Hello /kdg/, I don't want to be a nuisance, but I am looking for show recommendations. I've never watched any k-dramas, but over the last year I've gotten into Korean FMV games. Next year there is a game releasing called What the K-Drama, and I'd like to get familiar with some k-drama tropes and stuff before it releases.

Here is a quote from an article that says what will be in the game, and I'd appreciate some recommendations based off it.

Chaebols are the giant family-owned megacorporations that basically run Korea; Samsung, SK, Hyundai, LG, etc. "King of Dramas" from 2012 is itself satire on k-dramas and their production, and while it'd probably be better for your own enjoyment to get familiar enough with the medium to really appreciate the jokes, I think it's still /possible/ to watch as a newcomer or someone who's only seen a handful (probably better) - it'd be a good one to watch before the thing comes out, at least.

Yeah but it's not really a common sight/trope or anything. It originally came from some daily drama (equivalent to daytime soap operas) and got giga popular for how outrageous it was. It's not something you'd see in your regular everyday kdrama but it is a very well-known thing. Old rich lady throwing water in the face of her son's poor lover is a more regular occurrence

Anyway, if you want to find all of them in 1 drama, you'd probably have to look towards the more soap opera-y kind (which is what I assume this game will be parodying). Such dramas are generally referred to as makjang, very dramatic, messy, and over-the-top. But I'm not a huge makjang head so I don't have any personal recommendations unfortunately. I know Penthouse and The Last Empress were particularly ridiculous though. Daily dramas are also a good source but for a newcomer I wouldn't really recommend
