I'll be 100% honest. Part of me is convinced that this entire movie plot is deep cut Scientology story, that he's trying to push onto the masses by trying to play both sides, and make it look like a fun little flick.

Remember how Jon Travolta tried to push Battle Field Earth, which was literally just an undisclosed scientology movie about space miners... I fully believe this movie is the same fucking thing
