Did anyone ever actually have a school assignment where they had to take care of an egg for a week? How many tropes were just bullshit

>>223575491Yes. It was a real part of my home-ec class and it was really shit. We carried it between classes and when we got home just set them in fridge and forgot about them. More people lost points for bringing it in late than breaking the egg. By the time I graduated they stopped using eggs and invested in some baby dolls that cry every couple of hours and you gotta watch them. Glad I never dealt with that.

I feel like most of the stories were just short sighted Californian focused, like that scooter episode.
We had to take care of a styrofoam ball because we were reading Steinbeck's The Pearl.

It was plastic babe for me I have no partner cuz no one wanted to be with me :(
>>223576644South Park is literally the show creators writing about their small town Colorado childhoods.
We had to take home a robot baby in 8th grade. It had cards representing things you try in response to a crying baby that you scanned. Also if you dropped the baby an abuse light came on that you couldn't turn off, lol
We had to take home the class guinea pig. An actual animal. It was only a weekend though for every kid. I'm not even sure if it was part of a lesson.
unc here. east coast suburbanite. my school did the egg baby thing (I think it was home ec) and also in biology class you could take home a baby duckling and take care of it for a week (my brother did it). I thought it sounded like a pain in the ass so I took the option of writing an essay instead
>>223577763yeah this is what we had to do as well
