favorite cooking shows? for me it's Top Chef and pic related
i love claire!
Beat Bobby Flay.
>>223665682>>223665839I’ll never forgive her for taking this from us
>>223665857i like that one too. i don't get why guests think they have a chance or that it's worthwhile to challenge him with italian or american food
I have no conception of how people enjoy cooking
>>223665883i think it was on its way out anyway. they started making more clickbait material like "what do these chefs think about blah blah blah". a lot of them seemed more miserable too
>>223665888The only time they beat him is with baking or desserts. I love when they say “I’m going to do a spin on a classic” and he keeps it traditional and beats them. Then someone comes in and says I’m going to keep it traditional and Bobby says “I’m going to put a spin on this classic” and beats them. I always Wtf at the first challenge how often the “star of the dish” becomes a garnish or an afterthought.
Brian Lagerstrom and Chef John from Foooood Wishes dot com. I actually make some of their recipes regularly.
>>223665682There was this cook Korean cooking show I was watching while working out. It's called Culinary Class Wars. It starts out with 80 "black coat" chefs and 20 "white coat" chefs. The white coats are Michelin level chefs, food people and the black coats are smaller level restaurant owners, youtube cooks, etc.The first round is the 80 getting whittled down to 20, so they can go head-to-head with the white coats. After that round, formats switch multiple times. It's really good. I like that, because it's a Korean based show, the stuff they cook is way different than what I would typically see on an American show. There are two seasons of this show. The other one I've been watching is 24 in 24. It's where 24 chefs have to compete for 24 consecutive hours. I think it was a network show. I find it to be pretty entertaining to see what they cook as the parameters and ingredients change. Chefs get eliminated over the hours and it's almost more of an endurance test than, say, a pure skill test. I've only watched the first of three seasons so far.
>>223665910You get to hone a skill, make good food and feed other people who (hopefully) say it tastes good and it makes you feel good.
>>223665910For me it’s a creative outlet and it’s hands on and constructive. I also enjoy the steps and processes. >Prep, chop and organise all your ingredients >Fire up the flame>Begin the cooking and building flavours>Assemble the dish and put the finishing touches on it>Enjoy the fruits of your labour
>the 2010s was 30 years ago
>>223665910I wish I knew how to cook more, but I fucking hate the cleanup. As >>223665965 has stated, when people praise your cooking, it is a high unlike any other. I'm really good at baking one specific item: zucchini bread. People have actually offered to buy it from me because I make it small sizes. Pic attached.
>>223665939he loses quite often when it's a somewhat obscure dish with roots out of his wheelhouse. it is hilarious when he wins when the person is like "my great great thai grandmother handed this recipe down through generations" and he still wins
>>223665997If you hate the cleanup get into one pot meals like soups and stews. Not much to clean up with those and it's almost cold weather food season once this random heatwave goes away.
>>223665997i must be a sick fuck because i actually enjoy doing dishes and the cleanup after all the energy putting into the food. it's a nice cool down period but maybe i'm just a stressed dude most of the time
>>223665997If clean up is an issue it means you aren’t efficient.
>>223665682they don't even allow threads like this on /ck/, what's up with that? there will be like 9 threads of just random pizza slices though
>>223666076The making food from movies gimmick was fun for like maybe a year. Now the channel sucks and I haven't watch it in years.
>>223666049That's a good point. I have a crock pot and a book of recipes for it, that I should be using as well. >>223666062Whatever reduces your stress, I'm all for.>>223666064I clean while I do it. I'm very efficient at it. I still hate it. I've hated cleaning things my entire life. If I had the money, the first person(s) I would hire is a house cleaner.
>>223666100yeah i don't get how he still has so many subscribers but maybe people don't really unsubscribe from shit. once i saw him on different shows and his true personality it made me realize how awkward and void of charisma he is
>>223666076Tranette no passto
>>223666112Get a dish wand.
>>223665682
>>223666152I want to get a Scrub Daddy and see if they're worth the hype
>>223666161I never use mine. I use the dish wand. If that doesn’t get everything off then it’s steel wool.
>>223666152>>223666161More like bacteria wand. Anything with a sponge on it harbors bacteria and mold within days of use. Picrel is the only acceptable type of scrubber
What does America's Test Kitchen do with all those gizmos and equipment that they test? Just let some employees sneak some of them off the set?
