It’s a western, but with lots of swearing.
>>223597145>omg you aren’t ready for the awesome thing that’s about to happenThree seasons of that. The awesome thing never happens (except for the bear fight).
It surprised me to learn that there are people out there who legitimately cannot understand the dialog of this show. They aren't ESLs either, yet they act like the actors are speaking an entirely different language. I'm guessing this is why Deadwood got cancelled, sub-100 IQs literally cannot watch it.
The Deadwood threads are evidence of it too. People don't seem to appreciate the finer dialogue and instead just endlessly post "those who doubt me suck cock by choice"

Rewatching rn. I don't like how everyone immediately begins to disassemble at the mere mention of George Hurst in season 2.
>>223597145HAHAHAHAHAHA I also talk like Shakespeare when I call you a cocksucker!HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH! It's super clever and not like john Wayne!
>>223597145Anyone find it weird this is the one HBO show that lacks rape? It should be as Rapey as game of thrones. I’m being serious.

>>223597710Swern gen! Cock suckah!>>223597220The dialogue, characters and acting are top tier, but I don't really remember anything about the show. I should rewatch it but there are a few other shows I'd like to watch for the first time before I do that.
>>223597145How else would you justify your HBO subscription if there wasn't swearing and nudity?
>>223597184I think it's an attention thing, you have to actually pay attention to the dialogue the whole time to fully appreciate it which is why it's my favorite show to rewatch, there's always another element you didn't notice before
>It's an Alma scene
>>223597145its not a westernits a Shakespearean epic in a western setting, but with better dialogue/writing than both
>>223597145Deadwood is literally the greatest show ever written. Milch's (a certifiable genius and possibly the greatest writer currently alive) best work
>>223597184I'm ESL and loved the dialog. It's peak.
>>223597220those who doubt me suck cock by choice
>it's an Alma's pits scene
>nothing happens>midwits think it's high art because the dialog is shrouded by period innacurate swearingit's for people who never matured and still associate swearing with being grown up and being grown up with being smart
>>223597145
>>223598349>Deadwood is good because of the swearingvery common midwit opinion desu
>>223598095yes and also for jane. if they cut all of the lines for both of these characters the show would be better for it.
>>223597145>>223597298>>223597885>>223598349>hurr durr swearing and nudityhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4isTaYN7i68
>>223597145>with lots of swearingI don't think that's even accurate. That's what makes it so reddit. From what I can see, it was a big deal when Cowboys said "damn" back then. They weren't walking around talking like this
>>223599307you have to remember that it's a mining camp and their language reflects the environment, if they used swear words from that time period it would sound retarded to us and wouldn't carry the same weight. He talks more about the language in this videohttps://youtu.be/Erzbku4j0TE?t=226
>>223599363Cows don't look like cows on film. You gotta use horses.
>>223599307The original Pilot (which has still never been released) had different expletives to match the language of the period, but test audiences laughed at it saying it made everyone sound like Yosemite Sam, so they replace it with cursing from our day as an analog to what people back then would find shocking.
