If you were at a sleepover in the 90s and the host put on Toy Story, that child would be relentlessly bullied for the remainder of his natural life. We watched Hackers, then The Fifth Element, then Hackers once more for good measure, because we were boys. Disney was for girls, gay little boys, and dying children. Also it wasn't bing bing wahoo, it was Twisted Metal 2, but if it had to be Nintendo, it was Bond.
Unfortunately the hot sauce aficionados hold the pen in 2026 so it all gets told as extremely gay.

Yeah, I really hate that about this stuff. The idea that I'd fetishize Doritos and Dominos and nostalgia over them because I happened to eat them on sleepovers is just offensive to me in the same way that "hey, Gamer, you love Doritoes and Mountain Dew" marketing is.

Like there are certain things that really do hit me with nostalgia on experiencing them, but this AI slop just disgusts me, I don't specifically reminisce over my own childhood in this way, focusing on the particular crap this does. There's something really pathetic about that as an adult who experienced and remembers this stuff.

About 5 years ago, i proclaimed that soon the technology will be there to use GAI to simulate an alternate reality space in real time via a headset.
To say, you map your room and you overlay an alternate version ontop of it. So that when you pull out your chair you physically interact but your shitty office chair looks like a comfy exec chair.
That when you pick up a logitech wired controller it will look like a snes controller.
That what we see in this video would in fact become a reality you can easily visit with the click of a button, entire room make-overs with this aesthetically, easily accessible, probably with a subscription.
The brain has this magical ability to rewire itself so that even though there may be small disconnections, in the example of the controller the sizes don't equate to one another - the brain will adapt.

The idea being, your lack of material goods doesn't matter if you spend >95% of your waking time not realizing your lack of material goods.

People said i was an idiot and the technology will never be that good.

I know it's a relatively short-sighted prediction in hindsight, considering people have been talking about this for >50 years, but i insisted it was legitimately around the corner, say within 10-15~ years. We're 5 years into that prediction.

I also predicted this will be the beginning of the end of "humans", that it will usher in due to the re-bound effect, an entire class of people that will take an extended break from technology. That these people will effectively break-away from modern society. That these people will be mostly White people. That together they will create small statelets and that their future generations will learn to use modern (to them) technology to make leaps and bounds in terms of scientific progress.

Anywho, thanks for reading my blog post.

I've never once heard anyone in the modern era mention that "You'll be able to live in your perfect idealized version of a 90's bedroom wherein your furniture is still mapped in the AR space and as you interact with it there is a GAI object replacing it" that these "spaces will adapt on-the-fly generations as you interact with them".

Sure, basic stuff like VR headsets, the premise of surrogates etc. But not actual AR with GAI generations in a living and moving space.

Feel free to provide examples from the modern day though. As i already conceded the idea is long in sci-fi.

The 90s was the last golden age of mankind. Technology was burgeoning and exciting but had not consumed everyday life. Media wasn't anti-white. The economy was booming. No major wars or conflicts. I would say that 9/11 was probably the milestone for when everything went wrong, only the effects weren't felt right away.

nah, in my friend group growing up we had a solo girl. We all grew up in the same apartment block and went to the same school, were the same age etc, just circumstances. When she got her first bf, he just became part of the group (until she dumped him to go to college). One guy in the group asked her out when we were 14 and it kinda muddied the dynamic for a few weeks, but other than that smooth sailing.

this happened in our group, parents would go get wasted and the girl who was only 2 years older (a seemingly insurmountable gap at 12yo) got put in charge. One time she taught us all to kiss, one by one. Looking back on it, kinda weird behavior and even at the time I thought 'This doesn't please me'. I still remember that Lavigne song skaterboi being on in the background and being happy I was getting kissed first since I didn't want an indirect kiss with the two other kids lol.

>>223582747
What is the current machinery pushing technological innovation in the consumer space? It is maximizing profit (accumulation of your time spent working) and minimizing quality (deliver "livable" at the minimum standard).

If the compute can deliver it cheap enough your very low living standard can become magically high-end. You might think your prefrontal cortex steps into the room and says "But this isn't real! None of it is!", to which i reply, look at people on their phones. People live in squalor while offloading their wants, attention and needs to phones. Adapt that to near-fully immersive GAI generations of AR and people will love it. You can probably turn down a lot of real world qualities and entire logistic-chain concerns when people have their headset, thus maximizing the total return on a macro scale.

Imagine people "working", their break-time, headset, they get home. Headset. They wake up, headset. You would have no incentive to take it off in the home if what was being streamed into your eyes is your near adapted level of quality. Meanwhile apartment spaces shrink, food becomes prepackaged slop, entire industries like whitegoods and their logistics-chains get dismantled, bug people in a bug hive. Meanwhile, the end-game of capitalism gets solidified.

