>>223567399I kind of understand her hate for trannies. Imagine being a woman who has been denied opportunities left and right, whether or not it was actually because of her gender idk but she still percieved it as that. You finally manage to make a really good book after years of trying, somebody finally gives you a chance, the book is so good infact that it spawns a billion dollar media franchise. Life is good, people celebrate and herald you as the most successful and brave woman of all time and you worked hard for that. Then one day in 2015 you turn on the tv, the most brave and successful woman is no longer you, its a man. A man who decided one day to just dress up like a girl and who got showered with praise because of it. Its not horrendous though, its an isolated incident and Bruce Jenner is at least an Olympic athelete. But then, it becomes worse. More men start transitioning, the same men who had been putting down woman in the work place, who had been denying biological women opportunities were now being celebrated for chopping their cocks off and proclaiming>I AM WOMANMust be maddening

>>223571562Yeah but then Rowling has this really weird paragraph where hermione suggests using the boys bathroom and fleur goes on a 3 page rant about how only evil and stupid people would do that until hermione apologises.
>>223567399They just de-transitioned Draco back into Ethel Hollow.
>>223571562>Don't Hermione and Fleur literally turn into dudes using polyjuice potionPolyjuice Potion technically just clones somebody straight up, the gender switch happens if you're cloning someone of an opposite gender but you're not really after the ability to be another gender so much as being a perfect stand in for someone else. We can assume that with her brilliant rhetoric about trans problems in general that she falls on the side of it not being transsexuality related due to it being magical, temporary and not specifically for taking on a gender of choice. In other words her reasoning for being against transgenders is about as solid as her writing in general.
>>223572974Thank you
Black Snape.
Okay, but HOW does Malfoid actually improve the story? No coom-brained reasons either. Give me some narrative weight.
>>223573667Simple. Think about how the story starts. When Lily sacrifices herself, the narrative doesn't frame it as a transcendent spiritual victory; it frames it as an invocation of "ancient magic" that literally re-routes a curse. Love, in canon, is highly weaponized. It acts as a shield charm in the first book, a painful repellant to possession in the fifth, and a blood-ward that keeps Harry safe at the Dursleys. Because love is treated as a mechanical rule of the universe, it loses the weight that comes from characters making difficult, active choices to forgive, heal, or change. This also extends to the villains, which completely kneecaps the theme of redemption. Voldemort isn't a tragic fallen figure who lost his way; the narrative implies that because he was conceived under a love potion, he is functionally incapable of understanding love. That removes any spiritual dimension from his defeat. There is no battle for his soul, and his death isn't a tragedy—he is just a monster that eventually needs to be put down. Ultimately, Harry wins by being the rightful owner of the weapon (the Elder Wand), not by achieving a higher moral or spiritual victory. The lack of a "higher dimension" is also why the world-building ultimately feels so bureaucratic and cynical by the end. The Ministry of Magic, the banking system, school exams—magic is just a tool to make mundane human life more convenient or to exert power over others, not a bridge to a higher state of being or enlightenment.
>>223573667
>>223573749Here’s another thing too: what does Harry ACTUALLY sacrifice? When you look closely at what Harry actually chooses to sacrifice—rather than what the narrative violently strips away from him—his sacrifices are almost entirely external and material, rather than internal or ideological. Here is what Harry actively chooses to sacrifice in canon:>ultimate powerThis is Harry’s strongest canonical sacrifice. He chooses to drop the Resurrection Stone in the forest and leave it lost, and he chooses to repair his own wand and reject the Elder Wand. He actively sacrifices the temptation of absolute power, which is what separates him from Voldemort and Dumbledore.>comfort and belongingHe actively sacrifices his seventh year at Hogwarts (the only true home he ever had) and breaks up with Ginny to go starve in a tent for months.>his own lifeHe willingly walks into the forest to die to protect the defenders of the castle. But looking at this through the lens of the "spiritual vs. materialist" discussion, notice what Harry never has to sacrifice: his ego, his worldview, or his moral high ground.Because Harry is a traditional, inherently pure-hearted Chosen One, he starts the story morally correct and ends the story morally correct. He never has to experience the agonizing internal sacrifice of realizing his beliefs were wrong. He never has to burn down his own identity. He never has to betray the people who raised him to do the right thing. When Harry sacrifices, it is always the noble sacrifice of a martyr giving up a physical thing (a wand, a safe bed, his body). The narrative bends over backward to ensure his soul remains perfectly pristine. Even when he uses Unforgivable Curses in the final book (casting Crucio on Amycus Carrow or Imperio on the goblin), the narrative immediately excuses it as righteous necessity. He doesn't fracture his soul; he doesn't have to carry the spiritual weight of having been a monster.