>>223666208>Muh bacteriaShut the fuck up cooklet.
>>223666208Scrub Daddy isn't a sponge the way you think it is. It just looks like one. It's made out of science or something and doesn't absorb and mold like a sponge would, supposedly.
>>223666223Enjoy slowly killing yourself. Shaving days off your life everytime you consume small amounts of toxic mold...
i love that you could tell claire was kind of a bitch and a huge control freak in real life. it would come out on camera sometimes and her coworkers/family would make reference to it
Crazy how significantly better cooking YouTubers are at actually educating people how to cook than big network television shows
>>223666326food shows on tv are all about the competitions and stress to make it suspenseful instead of teaching anyone anything. obviously there are some decent ones but it's mostly bullshit reality show stuff
tournament of champions is the best cooking show, and the most prestigious now. top chef is a shell of itself and casts mostly food network castoffs
>>223666309idk why but i find her incredibly attractive
>>223666352It's the gray stripes. It's always hot as fuck with dark hair
>>223666291Ok, dumbass.
>>223665682>be a boring flat energy vampire in every video>reeee why do people like the guy that actually has charisma and makes them laughSohla was a massive cunt
>hi, I'm Anthony Bourdain and this is killing myself because I got to travel and eat amazing food my entire life
>>223666634"Could it be that people don't want to watch me because i suck? No, no, of course not. It must be racism."
>>223665910It's therapeutic for me and my gf loves it. It's nice developing new skills and as an added bonus it saves you tons of money. The only downside is that most restaurant food sucks by comparison, so it's made me a bit of a food snob. I also bake and bring food in to work, which has helped my career.>>223665965>>223665971Also what these anons said>>223665997If you don't have someone to help you clean up, then clean up while you cook. After a few times it becomes second nature and is a huge time saver.
>>223666634i actually enjoyed her on Bon Appetit but once she started taking shots at Brad way after things calmed down was where I drew the line. Gaby also called her out for always being a cunt behind the scenes
>>223666100I like tasting history with Max Miller
>>223666688Much more informative, entertaining, actual cooking and not cringe for sure.
One time I told a roommate she should cook more for fun in a totally not condescending way and then every time she came home from work and saw me cooking she'd say "you should cook more ;p" and it pissed me off. She's fat now. Fucking bitch. Keep eating trash, you cunt.
>>223666797Don't take it personal, even though I would have, too. You can't help those that don't want it.
>>223666797Wamen are so used to indirect insults from their friends that they interpret even the most friendly suggestions with hostility
I wonder if I made a YouTube video showing off the most lazy, trashy, white American mom enchilada recipe my mom made for me as a kid if it would get views. It's genuinely delicious but sssoooo white but I love it so much.
>>223666873I don't know why you're putting yourself down so much. There's nothing wrong with being white and your mom probably had some lazy meals up her sleeve because she was busy doing mom stuff. You should make the video and even if it doesn't get many views, it can be a nice time capsule to show your kids or something someday.
>>223665997What is the recipe?
>>223666873what are the ingredients? my mom makes a ton of shit like that because it's the only shit my dad will eat. they grew up poor so now that they're old they only crave comfort food or something
>>223666897That's true. I wouldn't want it to be lost to time even though it's the simplest fucking thing ever, especially for a busy mom. Also, one trick that may or may not work as a parent is getting kids hooked on Tabasco sauce young. Because then basically everything tastes good to them. My mom put Tabasco on my thumb to get me to stop sucking on it when I was a baby and it didn't work and now if something sucks I just put Tabasco on it and boom, suddenly it's edible.
>>223665682The Brad/Claire sourDOOOOUGHnuts triology is the best cooking kino on youtube.
>>223666873Post it here, I'll make it.
