We can't give out no information. A toilet flushes somewhere. A door unlatches. Footsteps in back. Chigurh reacts to the noise. He looks at the woman. He turns and opens the door and leaves.Q: why didn't Chigurh just go to the store and come back with a cake and ask her again?
>>223571941Why didn’t the worthless boomer sheriff go ask her if she’d seen anyone suspicious? He would have gotten a full description to out out over the radio.
Imagine how many people were just killing people back then.No videos just like a witness thinking you looked like the guy. Then they put you away forever.
>>223571986Even to this day only about 60% of murders get solved and thats with all the technology we now have. I imagine in the 80s you could roll into town, kill a prostitute, leave and they would just pin the whole thing on the first negro they find

>>223571963>Oh sheriff, we just missed him! We gotta circulate this... on radio!>Oh Wendell, you young fool. We have nothing to go on. He's like a ghost.>All right sheriff, but maybe if we do some basic police work we could learn something. Let's go to the front office and ask aroun—>Don't bother, kid. He's in the windThe entire movie mocks the stupid goyim. This extends even to the sheriff, who refuses to do basic police work and explicitly says so at one point.
>>223571941The movie doesn’t have time to establish this, but in the book Chigurh recognizes her as an old foe from his past - a fellow assassin, hiding in plain sight. After a quick back and forth they decide to part ways with a kind of mutual respect, knowing any true confrontation between them would leave them both dead. It’s a cool little moment that fleshes out both characters
>>223572168>This extends even to the sheriff, who refuses to do basic police work and explicitly says so at one point.damn, ty anon ... never realized this massive plot hole before. I feel silly having missed it all these years.
>>223572602>recognizes her as an old foe from his pastwas it when she finished off the entire buffet at a Cici's Pizza and resulted in Chigurh not getting his fill of pizza?
>>223571963>ask her if she’d seen anyone suspicious?Well actually sheriff, yes their was this one giant wetback who came in here a few hours ago who asked me 3x where Moss worked. I didn't tell him anything despite him looking like he as about to kill me. His description? The Movie vs. The Book: If the witness saw the 2007 film adaptation, they would add that he has a bowl haircut (a Coen Brothers invention not in the book), wears a brown shirt and black jacket, and carries a captive bolt pistol (cattle gun) instead of a normal gun. In the novel, he has no such weird haircut, simply looking like a man with blue eyes and a medicinal, foreign cologne smell, making him blend in perfectly until he strikes.Without the Coen's adding his remarkable physical appearance imagine just how forgettable this film would have been.
what if this character had actually looked like this?
>>223572602I love how the movie stays true to the book on this, that in her prime she was an absolute stunner who would use her staggering beauty and sexuality to keep her targets off guard. That's why sugar doesn't acknowledge her because at first he doesn't recognise her and just as he realises who she is the toilet flushes so is forced to retreat.

>>223571986It's odd how they used that fact to dictate today's capital punishment even though today's cases are more clear cut than ever.

>>223572602I found the back history of the "accountant" to be more memorable. Especially the accountant killing that Kung fu master by poking out his eyes with a calculator. >"Do you see me"Kek
>>223571941The film should have had a solid 45 minute sequence where Chigurh has to go to increasing lengths to convince her to give out information. Start with the cake, but then he does some errands and chores for her, he asks her out to the fair, he takes ballroom dancing lessons with her, he helps her move her trailer to a new location, he teaches her kids how to play ball, etc. But then we cut back and see that Lou-Ellen has already escaped.
>>223572066Oldfag here. Can confirm. Also checked.
>>223571941The most powerful Coen Bros. character. Walter is the only one that comes close.
I'm not even 30 but I'm starting to feel like him more and more as time passes
