i like that one too. i don't get why guests think they have a chance or that it's worthwhile to challenge him with italian or american food
>>
I have no conception of how people enjoy cooking
>>
>>223665883
i think it was on its way out anyway. they started making more clickbait material like "what do these chefs think about blah blah blah". a lot of them seemed more miserable too
>>
>>223665888
The only time they beat him is with baking or desserts. I love when they say “I’m going to do a spin on a classic” and he keeps it traditional and beats them. Then someone comes in and says I’m going to keep it traditional and Bobby says “I’m going to put a spin on this classic” and beats them.
I always Wtf at the first challenge how often the “star of the dish” becomes a garnish or an afterthought.

Brian Lagerstrom and Chef John from Foooood Wishes dot com. I actually make some of their recipes regularly.

There was this cook Korean cooking show I was watching while working out. It's called Culinary Class Wars.
It starts out with 80 "black coat" chefs and 20 "white coat" chefs.
The white coats are Michelin level chefs, food people and the black coats are smaller level restaurant owners, youtube cooks, etc.
The first round is the 80 getting whittled down to 20, so they can go head-to-head with the white coats.
After that round, formats switch multiple times. It's really good.
I like that, because it's a Korean based show, the stuff they cook is way different than what I would typically see on an American show. There are two seasons of this show.

The other one I've been watching is 24 in 24. It's where 24 chefs have to compete for 24 consecutive hours. I think it was a network show. I find it to be pretty entertaining to see what they cook as the parameters and ingredients change.
Chefs get eliminated over the hours and it's almost more of an endurance test than, say, a pure skill test. I've only watched the first of three seasons so far.
>>
>>223665910
You get to hone a skill, make good food and feed other people who (hopefully) say it tastes good and it makes you feel good.
>>
>>223665910
For me it’s a creative outlet and it’s hands on and constructive. I also enjoy the steps and processes.
>Prep, chop and organise all your ingredients
>Fire up the flame
>Begin the cooking and building flavours
>Assemble the dish and put the finishing touches on it
>Enjoy the fruits of your labour

As >>223665965 has stated, when people praise your cooking, it is a high unlike any other. I'm really good at baking one specific item: zucchini bread. People have actually offered to buy it from me because I make it small sizes. Pic attached.

he loses quite often when it's a somewhat obscure dish with roots out of his wheelhouse. it is hilarious when he wins when the person is like "my great great thai grandmother handed this recipe down through generations" and he still wins
>>
>>223665997
If you hate the cleanup get into one pot meals like soups and stews. Not much to clean up with those and it's almost cold weather food season once this random heatwave goes away.
>>
>>223665997
i must be a sick fuck because i actually enjoy doing dishes and the cleanup after all the energy putting into the food. it's a nice cool down period but maybe i'm just a stressed dude most of the time

Crazy how significantly better cooking YouTubers are at actually educating people how to cook than big network television shows

It's therapeutic for me and my gf loves it. It's nice developing new skills and as an added bonus it saves you tons of money. The only downside is that most restaurant food sucks by comparison, so it's made me a bit of a food snob. I also bake and bring food in to work, which has helped my career.

I wonder if I made a YouTube video showing off the most lazy, trashy, white American mom enchilada recipe my mom made for me as a kid if it would get views. It's genuinely delicious but sssoooo white but I love it so much.
>>
>>223666873
I don't know why you're putting yourself down so much. There's nothing wrong with being white and your mom probably had some lazy meals up her sleeve because she was busy doing mom stuff. You should make the video and even if it doesn't get many views, it can be a nice time capsule to show your kids or something someday.
>>
>>223665997
What is the recipe?
>>
>>223666873
what are the ingredients? my mom makes a ton of shit like that because it's the only shit my dad will eat. they grew up poor so now that they're old they only crave comfort food or something
>>
>>223666897
That's true. I wouldn't want it to be lost to time even though it's the simplest fucking thing ever, especially for a busy mom. Also, one trick that may or may not work as a parent is getting kids hooked on Tabasco sauce young. Because then basically everything tastes good to them. My mom put Tabasco on my thumb to get me to stop sucking on it when I was a baby and it didn't work and now if something sucks I just put Tabasco on it and boom, suddenly it's edible.

I'll just give you the recipe since it's so easy and I'll probably never make the video

>get store bought salsa. She used Pace but I usually get something better like Herdez or whatever
>get a bunch of cilantro
>get a rotisserie chicken or if you know how to cook chicken like a normal person prepare like you prefer
>flour tortillas
>Mexican cheese blend
>take the store bought salsa and blend it with the bunch of cilantro and that's your sauce
>tear apart the chicken and put in some of the sauce and some of the cheese
>roll the chicken mixture into the tortillas like normal and put in a baking pan, fit as many as you can
>cover with the rest of the sauce and cheese
>bake at, I dunno, 375 until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are as crispy as you like
>rest for like whatever then serve

I dunno dude, they're so good. Definitely not authentic at all but I love them. Soap haters probably wouldn't like it though but it's a good and easy soccer mom family dinner.

>favorite cooking shows?

Good Eats with Alton Brown is a great one if you actually want to learn to cook. Each episode is dedicated to an ingredient, how to shop for it, how to store it, and then 3 or 4 ways to cook it. Hasn't been on the air for years now; but there are tons of old episodes.

Great British Baking Show is super comfy. I'm not really into baking myself as much as I am into cooking; but the show is very good natured. Everyone gets a long and helps each other in a charmingly English fashion and the drama of watching some elaborate cake go to shit is pretty entertaining.

Top Chef is entertaining; but compared to the various Food Network cooking competitions its hard to learn much of anything from it because they don't really go into detail on how they're cooking a dish. They do make some really impressive food though.
>>
>>223667181

I do a southwest chili where I put black and pinto beans in it along with corn, cilantro, habaneros. Instead of crumbling crackers I use doritos. Not technically chili, I suppose, but it gives it a great Southwest taste. Seems like every time I make chili or stew, I find another ingredient to add.
