The resolution for the mystery aspect was a bit of a letdown, particularly with that oh so super convenient Hal plopping down to die(seems like some last minute changes going by Hal's living situation not making sense with the timeline from revival to death), but as a character piece I did like how it rounds out as Jon's origin story and him coming to terms with both Hal and his own upbringing. Annoyed we didn't get to see a real showcase of the lantern powers and bemused that it ended up with another young nigga saying he gonna be doing his own thing but overall it's a worthwhile watch. The oath was nice too, very evocative of a knight swearing to a virtue.

Honestly, I liked it. I didn't feel like it was a drag to watch. It kept the mystery going until the end. It is smaller scale, yes, but I think that made it really comfy. Yes, it underused and otherwise wasted some of the named characters for some contrived reasons but what can you do.

If they wanted to make John an independent lantern with his own oath, and they already established Hal was the first Green Lantern, then they should have given him Alan Scott’s oath. The one he came up with is terrible. Scott’s isn’t great either but it least it has a legacy behind it.
