Disney Star Wars movies should be studied in film schools as examples of how NOT to make movies

>But who would teach a class about destroying things out of pure spite? >He's already in your office with a lesson plan, sir.
Daisy pretty.
daisy board
do they teach things like that in film school? who are some successful movie makers that went to film school?

>tfw I will never have an on again-off again friendship and deeply sexual affair with Daisy Ridley which we hide from our respective spouses so much that Daisy and her husband raise my bastard son.Why live?
>>223584783The only thing this fucker ruined was Mike's idea of "ideal" nu-OT. And it's a damn good thing he did it.
>>223584708why is she so quirky epic chungus, bros?
>>223584708At the very beginning I didn't understand why they chose her. I also didn't understand the black guy or adam driver. I just thought that maybe they knew something I didn't. But no. Although driver was...fine, it doesn't mean that it fully worked. bb8 worked but not if you're going to shove r2d2 and the other one in during the later movies.
>>223585508Nothing of what he made had anything to do with that.
>>223584708Film schools won't exist in 5 years.
>>223585564I explained it yesterday. Also TLJ was the only sequel with something original to show (horrible and lore wrecking, but still)
>>223584708Hot actresses making dopey faces is extremely hot, and should be studied by PR agencies.
>>223585581Just go to films.
>>223584708There's no point. Studios will greenlit shit and investors will approve of what they believe will maximize profit.
>>223584708>haha nooo daisy! don't vore me! haha nooooooooo! aaaaaaaaaaaaa!
>>223584862Based. This pic of Daisy needs a PB style cum edit.
>>223584708>I don’t buy the Mary Sue thing anyway. I find the term sexist in itself because it’s, ‘Mary Sue’. I don’t think there’s a thing called ‘Ryan Craig’>Ridley brought up how "everyone was saying that Luke had the exact same [capabilities]," and she also took issue with the entire notion of a Mary Sue, noting that it's an inherently gendered objection: "The Mary Sue thing in itself is sexist because it’s the name of a woman
>>223584708...no one would finish that course.
>>223584708desu the only Star Wars news, posts, or info I'm interested in hearing anymore is news of a retcon to all the Disney Star Wars movies. If its not about how Disney is about to retcon the Sequel movies or sell them to someone who will (yes, Andor and Mandalorian too) then I really don't care and don't want to see it.
>>223587048>I don’t think there’s a thing called ‘Ryan Craig’There isn't, it's actually called 'Gary Sure'.
>>223587048Luke was a whiny bitch in the first movie. He didn’t get into light saber fight with Vader and win. Even a slightly more trained Luke in TOTJ got his ass kicked by Vader and lost his hand. He only barley won against Vader in the third because he sperged out but then almost got killed by The Emperor
>>223585537They chose her because she has that plain look that insecure Karens in studios appreciate, but still looks semi appealing when needed (ie never in the actual movie). Zendaya is the same.
>>223589016Women only see men at their best, at the finish line. They wait at the finish line to fuck the winners. It's in their DNA. So of course, they will write self inserts as having everything thr man eventually obtained and the whole "training" and "heroes journey" is alien to them.
>>223587048Why's she got Hitler's haircut though?
>>223587048She's pretty dumb, huh?
Big twenty two six and you guys are still doing mary sue discourse and whining about being called sexist over photos selected to make a beautiful woman look ugly.
>>223584708This, but the prequels.
>>223584708In reality they will be used as textbook examples of how to successfully subvert a male entertainment franchise while training the next generation of feminist culture warriors
>>223587048>Daisy doesn't know that Gary Stu is the male equivalent of Mary SueDaisy shouldn't pretend to be smart if she has no idea what she's talking about. Allowing women to have opinions was a mistake.

>>223584708You don't know anything about film as an art. You're a retard that gobbles up corporate franchise trash and begs for more who uses idiot baby talk like "muh keeno" because you lack the vocabulary or emotional intelligence to articulate a thought in a way white adult males would bother listening to.
>>223584708They were under 16 you sick fuck
>>223584708can't wait for the daisy second trilogy. we need more women jedi who defeat everyone with little to no training
Fuck me Tony!
>>223585599It's all completely pointless because every one of those original ideas or concepts it shows get undone by the end of the movie itself. Nothing comes from Snoke being anticlimactically killed halfway through the movie, nothing comes from the constant hints of Rey turning to the dark side or even joining Kylo as a "gray Jedi" or whatever, nothing comes from Luke tossing his lightsaber away and renouncing the Force, nothing comes from Casino Planet, nothing comes from the shitty not-Hoth battle other than the Resistance being all but wiped out.And since every other original concept has already been disregarded and returned to the status quo by that point in the movie, there's no way for the next movie to go forward other than going>uh yeah that didn't actually happen, there's still a resistance actually lolbecause otherwise what the fuck is even going to happen in it? The bad guys have won and the good guys are all dead or useless. Bravo, Johnson.
>>223592694It does matter. Than you for your honesty.
>>223585537All you have to understand from Disney's NuEU is:>"we didn't have any comics, novels or videogames to build off of">mfw literal decades of comics, novels and videogames that were considered canon by LucasArts and Lucas himself>mfw Disney stole every story idea from the old idea but changed it "just enough" to avoid lawsuits

