What would the age of orcs look like in Middle Earth?

I always got the impression that the dark lords didn’t particularly like their orc legions, just used them as cheap weapons against the elves, good men, and dwarves out of expedience. He admired Elves and Tolkien wrote that he was always super butthurt that he never got them to serve him willingly without disguising himself. He didn't like men as much but since they needed little persuasion to serve him they were his favored servants. He had Dwarves in his service too.
