>In his autobiography, Sam Neill explains he was very reluctant to aggressively slap Isabelle Adjani during the kitchen scene and initially refused to do it. He and director Andrzej Żuławski (who Neill described as a very effective filmmaker but also a bit of a bully) argued over this until Adjani interceded, telling Neill, "Sam, you must do this scene. You must." Neill went through with the scene which took three agonizing takes. Neill was so shaken up by this action, that after the take, he went to the nearest stairwell, put his face in his hands, and wept for ten minutes.
>According to director Andrzej Zulawski, after having watched the final cut of the film, Isabelle Adjani went straight to the bathroom and tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrists with a razor.
The director was a fucking dickhead.

A friend I've watched Phantasm with on several occasions thinks that the movie makes no sense and he has no clue what it's about. I've explained the basic plot several times but he still says it's retarded.
Also, not quite the same since they all love it but all of my friends think I'm insane for bringing up the possibility that there are two killers in Sleepaway Camp.

Gotten sick of elevated horror schlock so I watched a nice ol' fashion slasher.
Grandmother's House (1988) with Uncle Leo from Seinfeld. Surprisingly tense and competently directed. 80s horror were wild times with the lingering titillating shots on the presumably underaged female leads and I saw the real twist of the movie done prior in Symphogear S4.

This viewing has sort of redeemed the ANOES remake for me a little. Yeah, its bad, but at the same time its not nearly as irredeemable as I've thought it was all these years. I thought the same thing when I saw they're gonna play the Candyman remake then Scream 2 the next day instead of the first Scream. They should axe the Candyman remake and dedicate a day to The Evil Dead before the 2013 remake instead. Curious why they also chose to screen Halloween on the 30th instead of, y'know, Halloween? Watches for the day:
>Alive or Dead (2008)
Interesting low budget road slasher I downloaded from wipfilms.net where a couple of women get stranded in a deserted castle and hunted down by a fat mutant hillbilly freak. Watchable enough, and upheld the 2000's horror trope of starring a girl with big boobs and low-rise jeans.

>Demons (1985)
The Bava classic. Not much else to say about this unless you haven't seen it yet, which you definitely should.

Currently watching
>The Ritual: Black Nun (2023)
A Cambodian horror with some of the worst English dubbing I've seen in a while, but that kinda plays into its charm. Feels like an early 2000's remake of a Japanese horror film.

Probably will wrap up the night with an episode of TFTC or something of the like.

Tubi trash of the day: Hauntedween
1991 slasher movie about a fraternity holding a haunted house fundraiser at a abandoned home where an "accidental" murder occurred years ago. The killer returns during the haunt to exact revenge? Maybe he just got a taste for murder? I don't know. What I do know is it has a few interesting kills and a few interesting titties, along with a killer soundtrack. The ending made me stand up in my seat and proclaim "that's not how that works!" along with a twist that made me declare "that's definitely not how that fucking works!" If you're looking for some nice low budget slop to waste some time, look no further.

That sounds apocryphal but I can believe that they were both upset about it. Still, the 10 minute crying and the suicide attempt just sound ridiculous. that scene in the gym(?) is pretty horrific. its alright to have movies that drift off a little i think. i planned in some thrillers for this month to spice it up and earlier this month i watched zone troopers which is not even close to horror, but a throwback 50s scifi and ww2 film.

I was sure Out Of The Further was going to be a reboot of the series, but this was exactly as convoluted as I'd expect an "Insidious VI" to be.
Won me over a bit by the end just because the death magician cultist was a cool character. But it was a missed opportunity to do away with the scare setups and hi-jinks and go back to creepy basics.

Curse of the Undead
Billy the Kid vs Dracula
The Burrowers
High Plains Drifter
Black Noon
Haunted Gold (1932) if you're especially based and like real oaters

My double feature tonight was actually movies that blended old west ghosts with neo-western settings. Not strictly westerns, but it's a grey area, and there really aren't many actual western/horrors.
Devil Rider was just terrible all around but Ghost Town (1988) was entertaining Empire slop.
Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat is in that same camp, with old west vampires in a modern west setting.

I'd made a list for an Anon in previous threads, but ones I forgot to mention that I thought about tonight were
>They Call Her Death
Made in 2024 but shot on older Kodak film stock to get a more vintage look. Not a great movie production-wise, but has a certain gritty visual charm that you don't really see anymore, and is worth checking out
>The Hanged Man (1974)
If you can tolerate VHS quality (even the DVD is just a shitty VHS rip, but I'm hoping it gets a proper remaster eventually), it's a good made-for-TV western about a guy who survives a hanging and then tries to figure out how he can make the best use his spared life, ending with a supernatural showdown with the land-greedy villain
>5 Card Stud (1968)
A brutal, horror enough murder-mystery western with Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum, and Roddy McDowell, where a tinhorn gets hanged for cheating in a poker match and then the men who hanged him start getting murdered one by one

Oops! Oh well. anyway,
Just finished. 100<100 #008
A pitiful "anthology" clocking in at just 40 minutes that takes the Wishmaster formula and misunderstands it to the point of insanity.
Wish 1: An author's wife dies of a heart attack (after complaining about the price of bacon being too high), and he wishes for her to be alive and with him forever. She comes back as a zombie, he's put in an insane asylum, and she's his nurse. ???
Wish 2: A couple stop at an abandoned carnival and the husband wishes to get scared to death. 0____0 So that's what happens.
Wish 3: A wife annoyed that her husband won't stop working on their anniversary wishes that she was loved and adored. So she gets transformed into a tree. ???
Fucking nonsensical and makes a point out of warning its characters to word their wishes carefully when in all three that doesn't play into the wishes going wrong at all. I got a strong Christian filmmaking vibe off of this and I see that he's based in Utah so I'm guessing these people are all Mormons (the guys all act like they're in the closet, lol). Apparently this director has a little notoriety because of some Yugioh fan movie he made 20 years ago.
