>is that... a cushy 9-5 that takes care of my needs?!?
>AAEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII I'M LITERALLY GOING INSANNEEEEE
What the fuck was GenX & Boomer's problem?
>>
>>223586655
>takes care of my needs
Interesting how you put it that way. I guess that explains the divide. Back in the 90s the ideal was to have a family and kids. These days people are happy just living in an apartment by themselves and ordering uber eats, so the lives these guys had seems like paradise.
>>
Boomers and genX seem to hate their life outside work way more. Especially boomers loathe being at home, and just like to go around offices finding someone to talk to. Which is why they hate WFH so much.

Not that they would ever admit it. Always going "work amirite hahah" when they avoid spending time with their families as much as they can.
>>
>>223586655
I think it was a psyop to hate the cubicle. I had a cubicle job and it was comfy. You can even take a nap if you know the supervisor is not around. Now compare this today where almost every office is open space where you hear endless talking with no way to concentrate unless you are listening to music with earphones.
>>
>>223586655
Agent smith literally explains it in the film ....

>Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from.
>>
>we're just 20 years away from every last worthless stinking boomer parasite going extinct
its a rough wait but man will it be worth it
>>
>>223586655
back in the 90s 9-5 office job was seen as soul crushing and now people dream to have something like that. what a bleak generation
but it's not your fault
>>
>>223586655
That’s not what Fight Club is about, dumb poojeet.
>>
>>223586788
I'll never understand how much WFH makes boomers seethe. My boss couldn't WAIT to drag us back to the office after the coof went away. Meanwhile we were all comfy and enjoying working remotely and got more work done.
>>
>>223587108
Threatens un needed middle management, and also they just like to suck rich guy cock and they need their heckin offices rented to make money
>>
>>223586655
feeling content is a bad thing for the continuation of the species. a successful society will always find a way to channel that into progress.
>>
>>223587108
Same reason they're so obsessed with real estate.
Their grandparents got GAPED on the stock market so hard it made them want to return to feudalism.
It too until the 2010s for common people to get over the deeply embedded Black Tuesday trauma and stop framing wealth in terms of larping as royalty.
>>
>>223586829
Back in the 90s all there was to do was work and talk to the other employees. Now everyone has phones and they want a “job” where they can just stare at them in “private.”

Also both OP examples were soul crushing for different reasons. Fight club was the intractable insomnia and forced isolation/feminization, the matrix because he was trapped in a world he knew wasn’t real and it was driving him insane.
>>
>>223587108
yeah it’s a total mystery why someone with a tiny shred of power would hate having it taken away and want it back asap
>>
>>223586655
Edward Norton needed masculinity, a social life, and to sleep, which his job actively prevented

Neo needed to get the fuck out of the fake reality he knew was fake

All of their “needs” were not being taken care of.
>>
>>223586655
>9x5 in a corpo hellscape

Work in such place longer than 5 years and you will reach the frustration level from Joe Versus Volcano.
Fucking zoomzooms and their retarded contrarianism
>dude what if work is le fun and everybody before us was wrong

There’s also a “my theory” in there that you skipped. Read: he doesn’t know, he’s just saying what he thinks.

Fight Club was literally written by a homosexual who eats cum and used the proceeds from the book and movie to buy himself a ranch and go full boomer NIMBY
The story the Matrix was based off of was written by a negress and the Wachowski brothers are now the Wachowski sisters
Make of this what you will. I make of it that both stories, while enjoyable and having relevant themes, were written by sexually degenerate spiteful mutants.

Not true. Some nog grifter tried to claim that but had 0 proof and her idea had nothing to do with Matrix.

>get up at 6 in the morning
>sit in traffic and watch sub-90 IQ mongoloids play fast and the furious so they can be six feet closer to the next red light
>clock in to work at 9
>work consists of the equivalent of coloring in quarter-inch squares on a sheet of paper a number of different colors, stapling the sheet in the prescribed sheet stapling area, sending it for approval, have it need to be redone and submitted back three seperate times because they think the staple isnt in the right spot even though it is, then getting it accepted, then shredded in front of you while they hand you a new sheet to do another one but this time with more squares
>hour for lunch
>continue your stupid useless task while the middle-aged HR lady with the attitude of a failed preschool teacher stands over your shoulder to make sure youre not doing anything that someone may possibly think someone else might maybe take offense at
>leave work at 6
>arrive home at 7
>all of three hours to yourself before you have to go sleep and do it all again tomorrow
Oh yeah office jobs are great

Go start your own business and I guarantee in less than five years you'll be running back to big corpo clutching your and prolapsed asshole begging for you "bullshit" job back.
>>
>>223586655
Whats so cushy about sitting in a sterile cubical having to put up with some cunt of a boss?
>>
>>223587411
A sexually degenerate (gay or trans) spiteful mutant?
Usually getting diddled or just bullied for being all faggy, surprised you don't already know.
>>
>>223586655
What would the zoomer equivalent be? Getting ghosted by your favourite streamer?
>>
>>223586655
It makes you wonder prior to wide spread internet adoption and use, how easy was working? Sure a bit more paperwork but imagine how long things took to get done. Sending messages, getting approvals, probably more meetings etc etc. 9-5 was probably way less work per week than it is today. Makes sense why they never wanted to retire and want everyone back in office
>>
>>223586796
>nap if you know the supervisor is not around
Comfy is sleeping when you want to. Not be in fear of some supervisor.
You must be a jeet.
>>
>>223587450
Oh and also, pretty much no after hours or on call bullshit. Once you were gone for the day, that was it. No logging in real quick

Whatever happened to the 9-5 anyway? It's more like 7-5 now with an unpaid hour lunch AND you have to stay late.

They try to take an interest in politics but end up trapped in a nightmare reality fueled entirely by memes.

I'd argue it's for the same reason, because life feels unfulfilling. deep down you know you are wasting your limited time with monotonous tasks you don't really care about, but's there is nothing you can do because you are bound by the shakes of societal norms.
it feels like your trapped by outside forces greater than you and it is no coincidence so many anti-consumerism waves started out in the 90s, not only in movies but in music etc

Good morning, saar

>>223587464
On call jobs existed before the internet anon. Also the fact you can’t imagine a situation where a computer screen doesn’t mean limitless entertainment is quite telling.
>>
>>223587413
Zoomzooms have never seen a worplace in their useless lives, so for them it's all dragons, unicorns and unexplored lands
>>
>>223587506
if everyone’s working then everyone needs to work longer for businesses to have customers to interact with

Yes anon, intractable insomnia leading to psychosis and being trapped in a fake reality you know is fake is just being “unfulfilled.”

The theme of constant struggle and fight for meaning and value is a core running theme throughout the trilogy. It is touched on again with the architect

>This is the 6th time we have destroyed Zion and we have become very efficient at it

And comes back again in 3 when smith gives his Why do you persist speech. I recommend re-watching the movies kid
>>
back in the day at least we were making products, now we just selling "services"

I like how 4chan mocks Reddit when it's the same thing -- the same threads over and over and over with the same answers. Give it a rest and post something original. Fuck.
>>
>>223587616
Non-sequitur. The central point of the movies is the machines don’t actually know how or why humans can reject the programming of the matrix. Because they’re entirely physical beings defined entirely by their hardware/programming.

Furthermore, smith being a fully rogue program in the second and third movie is just an escalation from the first, as agents aren’t programmed to want to destroy Zion and escape the matrix. His speech about the smell, pulling out the ear piece, and being infected by it is showing that he has already been “infected” by prolonged contact with humans and has become unstable and is acting outside of his role as matrix custodian.
