not sure if this goes against /tv/ rules, but this is a vent concerning fanfiction and queer shipping in general.

for anyone out of the loop, recently, depictions of female!draco malfoy as an anime character have become popular across twitter, reddit etc. the character has been dubbed "malfoid". and as a result, "harry x malfoid" is becoming a popular ship

it feels like for years, female/queer fans of mlm ships have been looked down on in wider fandom spaces. when it comes to mlm drarry, sasunaru, lawlight, bakudeku etc etc, we're weirdos who are seeing romance where there is none, because "why can't men just be friends?". we're needlessly sexualising and fetishising gay men. we're toxic for liking enemies to lovers stories. we're ruining all the fandom spaces with our perverted imaginations.

but now, when you get to genderbend the characters, hentai-ify their design, and call them "foids"? suddenly, all the straight men get it! the enemies to lovers! the romantic tension! the drama! it's peak! people are churning out fanart by the dozens! they're even recommending each other ao3 fics!

i do like me some drarry, genderbent or not. im enjoying some of the female!draco x harry fanart coming out of this. but i simultaneously cannot help but feel grossed out by the situation. idk if im being too woke of whatever, so i wanted to hear some other opinions
