the poster is already off-putting. it looks like a pretentious wes anderson poster with a message buried under so many layers of nuance and satire that by the time you dig it up you dont give a fuck anymore
>>
Jesse and Plemons is in this movie? I actually didn't know the kino guy was in it
>>
>>223584367
The movie looks like a pretentious Wes Anderson movie, so the poster fits the flick, 10/10
>>
>>223584390
>the poster fits the flick
agreed, but that isnt a good thing
>>
>>223584305
It's a kino poster ngl
Movie is less than impressive tho

Looks like a prequel to “Holes”, but I know it’s not, so pass.
>>
>>223584305
It makes sense given the twist, but the entire marketing department had to hide the twist as much as possible. Still a shit movie.
>>
>DUDE, something something about oil in Antarctica and stuff.
Nobody cares.
>>
>>223584305
>digg
>movie looks completely reddit
wtf was the goal of this film, there is nothing on this poster that would make me go "yeah I'll pay money for a ticket to this"
>>
>>223584305
tom cruise is ugly
>>
>>223584305
Tom Cruise probably looks like that without botox and hair plugs, right?
>>
>>223584959
It's trying to be a 21st century dr Strangelove.

I laughed at the nuclear football scene
>>
>>223584305
This was a better version of Asteroid City but still kinda gay. Would rather watch Tom Cruise jump between helicopters and shit. Inarrtu is just one step removed from Del Toro and theater kid shit
>>
>>223584959
it's better than reddit eddington tho
digger has tons of 4chan vibe

To me
Because it was Tom Cruise
And it was giga kino

Naw. It's top 5 greatest movies of the last 20 years. Up there with Bladerunner 2049 and Everything Everywhere all at Once

Is that the Iranian-American vegan Nasim Naghdam who shot up Youtube headquarters in April 2018 and injured 3 random employees because they demonetized her videos?

She was based, she literally tried to kill Big Tech employees as revenge for the jannies censoring her.

Even if you think BR2049 is irredeemable diarrhea garbage, it has the literal only iconic shot of the entire millennia. You have to go back to The Matrix to find something that tops it

ALL FUCKING DIGGERS MUST FUCKING HANG
>>
I think Alexandro Inarirrurru basically wanted to make a Glormph movie, realized what a behind-the-times faggot he was and added the meta shit as a pre-emptive response to that very criticism.

Also I skipped through the boring parts (80%) and didnt miss a thing and can talk about it at length
>>
>>223584305
Classic pose by needy bottoms. Don't judge just cos Cruise isn't a beautiful <27yo twink anymore.

the movie isn't actually about tom cruise playing a whacky old oil tycoon man wielding a shovel to save the world from a big iceberg
he's an actor in a play that is humorously recounting the events that already happened in that world, it takes place in the post-apocalypse
>>
>>223586324
I watched the movie with 0 information. It was one of the best movies I have seen for a long time in cinema.

what, among films currently in theaters, is close to Nigger than Digger, would you say?
>>
>>223587780
i've seen so much propaganda and know when to spot it even when /pol/ can't that it doesnt make me angry knowing people are being brainwashed by this low level agenda. it was a fun movie, at a certain point you could even easily relate his oil wealth and power to a particular religious group that shall not be named.

will that be before or after the star wars sequels are finally accepted as masterpieces?
>>
>>223584305
The premise of this movie relies on misdirecting general audiences who think they've gone to watch something conventional before pulling the rug from under them. The problem is people have no fucking idea what this is even pretending to be about. I really wish Inarritu had pulled this off better because I like a lot of things about it.

>>223586324
No it's quite good and you should see it.

>>223588508
not one person who has said this has ever backed it up by saying something about the movie that's good. it's literally 100% just lies

Megalopolis, the movie Digger desperately wishes it lived up to
>>
>>223588576
the odyssey
>>
>>223588614
Thematically, more like Eddington. Structurally, more like Megalopolis. It operates at a sufficient layer of abstraction to be a farce about institutional Atlanticist liberalism in 2026 and beyond.
>>
>>223588523
digger has basically no action of any kind. since the majority of the runtime takes place within the fictional play its almost entirely actors going back and forth with each other. this sort of thing is not for everyone but i enjoyed seeing the cast, which is strong all around, perform in this manner. i also liked the set designs and depth of the frames, everything was deliberately designed and there was a lot of background detail, something absent in most modern films. i enjoyed the story as well, both the fictional play (this is imo the weakest aspect of the movie because a lot of the comedy didnt land) and how the play fits into the larger story of the movie with secondary layer of the people putting on the show. i felt the characters in the secondary layer were interesting to examine from a morality point of view, as their actions can be read in a way where it explains the state of their society, both the dystopian one at the very end of the movie and the one in their past that the play adapts. those questions especially stuck with me even a day after having seen it. i dont think its perfect but i thought it was very interesting, worth seeing on the big screen and i could see it aging well.
>>
It’s fun to say digger.
