what a hack

Kill yourself faggot

I'm so sick of that narrative. The man made THX 1138, his movie would have been fine with any other editor
>>
something needs to exist first for someone else to be able to edit it
>>
>>223608299
Are women going to start "we wuzing" like black people?
>>
She rearranged two scenes
>>
>>223608404
They already do, but the person who made that image is a tranny
>>
>>223608299
>yeah well I made him a sandwich!
Not the own you think it is
>>
What do these people think editing is? She did her job and it was a good job, just like the other thousands of good editors throughout film history. It isn’t magic.
>>
>>223608454
It's magic when the film you're handed is a mess to begin with.
The prequels are notoriously badly directed and badly written so I assume Lucas was an even worse director of actors in 1977.
>>
>>223608488
>prequels are bad
No their not lol.
>>
>>223608488
Well you’d assume incorrectly. Early Lucas was much more creatively inclined and took advice and help from the best people in the business. He was more isolated and intimidating during the prequel era
>>
>>223608488
>i can't understand a movie written for children, this must be the director's fault!
Skill issue.
>>
There is such a thing as brilliant editing where the editor practically changes the whole movie and flow of the story but that isn't what Marcia Lucas did on Star Wars or any other film she ever worked on.

She does typical 70's spaghetti-and-meatballs editing, nothing to write home about.
>>
>>223608299
imagine if she edited the prequels and made them good...
>>
>>223608299
Her contribution have been really really overstated because of Lucas hate during the prequel era.
>>
>>223608299
>woman touches the 1% of something
>"she did it"

why is the west like this?
>>
>>223608488
>when the film you're handed is a mess to begin with.
You've seen it?
>>
>>223608729
a combination of faggotry and the insatiable urge to be an insider into the "truth". it's a piece of "trivia" that some normalfag homo can toss around to look like they're some kind of knower of arcane knowledge that no other person could ever possibly be aware of, as if they were brave challengers of orthodoxy
>>
>>223608299
LOL never happened. Her additions and editions were welcome, but she didn't save it any more than he did because he was one of its unofficial editors, OP.

>WISH I HAD THE CONFIDENCE OF A MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN THEY BE GETTIN PRAISE FOR ERRYTHIN!
meanwhile
>if a woman or minority does a good job at their contribution to a project they're paraded around as the one totally responsible for its success
I'm so tired of this jewish society.
>>
>>223608299
I though she wasn't even involved with the final cut that first made it to theaters?
>>
>>223608956
She was and "her cut" (yes I know she never had one in any sense) DID make it to theaters and that is the one that everyone forgot in favor of his 1981 re-edit that he and Fox and Disney falsely call "the 1977 original".
>>
>>223608299
By your logic 99.9% of directors or writers are hacks and all the random editors actually made the movies and filmed them
>>
>>223608919
>WISH I HAD THE CONFIDENCE OF A MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN THEY BE GETTIN PRAISE FOR ERRYTHIN!

The woman that say this think they are detectives because they saw a tiktok reel that said lindsay clancy is innocent.
>>
>>223608797
It's pretty famous that the whole trench run sequence is a product of her editing
>>
>>223608919
>>if a woman or minority does a good job at their contribution to a project they're paraded around as the one totally responsible for its success
I've been in multiple college STEM departments which do this for Rosalind Franklin and make it part of the course curriculum. Shit is insane.
>>
>>223609100
>the whole trench run sequence is a product of her editing

And three other people's editing. This is a classic case of women reviewing something that a woman touched and then pronouncing the entire thing female.
>>
She was barely involved in the editing process. After the initial cut of the film, Lucas fired his first editor and hired 3 new editors, one of whom was his wife. His wife then left the project almost immediately to go work on a different project for one of the other Brats (Coppola I think?).
The weirdest thing about these stories is the subject of them never claims any of this shit. People just project delusions onto real people to serve some bullshit narrative with no basis in reality.
Another example of this is that black hole visualization project, Reddit just took one picture of a woman who worked on it and made up a story where she did all the work. She never claimed that, she never even implied that.
>>223608919
The fact that Lovelace is more widely known that Babbage is completely absurd.
>>
>>223609020
there's a reason people in the industry actually pay attention to who's editing
>>
>>223609155
>She was barely involved in the editing process

Now that is false as well.
>>
>>223609159

>>
>>223609155
Pssst. It's too obvious you hate women. You need to seethe less obviously if you want to convert these people.
>>
>>223609155
It's clearly motivated by politics in this case or in the black hole project, but even when it's not people just seem to consolidate contributions to large projects behind the name of a single person.
>>
>>223609155
Read The Making of Star Wars by J.W. Rinzler.
Lucas's wife was the least involved editor on the project.

