still waiting for good adaptation

Nothing wrong with '79 son.

Not OP but I didn't really find it particularly good. Having a few interesting and memorable scenes does not make a movie great on its own.
I wouldn't even say it's really good as far as movies based on King's books go. The Night Flier is a much better vampire one.

The Night Flier could make an absolutely kino movie. Hopefully they would change the ending to make it more interesting.

I guess you had to be there. It was originally a tv miniseries and got recut and released in theaters. Maybe I'm biased because I love Tobe Hooper.

What do you mean "could"? They made one and I liked it.

Yeah it might be it, I definitely watched it quite late in life. I get what made it popular, the floaty vampire scene really is fantastic and in broad strokes the plot is pretty cool, just didn't really live up to the hype I had built up.
I watched the remake too. Very ridiculous movie, kinda like most horrors nowadays - a few good ideas but overall a goofy mess.

Just took a random screenshot from the youtube upload of the movie. Love it when movies have color. Wish we could go back to that en masse.

I miss Miguel Ferrer.

no need
this type of horror is only scary when you read it and imagine the whole thing in your head, watching it on a screen is mid at best

Only if it includes the based subplot about the slutty high school girl who walks around without a bra flaunting her pokies all over town. All the male characters perv over her and the deformed weirdo who runs the town dump gets her as his hot vampire bride as a reward for willingly submitting to Barlow.

Pitch an ending?

The miniseries was kino, the only thing that they fumbled was making the main vampire guy into a generic Nosferatu vampire rather than being more faithful to the book. And I am a zoomer, so you can't claim it's just boomer senility that makes me think so.

2004 has it, and is underrated in general.

>>223586063
I think this at least once a week.

I like that change personally, Barlow and Straker feel kind of redundant in the book

The 79 and rob lowe one are genuinely spooky and fun