>>223573786This, conversely, is why Malfoid works so well.In the original books, Draco’s "redemption" is essentially just him realizing that being a wizard Nazi actually fucking sucks rather than being a fun, elite country club and that it puts his life in danger. He doesn't experience a profound moral awakening; he just wants to survive. When the battle ends, the Malfoys just sit awkwardly in the Great Hall. They don't fight back, they don't actively atone, and they don't sacrifice anything for the right side. They just slink away because they stopped participating at the absolute last, most convenient second. It’s a redemption of self-preservation, not of the soul. It implies that "being good" just means deciding not to say slurs anymore once the war is lost.Malfoid’s AU redemption completely flips this because it requires active, agonizing sacrifice. She doesn't just passively decide prejudice is wrong. Her worldview is violently dismantled through trauma and human connection. She has to actively MAKE the choice of actively pointing her wand at Voldemort and choosing to die for the people she was raised to eradicate. She has to sacrifice her desperate need for her parents' approval, her societal safety, and her belief that she is superior. She has to humiliate herself, admit she was wrong, and willingly cross enemy lines to stand with the people she tormented.Harry sacrifices objects and safety; Malfoid has to sacrifice who she is to become someone better.
>>223573749>>223573786>>223573805Holy kino
>>223569192This would have been a way better movie.
>>223568152r34 is one of the oldest rules of the internetKill every cretin in this thread
>>223569208It's pretty unlikely. Despite being insanely overly online on Twitter, JK basically just sticks to political sperging. She basically has next to no interaction with the HP Fandom. The only time she even talks about HP at all is to announce official releases of things. She's really not like other creators that interact with their fans, respond to viral trends, etc. She really is just on Twitter 24/7 to talk about how much trannies suck. She also kind of has an uneasy relationship with her more chuddy supporters. At the end of the day she's still a libtard through and through. She just happens to take issue with some (not even all) aspects of trannydom. So she's never flipped to the right like the Dilbert guy or something. Which basically means she's even more unlikely to comment on Malfoid. Since the name of the trend is literally a slur for women.
>>223573805Another aspect: is Harry bringing Malfoid away from darkness the easy choice? I mean, sure, from our vantage point it's easy because we already decided the outcome, but is it within the setting as the character experiences each moment? Not at all. Hell, if we keep the (suspected) betrayal we even have a moment where Harry feels he was wrong, he was used, he was an idiot. By defining love as the active choice to will Malfoid into good, you turn Harry's arc into a profound, agonizing spiritual trial. To actually pull her out of the darkness, he has to completely sacrifice his own ego and self-preservation.From a purely logical, materialist standpoint, Ron and Hermione are 100% right. She's the enemy, she made her choices, and she gave him every reason to leave her to burn. Choosing to save her means Harry has to willingly look like a naive, used idiot. He has to sit in the dark of the Manor cellar fully believing he got played, and he has to swallow the very real possibility that if he reaches his hand out into the Fiendfyre, she might just pull him down with her.It perfectly mirrors Frodo continually sparing Gollum against Sam's strictly logical advice. Harry isn't saving her because she "earned" it or because it's an easy YA romance beat. He's saving her because extending that radical grace is the only way to actually break the generational cycle of the war. It makes that final struggle in the courtyard actually mean something, because they both had to walk through absolute hell and sacrifice their own pride to stand next to each other. Peak kino.
>>223569711You don't know anything about JK Rowling or why she has the stance that she does on trannies...It's because she's a domestic abuse survivor that had to stay in a women's shelter at one point before Harry Potter when she was broke and being abused. After she got rich she has basically continuously donated to Women's Shelters around the UK because of her past experiences. Then the Tranny thing happened and one of their main grievances was to be allowed into Women's spaces, not just Bathrooms but Women's Shelters as well. Obviously it's regularly come to light that some of these trannies once allowed into women's spaces then go on to assault or abuse women. That's why Rowling took the original stance that she has. Over the years she's been painted as the ultimate transphobe tranny killer 9000 but she literally has said many times before she has no issue with trans people. She just doesn't believe they should be admitted into somewhere like a Women's Shelter full of battered women that have just been beat up by men.The shit you wrote has literally nothing to do with anything about her and her issues with trannies.