This is every aspect of social existence. You're describing dialectics. Orthodoxy is challenged by revolution and then reinstated by reaction albeit modified.

many such cases
there's even a fucking genre of this shit like "Hidden Figures" (the people we paid to do gruntwork calculations did the gruntwork calculations, THEY ARE THE TRUE HEROES)
>>
>>223608299
George did 90% of the work
>>
she was a film editor. her job was to edit films. she did her job, was paid, received credit, and now you want more? why? she's dead.
>>
>>223608299
George, his wife, and a friend of theirs edited the movie together. This is public knowledge.

>>223609276
In this case the politics angle is secondary to the Lucas erasure angle. Nerds are morons who think just because George did something they dislike, then he must be a complete fraud and never ever did anything good in his entire life.
>>
>>223609529
I think it's good to tell stories about people behind the scenes who maybe didn't get to enter into the spotlight. But I hate the way "Hidden Figures" stories play out, where it's innately political and they massively exaggerate their contributions. If it was just a story about a woman who played a small part and felt proud about it and, from her perspective, we got to see the way NASA evolved with time, then that would be a pretty neat film.

You see more respect for these little lives in anime and the occasional British TV show. But most films and TV can't stomach considering a small person, so they have to inflate them to ungodly levels of importance and skill.
>>
>>223609666
yeah, it's never about celebrating the "hidden figures," it's about attacking white guys. it's not even a secret, people are just so demoralized that they think it's a good thing.
>>
>>223609825
These works are about celebrating, not attacking white guys. Get your head out of your /pol/ infested ass. The problem is these projects don't know how to uplift something else without trying to tear down the things around it. Even fucking 300 minimized the accomplishments and valor of other Greeks to focus on the Spartans.
>>
>>223608299
Tiktok really is obsessed with "actually (Genius)'s wife did everything." They tried for a bit with Einstein and it eventually faded away because literally anyone with some knowledge on the subject knows that's bullshit.

women are the nwords of the universe

>morons who think just because George did something they dislike, then he must be a complete fraud and never ever did anything good in his entire life.
This is the real reason this shit is parroted nonstop. The George Lucas hate after the prequels was almost absurdly vicious and they did everything in their power to try and shift the achievements of the original trilogy to anyone else. RLM basically made their career doing this lol.

Edited by
Paul Hirsch
Marcia Lucas
Richard Chew

so three editors two of whom were male.

>Empire Strikes Back

considered the best of the franchise and she had nothing to do with it (Lucas didn't direct but he was still heavily involved obviously)

You're not celebrating someone's birthday if you turn up to their party and aggressively point out to every participant that the party could only happen because of your hard work whose importance you also exaggerate.

Someone did this, but I don't think it's available on YouTube anymore.

They dropped the first episode, considered optional, and removed all Anakin's anger issues, at least during their courtship, and restored cutting room floor protracted interaction, visiting her family, and so on, and suddenly it became believable.

Yeah I didn't say these movies were good. They're kind of shit. Even that damn Alan Turing movie just shat on everyone else at Bletchley Park. They even turned Turing into a turbo autist just because he's a genius, instead of a gregarious guy who helped pull the team together. Fuck, he was gay as hell, of course he could get a room going.

Rotj is just
>Jabba's Palace and Barge
>An hour of filler
>Ewoks and throne room
>>
>>223611731
The Turing movie really upset me because it totally fictionalized him. As well as diminishing everyone else at Bletchley eg Tommy Flowers, it also invented a tragic fag love story to inspire him to build and equally fictional supercomputer in his house
>>
>>223612709
And the greatest space battle ever put on film.
But thank you, for all those reasons and more, it's the best sequel outside of, or at least equal to TESB.
>>
ROTJ is the best of the original trilogy, aside from ESB and ANH