>>223589016This. Luke had an actual character arch with growthA New Hope>whiny farm kid who's good at flying a glorified cropduster>gets carried by a veteran smuggler, Jedi Master, droids who survived the Clone Wars, a centuries old space yeti, and a princess born and raised with a rebel/guerilla warfare mindsetEmpire Strikes Back>gets wrecked by a wild animal>rescued by said veteran smuggler>comes up with a strategy to delay Imperials enough to save Rebel High Command during Battle of Hoth>gets fucking wrecked and maimed when he challenges deuteragonist 1v1Return of the Jedi>still has his whiny farmboy characteristics despite finally being veteran smuggler's savior>both his mentors still say "bro, you're not ready. just chill">still moralistically and metaphysically gets wrecked by the deuteragonist in a 1v1>has to realize his mistakes and accept his destiny in the face of certain death>said sacrifice brings deuteragonist to redemption>father and son save the galaxy>not through one's singular struggle>but through a combined effort and ideological belief that "Good > Evil">Luke is still not a Jedi Master at the end of RotJ, barely even Jedi Knight tierMeanwhile, Sequel Trilogy>Rey is good at everything and overcomes everything with little to no character development because she's always right. Morally and tacticallyThere's no nuance. None at all. And the reveal that Rey's a Palpatine is an even bigger loogie in the face of actual Star Wars fans. There's no buildup. No pay off. No struggle for Rey to reach these highs. She's "just that gud" and we're just supposed to accept it Been drinking and I don't know how to tie up this post. But anyone who has been a Star Wars fan since at least the Prequels knows how fucked Disney's handling of the franchise has been >have a full and rich EU to enjoy>decades and decades or stories to explore>an entire galaxy to explore based on said decades or stories>Disney Buyout>"Lmao, everything is non-canon"
>>223591547>t. Gen X or butthurt BoomerThe PT was the greatest thing to happen to Star Wars EU since Shadows of the Empire. And since STAR WARS has become such a convoluted mess of different corpo canon nonsense. Remember when Dall-E 3 came out and anons were going crazy generating pictures of Rey because it seemed like such a random windfall, a bizarre stroke of luck that they came out so well, ie that it knew what Rey looked like? Star Wars was so dead already that the current main character of its franchise seemed like an obscure subject to have trained on lmao
>>223598494I miss the brief Dall-E era of 2023 and just going ham on Dall-E AI-generated images. That was back when AI was wonky enough and surreal enough to still have soul.

>>223584708Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon should be the first, that was atrocious. The worst part about the sql3logy was the completely lack of cooperation between Johnson and Abrams. Second worst part was everything else about TROS.
>>223585599Disney Star Wars fans will never stop drinking the green milk.
>>223585599TLJ defenders still absolutely delusional I see, even 10 years after the dust has settled. This is like praising a boat for having pretty furniture while failing to notice the hull is completely nonfunctional and you're going to sink and die of drowning in about 10 minutes. Novelty and creative ideas are what you do AFTER you have fulfilled your basic narrative obligations. 1. Obligation to tell a good story for this movie2. Obligation to fulfill your role as the middle entry in a 3-part trilogy3. Obligation to reasonable continuity with the existing lore (the OT)TLJ completely failed all three, as well as the unfortunate extra burden to fix the foundation that was left unfinished by JJ (not the mystery boxes, but the undeveloped characters, stakes and world-building). Nothing after that matters. Telling a story about a despondent Luke and Luke's arc and social commentary on capitalism so on and so forth only matters if you have delivered the fundamentals first. TLJ failed to do that and so any attempt to praise the other bullshit just marks you as a pretentious pseud who doesn't really understand movies.
>>223584708I fucking hate you for making this thread with that thumbnail. That stupid fucking face mocks me everytime I scroll through if I could get my hands on you I’d gouge your eyes out for inflicting that face on me
>>223602877>The worst part about the sql3logy was the completely lack of cooperation between Johnson and AbramsSort of, but really the problems went way deeper than this. Neither of them even made movies that made sense to BE part of a trilogy.A Lucasfilm production team with a minimum level of competence, that knew they were making an epic 3-part story, would not have made the massive pile of glaring mistakes that JJ and Rian made. They didn't need much of a plan, they didn't need much coordination, they just needed to apply basic storytelling principles and the slightest bit of restraint to allow those principles to take priority over their scene to scene need for cinematic masturbation.JJ made a disney theme park ride of a movie. Rey and Kylo aren't even real characters, Han is barely coherent and Finn is severely undeveloped. The political situation is hopelessly vague and the stakes are poorly defined. Rian not only failed to fix these foundational problems, but basically went and made a bunch of them them unfixable, forcing anyone coming along after to start from scratch. All it took was someone like Kathleen Kennedy to tell those bozos that they needed to have some basic fucking character development, a coherent central conflict and some world-building. Neither JJ or Rian even TRIED to do those things.
