There will never be another film series as good as The Lord of the Rings. It landed at exactly the right moment, with exactly the right filmmakers, cast, technology, and source material, and somehow all of those pieces actually worked. It's not just that the films were spectacular, it's that they felt like they had been made by people who genuinely believed Middle-earth was real. The scale was enormous, but the emotional stakes were intimate; the battles were colossal, but a conversation between two hobbits could matter just as much. It's not just the craftsmanship, it's the commitment. Peter Jackson and his team spent years building an entire world with practical sets, miniatures, costumes, languages, locations, models, and effects that still have more texture than a lot of modern blockbusters. The cast was absurdly well assembled, the score became inseparable from the world, and the trilogy had the rare luxury of telling one enormous story without stopping every ten minutes to wink at the audience or advertise the next installment. Hollywood can spend $250 million on a movie; that doesn't mean it can manufacture lightning in a bottle. And then there's the small problem of The Lord of the Rings being The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien gave the filmmakers a foundation that had already spent decades becoming one of the defining works of modern fantasy, and Jackson's trilogy became the definitive cinematic version of it. You can imitate the sweeping landscapes, the orchestral scores, the armies charging into battle, and the vaguely medieval armor, but you can't recreate the cultural moment, the source material, or the sheer audacity of making three gigantic fantasy films and having all three be genuinely great. Plenty will be bigger, shinier, and more expensive. None will be that trilogy.Lightning struck Middle-earth once, and Hollywood has been standing outside with a bucket ever since.
Harry potters better
>>223611137return of the king is the weakest movie thoughbeit.
>>223611137Aren't her eyes naturally blue, why the fuck was she wearing contacts?
If the movies are so good then why does Christopher Tolkien hate them so much?
>>223611328They completely changed some of the characters. Boromir is one example everybody knows about but they also changed Faramir's character. Also the Liv Tyler character is completely different from the book.
>>223611524Eowyn got the absolute worst of it. She was badly miscast to begin with but she was cut out of her own role in the story as the badass warrior princess so they could do Liv Tyler's action hero theatrics one movie early. Her role was reduced from "rebellious teenager with a death wish" to whatever the fuck it was Hackson gave us. "Mopey middle aged wine aunt" or something. They never even bothered trying to disguise her as a man in RotK. Like just put an aventail under her helmet for fuck's sake. And what's her face couldn't manage even a fraction of Ian McKellen's intensity with the Balrog for her showdown with the Witch King.
>>223611713Yet you don't say shit about your precious Amazon show shitting on the lore. Get bent, lit-tard.
>>223611763I've never watched one minute of the Amazon show faggot.
>>223611328Well Jackson added some really stupid shit like the Elves of Lothlorien marching like robots into Helm's Deep, somehow evading the Isengarder forces cordoning off the approaches and roaming at will across all of Rohan, when in the book they would never do something like that and were in fact dealing with the a surprise attack from Dul Guldor in Mirkwood.
