What didn’t you like about it?
I think it earns its spot in the pantheon of greatest noir movies, maybe not in the top tier alongside Double Indemnity, Third Man, and Sunset Boulevard, but it’s definitely on the same list, just a bit further back.

True. Now we can make this thread about how great Out of the Past really is. Great casting. Solid adaptation of a pulp novel source. Tourneur's use of shadow and lowly-lit sets are top notch. I used to think the little coda at the end wasn't necessary but as I got older with repeat viewings, the follow up with the mute kid is essential to the story.
