see them fight like they did in the arcade
>>

I fully expect The Simpsons to be one of if not the very first major studio production to just start using AI for the VA, but we're not there yet and if you've been unfortunate enough to hear what most of the cast sounds like these days, that is not possible.
>>
>>223566406
Are they going to look the same or magically aged? Reminder Bart would be 47 today

simpsons in 2026
>homer spend several years in prison because he was part of the jan 6 crowd
>bart is shitposting on twitter while working a dead end job
>lisa went into no contact with her family 10 years ago, changed her name and is working as an AI safety researcher after falling for the EA cult
>barnie is now calls herself barnette
>lenny & carl are a gay couple that have a popular podcast

What about mr burns? Did they eat the rich?!

Milhousebros are they going to make fun of us again?

how are they going to voice the older versions, considering they already sound 80 years old as their normal versions?

>franchise that has been shit for over 20 years continues to be shit
What a surprise.
>>
>>223566695
They sucked pretty bad 20 years ago. Who Shot Mr. Burns was 31 fucking years ago. Sorry to break it to you.
>>
>20 years in the future
who's marge going to fight then

2006 Simpsons was on the decline. I think you mean 30 years ago.

Are you expecting her to die? I know Julie Kavner sounds like she's on the brink of death but in enough time her voice will be replaced by AI. Sadly that's one thing that will keep this goddamn series going forever when all of the voice actors pass away.

Yeardley Smith is the best actor on the show, so if they write to concentrate on her character it should pan out.

What does a 'Showrunner' oversee on an animated production?
>>
>>223567790
>a curious hybrid of starry-eyed artists and tough-as-nails operational managers. They're not just writers; they're not just producers. They hire and fire writers and crew members, develop story lines, write scripts, cast actors, mind budgets and run interference with studio and network bosses. It's one of the most unusual and demanding, right-brain/left-brain job descriptions in the entertainment world....Showrunners make – and often create – the show and now more than ever, shows are the only things that matter. In the "long tail" entertainment economy, viewers don't watch networks. They don't even care about networks. They watch shows. And they don't care how they get them.

Was the show's decline attributable to the showrunners, or to the way that production is handled now with the switch to digital animation? In an interview with Conan one of the writers mentioned how they used to have
>First pitch to someone like James Brooks + outline
>2nd draft of outline + draft
>2nd draft + the room rewrite
>readthrough and audio cut like an old time radio show (which is what influenced Swarzwelder)
>storyboard alterations + notes from directors like brad bird
>animatic + 2nd storyboard
> color cels come back from korea + 3rd storyboard where they still have an option to re-dub character's mouths.

I'm just wondering how much of this 'traditional hand-drawn animated movie' will revive any part of that process, but I'm assuming it's nowhere near that complex. Was this production process documented on video in the 90's? Did it end up on any of the DVDs?

>>
>>223567919
there's simply zero way a concept like the simpsons doesn't run dry eventually. the show is borderline unrecognizable these days if you were to just read the script sans the voices and character designs as it is, it's had to change itself entirely to remain airing at all
>>
>>223566406
I thought it would be a multiverse plot that’s a decade too late in line with modern Simpsons.
>>
>>223566406
The Simpsons movie was trash. They were going to make one around S5. Shame they waited until it absolutely fell off.

It stopped influencing pop-culture and instead became influenced by it. Also, no TV show could be good for 30 fucking years.

Old Episode:
>Springfield gets a Monorail it doesn't need
>Maggie shoots Mr. Burns
>Homer buys a gun and is careless with it

New Episode:
>Homer gets an ipad
>Lady Gaga visits Springfield
>Elon Musk visits Springfield
>Lisa learns about TikTok
>Bart streams on Twitch
>>
>dude, what if characters but older?
They've done this like five times already.
Just commit to aging up the characters permanently, if you're so in love with it.

Also, why not just make a Treehouse of Horror movie, if they're going to do zany science fiction stuff? At least go all in with it.
>>
>>223566406
What's Marge going to sound like in 30 years? Also will they be going with one of the pre-established future settings?
>>
>>223569005

I meant 20 years.

>Homer buys a gun and is careless with it
That is a Season 9 episode. By Simpsons fan standards, it's during the decline era.
>>
>>223569137
Only very strict people think season 9 is bad by any stretch.
Maybe the decline had started, but it was still a great show.
When you get into the double digits is where the quality really plummets like a rock. particularly after season 12. It just keeps getting worse.
>>
>>223566406
Who wants this shit? The only people who still watch the show are habit-watchers who just can't let go of an old habit. FOX itself doesn't even hardly show it anymore.
>>
Christ how many future simpsons episodes have we already had at this point.
>>
So they just make this shit to retain the rights, correct?
>>
>>223566663
Mind the gap
>>
>>223569494
Retain rights to what? The Simpsons are owned outright by Disney
>>
>>223569550
Film rights are separate from TV rights, require a separate trademark that can expire after a certain amount of time with no activity
>>
>>223566663
At the end of the movie, Future Simpsons kill current Simpsons, creating a paradox that destroys the Simpsons universe, and ends the show forever.

>It has been a longer stretch of time from the first Simpsons movie to its sequel than it was between the shows first season and the first movie

How are they going to make the characters sound older? Just tear up rotten sacks next to the microphone?
>>
is autistic to say the show drops the ball in season 8? I was rewatching it a while back and I feel the jokes and overall quality of the show absolutely takes a nosedive during S8. Its a myriad of things that aren't up to par - Just the jokes per minute going down, the show feeling more flanderized, and the show hinging its big moments on gags that dont fully deliver - it seems to match up with the directors commentary mentioning how they stopped doing overtime rewrites of the episodes