>>223666952>you DOUGHnut even KNOW???i always loved that one and the making perfect pizza/thanksgiving series. felt almost like the series finale of bon appetit watching now
>>223665682Being Gay in the Kitchen with Paris Hilton
Jamie's 15/20/30 Minute Meals
>>223666934I'll just give you the recipe since it's so easy and I'll probably never make the video>get store bought salsa. She used Pace but I usually get something better like Herdez or whatever>get a bunch of cilantro>get a rotisserie chicken or if you know how to cook chicken like a normal person prepare like you prefer >flour tortillas>Mexican cheese blend>take the store bought salsa and blend it with the bunch of cilantro and that's your sauce>tear apart the chicken and put in some of the sauce and some of the cheese>roll the chicken mixture into the tortillas like normal and put in a baking pan, fit as many as you can>cover with the rest of the sauce and cheese>bake at, I dunno, 375 until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are as crispy as you like>rest for like whatever then serveI dunno dude, they're so good. Definitely not authentic at all but I love them. Soap haters probably wouldn't like it though but it's a good and easy soccer mom family dinner.
>>223666974the way she broke down crying when brad didn't get her pun. this was right after molly spit out her starburst and said it was gross though. claire was ready to kill her
>>223666989>cilantroalready upgraded from any shitty white people tacos/enchiladas
>>223667001And fuck with it too. Sometimes I put chipotles in adobo in the sauce too. I do a more authentic enchilada recipe too but this one is either really good and easy or it's just nostalgia for me
>>223666989I make my own salsa, but I'll definitely try this. Thanks.
It's just cooking, we're not putting a man on the moon here.
>>223667036sounds like nostalgia more than anything, which is fine. sometimes you just miss recipes you grew up with even if you knew it might be slop. doesn't sound too bad eithermy dad eats chipped beef and toast from a fucking can like 4 times a week because that's all his dad knew how to make
>>223667052i hated the editing in the early days with brad episodes but it grew on me big time. once they got rid of editing in cartoon characters and dinosaurs it was funny
What are some good cooking youtube channels?
>>223667147can't go wrong with Food Wishes, even though it seems like he's scaling back lately and might retire soon. dude's been at it for so long
>>223667115Oh and there's my mom's chili recipe. Also lazy as fuck but I loved it but I still fuck it it changing some things. Her craziest addition was corn in chili and I can't look back. I need corn in my chili now.
>>223665682>favorite cooking shows?Good Eats with Alton Brown is a great one if you actually want to learn to cook. Each episode is dedicated to an ingredient, how to shop for it, how to store it, and then 3 or 4 ways to cook it. Hasn't been on the air for years now; but there are tons of old episodes.Great British Baking Show is super comfy. I'm not really into baking myself as much as I am into cooking; but the show is very good natured. Everyone gets a long and helps each other in a charmingly English fashion and the drama of watching some elaborate cake go to shit is pretty entertaining. Top Chef is entertaining; but compared to the various Food Network cooking competitions its hard to learn much of anything from it because they don't really go into detail on how they're cooking a dish. They do make some really impressive food though.
>>223667181i honestly love corn in my chili too. i've never felt the need for chili to be completely following any rules though. i think only texans seethe about that shit
>>223665888>i don't get why guests think they have a chanceIts good advertising for your restaurant unless you absolutely embarrass yourself.
>>223667052You gotta do the cookin' by the book
>>223667147>>223667177Food Wishes forever. Also>NOTANOTHERCOOKINGSHOW - kind of annoying personality but humble beginnings and good Italian recipes >Brian Lagerstrom - kind of just cooks everything. Used to be annoying with good recipes but now he's becoming old and jaded but still putting out good recipes of all kinds>Preppy Chef - totally a fag but he has a lot of good recipes. His ceviche recipe is my summer go to
>>223667194>muh no beans in chiliThere are SO many reasons to hate Texans and that's definitely one of them.
>>223666989Those are enchiladas, my man. That also sounds like a comfy meal. Your mom is based.
>>223667226i always got the vibe that notanothercookingshow is a big boozer. he sounds wasted in some videos. i like his recipes even though he's mostly using a giant flat top for every video now
>>223667287He's a rich New Yorker who beat all the top dogs in his life who told him he'd never amount to nothing or whatever. Of course he's like that.
>>223665682the most underrated celebrity chef comin through
>>223667420Is your mom still in her 20's?
>>223667420i know you're joking but i find it funny that he didn't really know a lot about cooking when he started out. you can really tell by how much he fucks up early on (before he kept things in just to show he's just a heckin regular dude)
