I had a regular Discord movie night with some friends that started about two weeks ago. All was well, I recommended Magnolia (1999), and people really liked it. Then I recommended Oldboy (2003), and people loved it. I discussed with the other main person which movies to watch next, suggesting The Raid: Redemption and maybe The Thing. The problem is the third person, who goes along with everything, is going with the movie recommendations by someone who's actively talking to them. They watched fucking slop Dale & Tucker vs Evil two nights ago, and I refused to watch it. It was like a betrayal. Now tonight, again no Raid: Redemption (which everyone would love) but instead it's "Black Sheep (2006)," some literal slop movie about killer sheep. I've never seen this movie or the Dale movie, and I never will. It's pissing me off that movie night literally has been usurped by someone who doesn't even like kinema but just watches movies that he "likes." How do I convince the others to get back on path?

? I am grown up. I'm 37 years old. I'm the one who wants to watch adult, good movies, not immature shit-tier slop.

There is a time and a place for "fun movies," first of all. Second of all, there are far better "fun movies" that are objectively better to play than some stupid trailerpark whitetrash monster flick. The Matrix, for example, is a fun movie that's many layers deeper and more interesting.
