>DIGGER is reportedly projected to lose $250M - one of the biggest Hollywood bombs ever.
Why is this happening bros? Why do original ideas always get punished?
>>
true movie fans Digg
>>
>southern larger than life immoral man
>dark shadowy grey cinematography

unoriginal. seen it.
>>
Who cares though? The movie got made, which is the real win. I don't care if some millionaire executives lose money on it.
>>
Buying two more tickets, we've got to DIGG DEEPER
>>
>>223627071
How can 180M budget film lose 250M?
>>
he's a dig guy
>>
>>223627071
how can a movie lose more than it cost to make?
>>
>>223627179
For Iñárrityou
>>
>>223627071
how are they gonna dig themselves out of this one
>>
>>223627071
I guess the Producers gotta DIGG™ deep now....
>>
>>223627204
Marketing and distribution costs, anon.
>>
>>223627071
The marketing made the film look like Don’t Look Up meets Dr. Strangelove. And people are sick of 2 hour lectures on how we the audience are killing the planet. Especially when millionaires with private jets are giving the lectures.
>>
>>223627071
>An original idea is satirizing satire
This self-indulgent garbage deserved to bomb

OMG A Tom Cruise film lost money??
I hope Tom Cruise has money.......
>>
>>223627160
>>223627204
Marketing is usually as much as production, especially for Tommy C to fly private everywhere to shill it. That said its usually bullshit because its a company paying another division of itself to juice numbers
>>
Fake news. I'll be watching it for the 3rd time tomorrow #keepondiggin
>>
>>223627071
Good. This is delayed punishment for how fucking terrible Birdman was.
>>
>>223627071
I just got back from the kinoplex. I watched Digger in an empty IMAX theater for $10. It's a $100 million art film that the studio decided to advertise as a wacky political satire starring Tom Cruise. It represents pure 4chan cynicism and is absolutely a pleb filter. I loved Digger.
>>
well
tom cruise is unrecognizable
The name of the movie is a giant ?, no relevance to plot or anything
the idea that rich people are responsible for global warming is a joke.... and icebergs don't "collide" with places....
>>
>>223627424
How do you know pendejo were you there?!
>>
>>223627454
everyone in the movie is just too fucking old
stick to cameos you old farts
>>
>>223627071
it is bad storytelling, dishonest storytelling to market the movie as 1 thing, and then to have it become something else.
>>
>>223627424
I thought it was Bob Odenkirk when I first saw the trailer.
>>
>>223627468
The old hoe from project hail mary is hot AF tho I no longer despise germ*ns

Film of the decade.
>>
I watched the trailer, and i thought I don't want to watch this.
>>
>>223627289
This movie had almost no marketing.
>>
>>223627543
The trailer is 90% of what's in the movie, but it is not what the movie is about.
>>
Retards unironically believe in Hollywood accounting lol. Their fake losses exist because they help them weasel out of taxes.
>>
>>223627122
How long do you have to shill it for?
Honestly they should've told you to stop - marketing campaign clearly failed anyway and it only makes it seem even more pathetic.
>>
>>223627482
>>223627561
>hiding a plot twist is bad...for some reason
They should have marketed Empire Strikes Back by big posters saying "DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER".
>>
>>223627122
and then the studio goes out of business and the movies no longer get made.
gooooolllly didn't think that through
>>
>>223627122
Surely you’d want it to succeed so that studios will be more comfortable in the future taking risks on original IPs, right?

>dishonest storytelling to market the movie as 1 thing, and then to have it become something else.
>director makes a movie
>marketing department says it's something it's not
>the director lied to me!
>>
>>223627591
ESB was about way more than Darth and Luke though.

Trailer for Digger was yet another climate change movie but this time from one of the tycoons pov. So from jump no one gives a shit. And it doesnt have the benefit of being shot on a budget.
>>
feels like the writters of the movie are not aware that "methane" under greenland is actually whats called "natural gas" and what they would be drilling for in the first place....
>>
>>223627552
What are you talking about? Tom Cruise was shilling it hard

When was the last time this happened? The studios keep going upwards. The monopolization under the pretense of the company struggling with money actually only benefits them, all these kikes wish they could just have a single conglomerate supplying the proles with goyslop.
The obsession /tv/ has with box office has roots in the false idea that these fucking jews actually struggle. They don't. The immense budgets are scams (I already made a post, it's Hollywood accounting, look up Peter Jackson going against the studios for faking the amount of money spent on LOTR) that exist mainly for tax evasion but also to create a pretense of struggling so they can then either merge with other companies (with the final goal being total monopolization) and also to do social engineering of demand. They inflate budgets on movies, then when certain movies they know won't make the made up money back "flop" they say they won't make this kind of shit and instead will make other specific type of goyslop that is more popular.
>>
>>223627071
post the digger dance
>>
I'm almost convinced to pirate it
>>
Don't Look Up killed all interest in future climate change propaganda. Doesn't matter what the actual message is. If audiences get even one whiff during a trailer, they write it off forever.
>>
>>223628010
A shame since Digger is very much the anti-Don't Look Up.
Feel like once it hits torrents and people give it a free chance the actual message of the movie will get out more.
>>
>>223627342
This is genuinely the cause. It's not the first piece of crap that suffers, it's the subsequent ones. Which is why the next Nolan film will tank
>>
>>223628194
and what’s the actual message?
if i’m reading it right, it’s a sort of “the satire’s made by the people that are causing the problem, it’s all cheap catharsis and entertainment, wake up sheeple”?
i just wonder, in the context of this movie, and its own message, and who made it, and the fact that it is just cheap catharsis one step removed and self-aware, what the point is?
self-referential media apologetics wrapped around a clearly legible moral cautionary tale just conveys the same story it claims to lampoon while immanentizing it in the most phony way possible. you can’t step above art and what it does as an artist, you’re stuck in it and your arms and legs are tied.
>>
>>223627071
He went full digger. Bruce Willis was a driller in Armageddon and it was a huge hot. Daniel Day-Lewis did a lot of digging in There Will be Blood but he was still an oil man. Never go full digger.
>>
>>223627071
That money could've solved the climate, which only proves Digger right. Checkmate.
>>
Movie was too ambitious and overestimated how much audiences wanted to be preached to
