Happy October! I really liked Del Toro's Frankenstein. Making the monster sympathetic is nothing new however the themes of fatherhood and creating life I think elevated the story. Also supreme photography and gore, though the costumes were a bit over-designed as is usual for Netflix.

don’t care about frankenstein and del toro lost the plot years ago. watch the relic for a fun 90s monster movie.

Del toro has to be one of the most overrated directors ever. I dont think hes ever made anything better than "good". Nothing great enough to justify everyone knowing his name.

Sure, at least he commits to the monster movie niche and I appreciate that. I will check out The Relic haven't seen it.

Del toro sucks. Monster movies are passe, and that is one of the worst ones ever created. It’s normieslop.

Pan's Labyrinth is a master piece and I'll die on that hill, but nothing else I've seen from him has been any good at all.
Crimson Peak was criminally shit, despite really nice visuals.