We now know how Harry potter would have went if Draco was a girl. But how would it have went if Draco had a Twin Sister?
People wanting this tsundere weeaboo shit is so pathetic when what the films really needed was a Ginny actress that actually grew up into the 10/10 redheaded bombshell stacy she is described as in the books. Like literally she is supposed to be the hottest and most popular girl in Hogwarts, made total sense that they would be attracted to eachother and the childhood friend -> lover trope is the far superior anime trope anywaysI cant really blame the writers though when they realized Hermione was going to be way more attractive, they were basically forced to turn Ginny into a girl-next-door type with offscreen feats. It was just unlucky to be honest. Its too bad the girl that got cast as Ginny ended up turning down the role, you could tell that was going to pay off later on in the series.

>>223573912Deja vu from the other thread I seeAnyway, I don't know if YA literature can ever be as deep and profound as Tolkien's works (Lewis tried and it... Well, let's just agree to disagree on whether it was good). You can certainly put complex themes in it, but I don't think the target audience for HP would have understood (at the time) the meaning of profound self-sacrifice and mercy.Children must first be told stories where monsters are simple and ultimately destroyed. Only later on should they be told the monsters are always lurking in our own selves.
>>223574816Maybe if Rowling didn't forget Ginny existed for books 3 and 4 and had her as anything but DA lieutenant #2 next to Luna and Neville in 5.

>>223575013Rowling really didn't plan anything out. No stories are completely void of plotholes, but HP is especially plagued. I think Rowling didn't expect book 1 to be such a wild fucking success, and basically had to make up everything after as she wrote.

>>223567399SHOW ME YOUR FUCKING TITS
>>223575196Off the top of my head: >Time Turners: Introduced for a tidy climax in Prisoner of Azkaban, they created such a massive, world-breaking plot hole (why not use them to stop Voldemort?) that Rowling literally had to have Neville accidentally smash the entire global supply in the Department of Mysteries in Book 5 just to write herself out of the corner.>Thestrals: Harry watches Cedric die, yet does not see the Thestrals pulling the carriages to the Hogwarts Express at the end of Book 4. Rowling later admitted in interviews that she simply didn't want to introduce a dark new concept at the very end of a book, resulting in a glaring continuity error she had to hand-wave by claiming the "trauma hadn't sunk in yet.">The Fidelius Charm: James and Lily die because they entrust their location to Peter Pettigrew instead of Sirius. Yet in Book 7, Arthur Weasley and Bill Weasley act as the Secret Keepers for their OWN respective houses. If you can be your own Secret Keeper, the entire inciting tragedy of the franchise is a contrived plot hole.>Wand Allegiance: The climax of the entire series hinges on the hyper-specific mechanic that disarming an opponent transfers their wand's allegiance. Yet for six books, students disarm each other constantly in the Dueling Club, DA meetings, and standard combat without their wands suddenly refusing to work for them.
>>223575268>Time turnersDon't actually let you *change* anything in the timeline. That's why outside of niche uses (taking two classes at the same time) they're rarely used. You can also only go back a few hours, tops.>>but they did change the time-No, they didn't, because they already had. That is a woman moment. That is two men protecting Malfoy(id) and makes far more sense as a teen girl out of her depth compared to being an unredeemably weak man. JKR is a woman writing men like women, so ironically she wrote all these mean girl moments for malfoy that are not male social or physical bullying. It's made people really, really hate malfoy for decades. Rule63 though and it all clicks into place.
>>223568152As a veteran fapper, the concept of turning Draco into a girl existed on fanfiction sites as far back as 2001. It's not exactly in the realm of trannyism, its got more of a masculine tinge, it's the idea that turning a protagonist's snobby rival into a chick and making him submit to his enemy is kind of hot. Contrast this trend with the recent Petra Parker trend on Twitter which primarily depicted everyone in Peter's life validating his transition into Spiderwoman. There's no such delusions in this art trend. In fact, most of the Malfoid art acts like Draco has always been a woman so it's really just yandere fetishism.
>>223574816>and the childhood friend -> lover trope is the far superior anime trope anywaysYeah, but Ginny doesn't fit that mould. Really Harry ended up fucking his best friend's little sister, and that kinda skeezy. Harry only got with Ginny because Rowling thought him getting with Hermoine would be too cliche (I think she even admitted that she regretted pairing Hermoine with Ron).Harry getting with Malfoid works, not just because of Enemies to Lovers, but because it also helps complete the narrative arc of Gryffindor and Slytherin. Both houses are known for creating some of the most powerful witches and wizards to ever exist, but while Gryffindors all get bathed in love and friendship and tend to become brave heroes, Slytherins get treated as vicious outsiders and shunned constantly even as children. Harry being the poster child for Gryffindor finally breaking the cycle and reaching out and showing a Slytherin love helps bring the entire house out of the darkness they were cast into by the rampant prejudice of wizard society. It would also help weaken Voldermort because he wouldn't have an entire army of recruits waiting to join because everyone else treats them like shit.

