>be me>never watched a single episode of game of thronesWhat the fuck happened in the last season?
watch it and see for yourself
>>223592484Fans set up expectations for themselves that could never be met.
Six and seven being rated that high is crazy stuff.
>>223592511lol. lmao. thanks for the input, george.
>>223592511this is true. But they also botched it
Popcorn-chewing bar goers really watched through all of seasons 5-8 expecting great things. Up until the last minute they thought it was going somewhere.
>>223592484Its amazing how hype blinds people and its take an absolute dumpster fire for people to realize how shit things actually are because the scores for seasons 5-7 are ridiculous.
>>223592484Directors were severely burnt out at this point and just wanted to get it over with. The dynamic going into the final season was a production team that struggled to care and a global audience that thought this was the greatest shit ever. To be fair, no show that ran as long as GoT ever lands the final season well. There's just too much expectation built up that cannot be met, whether that means the audience set way too high a bar or it's just beyond the limits of human creativity.
>Those S7 ratingsLmao at the plebbit faggots
>>223592484without looking it up is the 7.9 in S5 the episode where jamie and bron are in dorne
>>223592484>S6E9 9.9>Rickon forgets to zig zag>Jon charges in alone forcing his already outnumbered army into a horrible position>12 foot tall pile of corpses on the battlefield>Sansa knows the Vale is coming but just keeps it to herself and allows her allies to get slaughtered
>>223592836>>Sansa knows the Vale is coming but just keeps it to herself and allows her allies to get slaughteredShe's the smartest person I've ever met.
>>223592484People were very generous to seasons 5-7
>>223592484What episode is 5:6?
>>223592484The two stooges ran out of the source material and tried to finish it on their own.
>>223592484>Only season 8 was bad
>>223592980
>>223592484that's redditors rating the episodes based on whether they like what happened to "their characters" or noteverything past season 3 is dogshit
>>223592534>>223592568>>223592576>>223592944>>223593007It goes to show, fans would have loved the show if their favorite characters “won” in the end. They never cared about the pacing or the dialogue or any of that cope, they just couldn’t deal with the fact the characters they stanned got tragic endings
The pretty white people didn’t sail off into the sunset together therefore it’s le bad
>>223592484GoT declined a lot earlier, but normies were too dumb to notice. S1 was the only good season, and S2 was okay. S3 and S4 had good moments but were mostly bad. And the latter half was just entirely shit and got increasingly shittier.
>>223592484>What the fuck happened in the last season?People got really into it after the Red Wedding, which is when the writers stopped caring. Then that same audience worshipped garbage like Hardhome and the Battle of the Bastards so the writers knew they didn't have to do good writing or dialogue anymore
>>223593131This isn't true barely any characters get sad endings aside from Dany and I guess Jaime. Even Jon gets to go and be King Beyond the Wall or whatever. The fact that people hated it despite it being a crowd pleaser ending is proof it sucked
The show went to shit after Cersei blew up the church or whatever. I think it was season 5. I stopped watching at that point and am not at all surprised that they shit the bed so awfully with the ending.
>>223593235>stupid thing happens to handwave away all the bad writing>but it happens stylishly with unique music>normalfags lap it up at the best thing that ever happened
>>223592484They didn't have a final book to base it off of and just shit the bed.
>>223593235Yeah the church blowing up was like the last good moment
>>223592484that happens when hacks dont have a book to make a show.
Who the FUCK takes the time to rate single episodes?
>>223593269Seems like something someone would have brought up after it happened. Like, "Hey, remember that time Cersei blew up the Vatican? That was crazy." But I'm not a Hollywood screenwriter.
people didnt understand that danaerys was telegraphed as evil from episode 1 and seriously expected her to reign as queen with jon
>>223593297Yeah they didn't handle the aftermath well but the actual moment was cool.
>>223593206Jon didn’t kill the night king and become king azor ahai prophecy boy and dany didn’t become the benevolent hero savior queen, and normies couldn’t accept that subversion
>>223593007Yes, and it wasn't even all of season 8. Only the last three episodes are really bad.
>>223593302>people didnt understand that danaerys was telegraphed as evilbecause the fat white women that like her think the things she does are goodshe acts like how they would act in her place
The show instantly goes to shit when they run out of book material. You can feel it transform into predictable marvelslop the season right after the dude burns his daughter.
>>223593294It's just taken from RT or IMDB or whatever, dude.
>>223592511considering the ratings on the episodes from all the other seasons, that isn't even true. people were more than ready to lap up some mediocre shit and call it the greatest thing ever put on a tv screen; it's just that the slop got too sloppy even for the normalfags in the last season.
>>223593525You mean people had higher expectations for the final episodes in the final season, just like I said?
>>223593540you said that they could never be met, which isn't even true. the bar was firmly set at mediocre, but the final season was so shitty that they didn't even manage to get over that 2-foot tall hurdle.
>>223592484Every storyline was concluded poorly. It was comically bad and I was able to enjoy how bad of a trainwreck it was.
The rot sets in S2 but becomes very noticeable S5. They set themselves up for problems.
>>223592484The producers got a deal to direct star wars movies so they wanted to get it over with fast so they could go get disney slop money.
>>223592484The books aren't finished. So the people at HBO had to come up with the ending themselves.
>>223592484 The showrunners got tired of their own project, whether or not that's their fault or the fact that they had to begin creating their own adaptation is up to you. Somewhere at some point they got into some meeting with Disney who told them that they had a Star Wars trilogy ready for them and they decided to hastily finish the last season of Game of Thrones. This led to issues with the storyline and dialogue. It is their fault but it's also not their fault that Martin never finished his books and at this point never will.
>>223593166If it's fiction, and "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ACTUALLY"(tm), then why would you ever write a shitty ending?
>>223592484S7 having these grades.....grim...
>>223592484If anything, everything beyond season 5 is rated way, way too high.
>>223593378>>223593206>>223593131Dont know bros. I know some normies who only now watched and they liked the series. Maybe we evalueted this series too high
