What do we think of the very first Futurama comeback aka the four movies?
I remember 1 feeling like classic Futurama and being terrific
I remember 2 being basically where Gilligan ripped Pluribus from but way better, though unfortunately degenerate in its polyamory
I remember 3 being really kind of dull and drawn out, something to do with Mom and Farnsworth
I remember 4 being unwatchable RPG redditor nonsense.
So it started strong in its 2008 return, but kind of dwindled by its two 2009 finale.

Felt like an entirely different show, but it doesnt make the good stuff any less good.

Like revival Family Guy. Or Al Jean/Disney era Simpsons.

>I remember 1 feeling like classic Futurama and being terrific
It's a sort of clever imitation of classic Futurama, but it isn't classic Futurama.

All the good writers migrated to American Dad after Fox cancelled it the first time. Never recovered after that.

>the very first Futurama comeback
Don't call it a comeback. Because almost nobody cared. The first film was just barely okay.

>>223585956
I enjoy them.

The worst part is the woman voiced by a man. The voice is so grating and makes it hard to get through the movie. I hate that it's becoming a trend. Dr Mrs The Monarch is the only time it has ever worked and that's because they didn't try to do a tranny voice.

Didnt Yevo technically rape millions of children

It tried really hard to be Futurama, that's the problem
Much like how the last new season of Samurai jack tried really hard to be Samurai jack
That's not a good thing, but that's certainly better than going downhill
>Writing the show as is
>Writing the show after it's over, trying to "recreate" the first show
>Writing the show after it's over, but flanderized with cast change/character changes
>Writing the show after it's over, but with wackier plots and over the top stupidity

They wrapped up Fry's time travel being a major show plot point at least

What woman? The beast with the tentacles? That was David Cross, who isn't a man

The waterfall hippie in the 4th movie.

They ruined Bender by making him a catchphrase. "ME, BENDER."
He says it like once in the global warming episode and the new writers decided, "hey, let's just make him say that ALL THE TIME." DiMaggio used to voice him so soulfully but ironically Bender feels more like a robot from our time than from the far future.
There is that one episode in season seven, where they can't enhance an image which is hilarious because it's supposed to be 3010 and somehow they don't have upscale technology
>>
>>223586497
DiMaggio just kind of sucks all around.
>>
>>223586369
Samurai Jack at least had a single creative voice at the helm throughout.

Losing Mako really sucked though. He was like half the show.
>>
>>223586485
That was kind of the joke that the entire family of Waterfalls were all voiced by the same actor.

I felt the shift in the second film and feel exactly the way you do OP. The fourth film is nonsensical gibberish. My assumption was always that Groening and Cohen used the movies to pass the writing off to a new team, and then Comedy Central shoved their hands into the writing room and we got shit like the susan boil episode. I love Bender's Big Score and 2/3 are passable but it honestly wasn't worth getting those movies when the trad off is everything else after it.
surprised there was never more porn of Colleen

I liked Bender's big score and beast with a thousand backs.
Bender's game completely loses its whole premise.
Honestly the biggest problem with the "Movies" is that they're written and directed like four episodes stitched together so they could break them up and serialize them as part of a "new season."
>>
>>223585956
I like all of them but the into the wild green yonder one is definitely the weakest.

I don't care. The tranny voice is still very harsh on the ears. If they wanted to run with that joke they should have just given her a deep masculine voice like Dr Mrs The Monarch.
>>
>>223587187
Name one time he did anything but his own regular voice.

>if they wanted to run the joke they should have ignored it
you're a real dumb asshole

The show ain't for you if you hold this view. I'll never be poly myself, I believe in exclusivity, but calling other people degenerate for things you're not involved in is retarded.
>>
>>223585956
I always thought they were shit and didn't feel like what was before.
>>
>>223587704
The fuck are you talking about? The same dude could have just done a different voice for the character.
>>
>>223587923
You must be the modern audience the reboots were aimed at, because no one would say that about the original show.
>>
>>223585956
Benders Big Score --- Not terrible

Beast with Billion Backs --- Terrible

Benders Game --- It's... two plots sewn together. Each could have been entertaining on their own. It's a bit distracting to see them attached to each other.

Wilf Green Yonder --- Pretty good.
>>
I mean, it wasn't a consistently great show to begin with. Some very high-tier comedy in there for sure, but the series drags a bit even at its peak.
>>
>>223588539
I always appreciate that Futurama doesn't play it safe. The don't middle around and make mediocre episodes that avoid bothering anyone. Either they hit it out of the park, or they miss completely.
>>
>>223588581
What do you call seasons 6 through 15?

First one was good, the other 3 were mid