A permanent rung of "elites", by means not merit, inherit the earth while resource acquisition, processing and delivering gets automated as does the bullshit jobs the ants get assigned in order to keep their gibs. Revolution becomes impossible when 99% of the earth is attached to their devices. Birth rates plummet in 3-4 generations but it matches the pace of automation.

It sounds hyper-schizo, but all the evidence of human nature as it interacts with technology at lower levels then i predict indicates to me that people just want calories + something to look at.

An AR headset with GAI generations that approximate OP's picreal is going to fucking destroy peoples minds.

kek I had one friend like this with an overbearing mother. When we 14 the week before summer vacation teachers used to just let kids do whatever since most left early for the holidays anyways, we'd set up one of the classrooms like an AV lounge and watched movies if we had a period free. I brought The Ring, the kid's mom called my mom the next day to give me a good scolding because he couldn't sleep for a few days after. He lived in a house where all the couches were covered in that weird plastic wrap so they don't get damaged.

Toy Story was very much a "once in cinemas" kind of movie unless you were a severe autist. I remember I went to my big brothers friends place with him and his friends younger brother was my age laying on his stomach, resting his head in his hands watching A Bug's Life and reciting all the dialogue word for word just before it was spoken. Shit was fucking creepy as fuck to me. Apparently it was the third time he had watched it that day. I guess I can't judge the guy too harshly, I was there with my GBC with the only games on me being Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow as if they're different games.

there's an age where this kind of behavior is almost normal, I babysat for extra cash all throughout high school and early college, every single kid with TV access does this for a short time somewhere between 6 and 9, one kid I watched in the late 00s would watch Cars every single day after pickup and quote the dialogue as you say.
Now in adults, yeah I've only known one guy that did this, would put on Interstellar every evening and fall asleep somewhere halfway through. Always thought it was a weird choice since so many of the scenes are really loud.

LLM has a lot of data trained on reddit. Your post seemed very well trained.

ah that's rough, anon. My parents weren't home most of the time so I got to do whatever as long as I came up with a good lie and kept my grades up to avoid attention, although that comes with it's own set of problems imo.

>>223582908
The lack of forethought is killing me. You don't think a machine learning algo can't train you to take out the trash or clean?
Consider that there are millions of comments on youtube's music section thanks algo's for brining them their new favorite song that they otherwise wouldn't have heard.

Consider that, something as deeply personal as music, something that stays with someone for a lifetime, algo's do a better job at giving people what they want then people do themselves.

You'll be gamified into maintaining yourself to death process.
>>
>>223582944
kek your brain must be absolute sludge if you think a simple anecdote needs an AI to generate it. Go play in traffic faggot.

When you felt the tension ooze off the walls and you just locked yourself in your room, while a shitstorm started in the afternoon. Sometimes you'd hear a vase or remote thrown against the wall. Fun times.
>>
>>223572669
Good advice!
>>
>>223582959
you do realize youtube is botted to hell and back? That the algos you seem to think are all-powerful are also doing some extreme cherry picking and rearranging so that only certain types of comments get to the top of the pile?
I agree with some of the points you've been making in this thread but you're putting out a lot of absolute bullshit as well and stating it as inevitable facts of the future. Still, bettter than most of the people ITT.

I just screwed my headset on tighter, years of fighting and yelling in the home have trained me to achieve an almost monk-like level of focus.

>>223576744

Is it the media and processed food that made it or the social interactions and stable family?
>>
>>223582979
Didn't have my own room plus I felt it's my duty to listen to what's going on, especially when either of my parents were pretending to be leaving and not coming back
>>
>>223582962
Your post styling seems to exhibit image-board cultural tendencies that are, as of today's date, on the decline. "kek", lower-case writing at the start of a sentence, "playing in traffic" etc. I think you should reanalyze your styling, focus on specifically adapting your writing to a more modern image-board culture style while weighting the aforementioned characteristics as less. Don't cope with applying a newfag status, that's cringe.

>>223582985
Be specific about what you think is bullshit, as per the botting problem, "omg i would have never found this if not for the algo" has to have a high weighting in relatability for it to have an organic success as a botting mechanism, botting wherein you just run a message and only your bots run that message is inefficient, you have to examine the data and choose messaging specifically as to carry an organic transmissbility. I think the number of people who've found content from algo's they'd otherwise never engage with is extremely high. A real life example is the millions of women watching those shitty netflix dubbed dramas from eastern europe or spain.