>>223574816Ginny is typical of modern women in that she's a slut. She's going around, snogging all the boys at Hogwarts to the point where Ron feels he has to say something, but he can't because it's true. She isn't playing the field so much as throwing herself out there without a care. A female Draco is at least aristocratic, and therefore much more discerning. So when she lets down her walls and lets Harry in, it means so much more than when the school bicycle finally lets Harry have a turn after being ridden by the whole school.
>>223578034Not to mention a coalburner who Harry marries while he ends up working for the government which is just a sad, grim, bleak, depressing and demoralizing fate!!!FACT!!!

Lucius: Potter, I have been watching you carefully. You possess remarkable potential.Your ambition is even more impressive. I will teach you everything about our house. Our history, traditions, influence...And powerful magic that has been passed down through generations.Harry: You're serious?Lucius: Completely. I believe knowledge should be given to those capable of using it. And you, Potter, are clearly capable. But before we begin...Dracaena.Malfoid: What?Lucius: Please let go of Potter for five minutes.Malfoid: No.Lucius: Five minutes.Malfoid: No.Lucius: Three minutes?Malfoid: No.Lucius: One minute?Malfoid: Absolutely not.Lucius: Dracaena, you have been holding onto him since breakfast.Malfoid: He was cold.Lucius: We are standing next to a fireplace.Malfoid: That doesn't mean anything.Lucius: It means you have been using the fireplace as an excuse for six hours.Malfoid: I have not!Harry: She's been holding my arm this entire time.Malfoid: Because you keep trying to leave!Harry: I was going to the bathroom.Malfoid: You could have told me.Lucius: Potter, I am beginning to understand why you survived Hogwarts.Harry: How?Lucius: Pure confusion.Malfoid: Father, stop talking.Lucius: I haven't even started. Potter, if you join us, I can teach you spells that most wizards never know...Ancient magic, family wards, and perhaps a few secrets the Ministry would rather remain secrets.Harry: That sounds interesting.Malfoid: See? He's staying.Lucius: I was speaking to Potter.Malfoid: And I'm listening.Lucius: Of course you are. Now, Potter...Your first lesson begins tomorrow.Harry: All right.Lucius: Excellent. Dracaena, please let go of him now.Malfoid: No.Lucius: ...I give up.Harry: Can I at least get my arm back?Malfoid: No.Lucius: Welcome to the Malfoy family, Potter.Harry: I haven't joined your family.Lucius: Give it time.Malfoid: Father!Lucius: What? I am merely observing the situation.

I don't even like Harry Potter. I wasn't allowed to read it or watch the movies growing up because my mom thought it was satanic so I never got attached to the universe. I was ignoring this stuff until a few days ago but something kept drawing me to look more into it and now I can't get enough. I still don't know much about HP except for the random plot points people talk about and I doubt I would ever read or watch it still but I feel compelled to learn more at least tangentially. It's weird how intriguing this whole thing is.

My family has a book which records family members’s notable achievements since the 18th century; and husbands who marry in are included. Hence, the women in my family can and have asked the man they love:“Would you like me to write your name in my family’s book?”

>>223578838They're redditors. They derived a significant amount of their morality from Harry Potter directly. You can't romanticize the racist chud Death Eaters.
>>223578843You can bend the genders all you want, however it doesn't change the fact that this meme hails from one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.>a-at least the books were good though"No!"The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

>>223568152It did (see, the Mary Martin/Peter Pan casting of Draco in A Very Potter Musical) but the character was portrayed basically as a gay anime twink purely for comedy; unironically genderswapping Malfoy & playing it completely straight (lol) is politically & aesthetically transgressive (lol) in a way that wasnt even possible or socially comprehensible during the proto-woke Obama 1 years

>>223579254>It makes total sense he gets with a girl next door type and lives a normal, happy life. No, it makes total sense that he gets with a girl exactly like Malfoid: Harry would be the first person to not have expectations of her. His nature would give her an opportunity to relax, as he'd just treat her like a person instead of giving any weight to her arrogance. Malfoid is PRIMED for an arc of getting comfortable with winding down the cortisol instead of trying to narcissistically/transactionally keep score on everything.
