two good movies. That is all
>>
jedi isn't bad. if you have a problem with ewoks just ask yourself what's worse, them or jar jar
>>
Four.
>>
Lucas films are all good tbqhwy

jedi's problems go way beyond ewoks
off the top of my head
>han solo has nothing to do and should have died in Empire
>Leia also has nothing to do and plays foot soldier when she is literal royalty
>the whole "turning Vader to good" thing comes completely out of nowhere
>"somehow.....the Death Star returned"
>ewoks are already pretty bad but they are just a part of awful scenes such as them comically defeating a battle hardened storm trooper unit, the same unit being tricked into EVERYBODY GOING OUTSIDE so they can be instantly defeated, the AT-ST scene, etc
It's probably still an Okay movie but it's fair to say it's nowhere near A New Hope or Empire.
>>
>>223602363
dude, these are teddy bears with stick. Ridiculous
>>
>>223602534
retard criticism
Jedi has flaws but is still a good movie.
>>
>>223602308
originals and Andor
>>
>>223602308
Only Empire Strikes Back is a legitimately good film that even the snobbiest of snobs would enjoy. The rest is pure crap

>if you have a problem with ewoks just ask yourself what's worse, them or jar jar

The last time I watched Jedi, the Ewoks were highly reminiscent of Jar Jar. It's the same kind of humour, the only difference is that the Ewoks are nonverbal (at least, they don't say anything we can understand) while Jar Jar is endlessly talkative.

Personally I will take Jar Jar over the Ewoks because he's so unfunny it becomes funny, and it gets even funnier when I think of all the rage he caused in the fandom, and then still funnier when I remember the contemporary review that called him a racist stereotype with Afro-Caribbean characteristics. I enjoy him at the meta-level: he's painful to watch but it's amusing that he exists in what was one of the most anticipated movies of all time. If you read the script for The Phantom Menace, you'll see that Jar Jar's lines were written exactly as they are in the film. Ahmed Best didn't ad-lib anything there, no, a celebrated filmmaker in his 50s sat down and wrote that shit.

>The rest is pure crap
If you can't distinguish good from crap you can't distinguish superlative from pretentious BS and will always be a pseud.

This. ESB is really good movie, but not been on the same level, i still enjoy New Hope. Everything else is garbage though

> Ewoks were highly reminiscent of Jar Jar. It's the same kind of humour,
No they aren't, not even close. Jar Jar is a bumbling fool, not only portrayed as such but even ackowledged by the story. Jar Jar has literally been banished from the Gungan City for clumsiness. That's his primary character trait.

Ewoks aren't clumsy. They are primitives. They look cute and there's an obvious humor intended in the cute/fierce dichotomy.

The only real similarity between Ewoks and Gungans is their role in the plot. They are both natives that are recruited to join the protagonists for a big battle. Their societies are different, their tech levels are different, their appearances are different, their habitats are different, the societies are different. Even the humor is different. Gungans' humor is heavily verbal, with both Boss Nass and Jar Jar saying normal things in weird ways. And Jar Jar's physical humor is entirely oriented around his clumsiness. Meanwhile Ewok humor is primarily physical, based on the cute little teddy bear visuals.

>the only difference is that the Ewoks are nonverbal
That's also a massive difference as the way Jar Jar speaks and the things he says are a big part of people's problem with him. He sounds like a stereotypical retard.

Warwick Davis never got booted like a football by a stormtrooper.
Empire best.

remove the top row and we good

This is an embarrassing thing to admit.

Where's Clone Wars?
>>
>>223602941
>Ewoks aren't clumsy.
Are you forgetting the scene where an Ewok tries to ride a speeder and flies it into a tree?
>>
>>223602308
are you insane
andor is great
8/10 for sure
>>
>>223603107
Andor is barely Star Wars. It's the exact opposite of George's vision: dark, dour, depressing, everyone going around with a face like a smacked arse, no aliens, no mysticism, no rousing music, no sex appeal, no campiness, no memorable lines. Notice how the show hasn't generated a single meme on this board.
>>
>>223602308
Only the original movie is good. It starts falling apart as soon as you try to flesh the world out.

The lack of aliens really makes the galaxy feel much smaller.
>>
>>223603262
Fair critique but allow me to retort
>dark, dour, depressing
I am not sure it is. It clearly shows us what the good times that are worth fighting for are. The Harvest Planet for example. While the themes are about hopelessness and resignation, they are also about finding strenght in those darkest moments. Luke finding Owen and Beru and Alderaan getting rekt are also extremely dark. Andor just shows us the massacres happening.
>no aliens, no mysticism
true, almost none (seer woman, doctor saving the young rebel)
>no sex appeal, no campiness
nah. sex appeal is really not one of star wars focus. Maybe beauty. But thats covered. i cant even think of anything remotely visually sexy-focused besides maybe Leia in 4 and the one-off in 6.
>Notice how the show hasn't generated a single meme on this board.
yeah thats true
>>
>>223603095
No because it never happened. There is a scene where an ewok steals a speeder. There's a gag where he has a little trouble because he's tiny and isn't ready for how fast it will go. But he adapts quickly. Not clumsy.
>>
>>223602752
how do you bridge the prequels to andor? in andor the empire is already fully realised. i think they need something to fix this
>>
>>223602308
Hot take: I really only like the first one, I think it's a near-perfect film. None of the sequels are as good, the prequels are lame and the Disney ones are godawful.

The first one is still immaculate in my opinion. A great tale, great effects and imagination, never boring and then it's over and it leaves you fulfilled. A masterpiece of commercial cinema.

None of the films, TV shows or whatever crap they've been coming up with for the past 50 years recapture that magic.

Accurate post.

A proper Obi Wan show would have been good. With Yoda and Sheev in it
>>
>>223602308
revenge of the sith and rogue one were okay as well though
>>
RotJ is good
>>
>>223602308
>ESB came out in 1980
>50 years later is still generates attention
How is this franchise not dead, buried and forgotten?
>>
>>223604280
The prequels.
Disney is trying their best to destroy it forever now.
>>
>>223602629
It's not interesting to say something is good or bad. What makes it better than the rest?
>>
>>223602308
Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, yes OP, we know.
>>
>>223604559
People who only like ESB or ANH and ESB rarely have thoughts of their own anyway.
>>
>>223604280
They are enjoyable movies. A little old-fashioned by standards of modern overstimulated blockbuster audiences with lower IQs. But still broadly accessible fun with entertaining action and memorable characters.
>>
>>223602363
>this bad thing isn't so bad when you consider that this worse thing exists
That's how you get pushed into accepting shit.