For me I developed lvl 100 sneak. I'm always told I never make a sound when I walk or even close the door.
>>
>>223583032
anon, you seem to be living in a delusion of your own making, I'll leave you to it as it brings me no pleasure to argue over whether my childhood story of a friend being scared of a movie is real or not. I don't interact with AI often enough to know if this kind of constant suspicion is warranted or not but surely even you can see how futile any conversation we have about this would be when neither of us can prove the other is wrong. It's just as tiresome as people accusing each other of larping or samefagging. The sad reality is that I'm just a 33 yo who has not adapted his way of posting to stick with the times and is not interested in this kind of feedback even if he were. You might as well have posted some empty shit like 'ynbaw' or 'fucking nigger' for the contribution it brought to the thread.
This it the final (You) I will be giving out.

I went the opposite route and would just walk through the chaos like it didn't concern me, ignore the bullshit until you can leave it forever.

At a sleepover at a friends place, all our friends are staying over the night, comfy on the couches/floor in sleeping bags etc. Watching lots of movies, we finish watching ace ventura pet detective and I look around and realize that I was the last one awake and that everyone else fell asleep ages ago while I thought I was still watching a movie with friends. That's a really odd feeling, it was sort of eerie and really stuck with me. Same thing happened when I was on the top bunk playing pokemon gold while my big bro was playing silver on the bottom bunk. I was talking to him for a while and he stopped responding while I kept talking. I was an annoying younger brother so he used to just ignore me without replying so I was used to it. Peer over the edge of the bed when I heard him snoring. Was talking to myself for ages.

It's getting sadder now that zoomers are entering their 30s and they still have no culture of their own so they think other people are faking their own childhood memories. You'll never have any idea how good we had it.
>>
>>223573276
not until high school when we finally had girls join our group
the ones with divorced parents would just go like "i'm staying out mom see ya" and the ones with overbearing parents would be like "well becky's here and you know she has no dad so i can't let her stay alone with just boys"
they were cool and one of them was my first run to second base while everybody else was asleep
was gonna say "i hope she's ok" but she just got married and had a kid which is what she wanted most in life so god bless her

DVDs have been a thing since 1996 and have been available in the states since 97. My family got there's in 1998.

It's funny how a few years ago, the criticism was that AI would never be able to generate video, and now the criticism is "the AI video didn't perfectly recreate the start menu of the video game"

>DVDs have been a thing since 1996 and have been available in the states since 97

Not growing up poor in the 1990s is funny because all these nostalgia videos are full of decades old junk that looks like the 1970s

We had flat screen tvs, T1 internet, touch screen pdas and dvds before the year 2000

Good for you. I had to wait until they did those dvd player/ multi dvd pack bundles. I was still taping movies off the TV until 2004
>>
>>223582642
Agreed. But also, we do get the 90s as an example of how things should be done, but people ignore that. Its like how the renaissance masters studied the classical world, knowing that it was a civilization far superior to their own.

I think I had one sleepover where we watched a movie, and it was just because Commando happened to be on TV. The rest of them were just gaming.

Nothing can top Extreme G, Goldeneye, and StarFox. Those were my go-to unless it was a big party then everybody just played smash and Mario kart,

I asked chat gpt what a super intelligent AI that would rulse the world based on avoiding the pitfalls of the Twilight Zone would do. And chat gpt warned me of megalomania, WMDs, neighbor distrust and at the end.... Being trapped in a world of your own Nostalgia. Total forgot about that last one but now I know what Rod Serling was trying to say
>>
The 90s were depressing for me. The only music I had were those pop magazine comp CDs. I had a ps1 with only a few games I couldnt finish. I'd watch any old shit on TV. All I remember is long periods of silence
>>
>>223581511
That sounds retarded. Your chair might look comfy, but the hard wooden seat your ass touches will instantly break the illusion.

Now, people leaving reality entirely to live in virtual worlds? That I can buy. Retards chained up to an IV in their beds pretending to be in Skyrim, that kind of thing will be all the rage. The thing people don't understand is that it won't be like the matrix at all, people will live in completely closed off bubbles and only talk to actual NPCs.
>>
>>223584564
I am sad you were a retarded brainlet.

My 90s experience

>Block parties
>Playing in the fire hydrant during the summer
>Watching Nickelodeon
>Collecting pogs
>Sharing zelda and super mario secrets at the lunch table
>Teasing each other over everyone's lunchbox

And never once did I collect or listen to a retarded CD or casset
>>
>>223584601
what's retarded about CDs or cassettes
my family owned a ton of both
>>
>>223584271
VHS was still way more dominant than DVDs in the '90s. It wasn't until the early '00s that they started to take over VHS. Just because something was available doesn't make it commonplace and your anecdotal account doesn't change it.
iPhones were released in 2007, but that doesn't mean they were everywhere like they are now.

I remember getting this and feeling like a king. My dad had it at work and wanted it at home too.

The guy who genned this never grew up in the west, let alone was alive in 1998.
