Why did the show try to make you feel bad for a degenerate gambler?
>>
It doesn't. Not really.
>>
There are many cases where people indulge in compulsive behaviors that cause harm to their loved ones and themselves, and while they recognize the harm, they struggle to stop themselves because the behavior is compulsive. If you look at your own life, you may discover some examples of your own behavior that fits this description and thereby be able to empathize with others who experience the same thing but to much worse, more detrimental degree.

Did it? I thought the show accurately represented that people him like him will always ruin their own lives, of their own volition, even if the people that stands to benefit from them doing so try to step in and warn them off, to please not go down that road.
Tony himself gives like 3 separate warnings, telling him not to ruin his life and his family's finances, but being the pragmatist Tony is, he realizes if this guy isn't going to heed the warnings, then Tony might as well be the one to come out ahead instead of someone else. Because you can't make someone change if they aren't willing to change, and this degenerate gambler wasn't willing to deal with his own compulsion.

the most hilarious part about his character is that after tony died he could live in new jersey cause who's gonna care about him? Patsy?

>feel bad
Only easily manipulated people feel bad for Davy. He got everything he deserved. He even managed to pawn off his kids education to his brother in law

At that point, Davy was free of any other obligations since they busted him out. Of course, he was already plotting to work on a ranch that had a good flight into Vegas so he learned absolutely nothing and is probably running from loan sharks there

It was more that tony actively blocked him multiple times and then he snuck around tony and by the time tony realized it he was six figures in the hole and still going.

He ended up in a mental institution
